I think you guys need to stop delaying things, that's the biggest problem.

Practically every single big thing you guys have done from the VERY LAUNCH OF THE GAME ITSELF (including content you couldn't release when you finally DID release the game) has been delayed and pushed back.

If this means overestimating how long something is going to take, that's fine, but by continually saying 'this is going to happen here' and then a few months later a big 'apology post' all you're doing is angering people more and more. Surely you can see the many many many replies by people pissed off about this announcement.

Now for me personally I'm very sad that you're choosing to push back the existing game for the upcoming game (it shows that you value new customers/revenue more than existing customers) but I've learned over time that the thing that keeps people playing MMOs is not the game itself, but rather the people.

So as long as my friends don't quit, I won't quit.

But damn you, you're not making it easy for them to justify staying beyond personal relationships. How about you get your act together and start hitting deadlines for a change?

I am not a cynic. I am a practialist. I can read between the lines:

- Subscriptions are down.
- The inventors are concerned.
- They want JTL to bring the subscription numbers back up.
- JTL is falling behind, so they want more manpower on getting JTL out on time.
- JTL *must* be out for the Christmas season
- Other concerns can be put aside.

For JTL to hit the Christmas season, it must go gold no later than October, then be shipped by mid November.

Remember, he who has the gold makes the rules.

I think that this is exactly what is going on. I can even accept this (but I am not happy with it) *if* I could trust that JTL is going to be pretty much perfect. It would not be acceptable if it then takes several months worth of bug fixes to make the expansion work correctly. Those of us who are left playing will also probably be very angry if we are told that the ground game fixes are going to be delayed a little while while they put in these "really cool new ships!".

The way things are looking now, they are just making more and more work for themselves with things that need to be fixed and balanced. This won't stop until they stop adding things and concentrate completely on fixing what is already here.

What he said...... I think

Double damnation! I need to reply faster.

Not only that, I roughly understood what he said too I think.

First sentence is about how some Europeans had enough of the crap they're telling us. Then it goes on about how we have to pay for beta and how SOE has the gall to abandon its plans or something. Last sentence is about not being the greatest MMO in the world.

Inconceivable! You did it again.

I actually feel bad for TH. He's the line between us and the devs, and as such usually takes the brunt of everyone's anger. When he mentioned having a few sleepless nights thinking about breaking the news, I believed him. I don't think he wants to string us along, or give half assed answers, but it's his job. Well, at least until he hires his own assistant, then it will be that poor guy's job and TH will show up to post Tuesday tips once a week.

Personally, I think the brass at SOE is looking at SWG one year later and rethinking their strategy. They banked on SWG being bigger than it is, so they're pulling staff and focusing on EQ2. They budgeted for X amount of staff at Y cost for Z profits. They didn't get the Z they were expecting, so they trim down on X and Y.

So, they need to do something with what they have available to keep us all here until JTL. Personally, I'd say the answer is to give everyone their 2nd slot. No questing, no BS... just that everyone now has two characters. Those uninterested in Jedi can make an alt and try something new. Those somewhat interested can do the FS quests without having to ruin their main character (I'm sorry, but having to surrender 24 points DOES mean a significant change for my main... as a master of two elites and a hybrid it's a big change).

Why feel sorry for him? He's known this for weeks, i.e. before he was promoted. He knew he was gonna have to break the announcement to us and still accepted the promotion so no sympathy from me.

lol That's not that I'm surprised you kept using those dirty tricks since the game is launched. But I thought (yeah I'm a moron sometimes) that YOU developers, YOU soe would understand that players can't stand your lies forever, and that more than 75 % of you players DON'T WANT TO PLAY A KIND OF JEDI ACADEMY ONLINE!! The univers of starwars is 99,99% free of Jedis!

Stop working of races, blue haitr colors or stupid things like that!! WE DON'T CARE!! We want to play like the title of the game says : "an empire divided" a civile war!! If you want to know what a real patch is look at EVE online SHIVA patch! That's the hell of a patch, that's a hard work development!

