Thread: Most annoying text bugs?
This is really getting detailed I know, but the lair type "a dead log" should just be "a log". There is no such thing as a living log. If it was alive, it would be called "tree".
When I am running around and suddenly, one of the following occurs:
A) i get spammed with every known condition, like You feel dizy, You feel ever more dizzy, You start to bleed, you are knocked down, You can not see.
B) When I get spammed for 5 hours with Empty String in Prose Formatter

You shoot at him but him evades! umm..I'm sorry, I didn't talk like that in 3rd grade! you SURE you all graduated High School in there?
In many cases in this type of programming, pronouns and names aren't actually in the text. Instead, special character combinations are used which are parsed when that message is displayed. I've done a fair amount of work with this sort of system (as far as these types of messages, not MMO's).
For instance, "%a shoots %b %c wildly in the air. %D pauses a moment, and charges at you."
If that message originates from Bob, a male, with a "blaster pistol", the message could read "Bob shoots his blaster pistol wildly in the air. He pauses a moment, and charges at you."
The very same message when originating from Jane, a female, with a "ray gun" would read, "Jane shoots her ray gun wildly in the air. She pauses a moment, and charges at you."
Just an explanation of how such poor grammar can sneak into these types of messages. While you wouldn't type "...but him dodges" instead of "...but he dodges", you could very easily type "...but %a dodges" instead of "...but %b dodges".

Combat Medic Titles
Each skill tree comes with a title, but I when you set your title all you get to choose is the actual name of the last box. For example if you finish the crafting tree of combat medic, the last box is called Master Combat Medicine Crafting, yet the title of it is Toxician. You can't choose Toxician as your title, only Master Combat Medicine Crafting. This also applies to searching for combat medics, if you check under the titles list, all the titles are the names of the boxes and not the actual titles.
Titles:
Merchant Efficiency 4 doesn't grant you a title. Rumor has it that is because it shares the same title as Artisan Business 4 (Businessman), which is prerequisite to Novice Merchant.
Merchant Hiring 4 and Architect Construction 4 both give you the title Foreman.
Fencer Footwork 4 gives the title "Fencer" which could be confused with either Novice Fencer or Master Fencer (user/newbie dependant).
The Pistols 4 title appears as "Apprentice Gunfighter". Same with Novice Pistoleer and "Novice Gunfighter". It would be nice if the devs would choose one name for the profession and stick with it.
While on the subject of titles, while not strictly a text bug, the No Title selection in the title list does not save. When you log in the next time, you will have the last title you were using. This is, for all intents and purposes, a GAME BREAKING bug for Jedi.
Currently the message for all four teirs is, "Each rank in Construction Techniques gives the player increased ability to craft quality structures and structure components."
Before the City publish, this line contained only structure experimentation bonuses. With Player cities, all new city schematics have gone into this line, and the descriptions should reflect this.
Also, I have never personally liked "Foreman" as the title for this line. Dictionary definition: "a person in charge of a group of workers, a particular operation, or a section of a plant". As an architect generally designs buildings, and building contractors actually build them, Foreman just doesn't seem to fit. I think now that this line has taken the place of the once proposed "Urban Planner" elite-elite profession, I think there ought to be some discussion about changing the title of this line to "Urban Planner".
Finally, the furniture line for Architects is only described as providing more furniture schematics. It ought to also mention the structure assembly bonuses.

When you craft a music instrument, its default name is always like this: "a Slitherhorn" instead of just "Slitherhorn". They are the only crafted item type to be named as such. Furthermore, Bandfills come out as "a Bandfill " including the extra space at the end.

On the POI badge for the Escape Pod on Tatooine, when you examine someone with that - it says "C3P-0" and it should say "C-3P0"
Sorry lol, drives me nuts.