And don't tell me about jump to Light speed, you are going to add some kind of arcade mini-game inside of the game, you will throw in some planet taht will be as deserted as Rori or Talus because of a lack of interest and players, some long disappeared races and there you go...

but the important things? The new faction perks? Decembre at least, the revamp of all those professions who badly need it? not before decembre. The new weapons? The same. The balance of the armor? the same. The Galactic War itself? Not before february I guess.

Yeah people SWG seems always better when you dream of it (and when you belive the promises that will stay promises for ever) but the reality is pretty far away from the dreams here... I'm tired of playing the beta 4 that will end maybe in 6 or 8 months (if they finish it one day).

Thunderheart I would not enjoy being in your boots, i'm begining to understand why they promoted you. Anyway ven if they supress the posts like mine I don't think this decision will help getting more people in, lot of MMO far better than SWG will jump in soon...

bye.

I am sorry to say it to you in French, but celà is to show you that certain European pigeons have of it also full the bottom with your wood advertisements. Since the beginning all the people pay for Beta version and with final I find that really scandalous of foutre as much of the mouth of the world, moreover allow itself to make advertisements and plannings whereas l'on knows pertinament that you would not hold your objectives to be regarded little as misleading publicity. Here is of this rate/rhythm I think that you n'aurais soon larger world on your MMO.

Why SOE don't care about this thread... And why do you vast your time here :

At the moment, this thread count about a thousand posts, but all we know there is not far than half a million accounts suscribed to SWG. If all we cancel account, therewould alway be 499 000 players paying for this game. SOE loose 0,2% of is audience. Do you really thing that SW geeks would cancel ???

If SOE decide to employ 8 more developpers to satisfy the 0,2% audience who use official board, it would loose more benefits thanit would win.

Another thing really interesting :all of us know that casual players, those who never come to the official board to cry, wait for JTL because, they are casual, and this is an easy feature to deal with, not like PvP who is elitist, or combatbalance finessthat they don't understand. Also, they is a lot of old suscribers waiting for JTL, waiting to come back.

Casuals are upset to see Jedi, ok, path to the FS will become mysterious, in the same fashion that Mandalorian is mysterious, it means innaccessible.

Last thing patch are free, not JTL.

If you disagree SOE economic management, your only way to act is to cancel.

People aren't 'vasting' their time here. They are giving feedback on TH's announcement, as requested, and they dont like it.

A linkto some proof of your calculations would beappreciated. Pulling numbers out of your ass is just about as credible as this dev team is.

No one careswhat SOE would loose. We pay them (they dont pay us), to deliver fixes and patchs in a prompt fashion. If that means hiring more people, then so be it.

Many of them just cancelled after seeing this announcement.

Yes, the path to FS will be mysterious...in about another couple of months. Again, people are at their wits end. They have had enough delays, and have put up with more than enough waiting on behalf of the devs promising fixes within weeks. People are tired of waiting, dont tell them to wait any longer, they wont.

Wrong again. Our 15$ per month (or more in some cases) pays for new content and patches and is meant to ensure that the game will recieve FIXES, not delays. Patches are not by any means free. If you have a game with no monthly fee, there is no obligation on the part of the development team to come out with new patches at all. Thats the beauty of P2P, you recieve constant content and updating. We arent getting this.

Thank you for stating this, although many have already done so already.

This is unbelievable. I went away for about three month and just came back expecting the combat balance to be near implementation, and now I find the game has in essence turned into KOTOR online! Someone wrote this earlier which seems to sum it up: "This move totally boggles my mind. You are alienating your current population in order to increase new subscriptions through JTL and the 1st person shooter action game crowd."

You guys should try an experiment: put up a non-jedi server! Yes, a server where no jedi are allowed! It would become populated in a heartbeat! LETS

As for the number of subscriptions, this link below goes to a page with at least indicative data on numbers of subscribers to MMO's. SWGhardly broke the 300K mark and went downhill in January. From my experience, it hasn't gotten any better, except for maybe the last month with summer vacations starting. Don't be so sure about the number of subscribers. I would not be surprised if they are dropping towards the breakeven point.
