The european servers are live. European people are playing. Some countries in europe have special characters. The old font didn't support it, but the new one wasn't done. What would they do? Use a regular Windows font until the new one is done. Is that so hard to grasp? Apparently, regarding the bitching going on currently over this non-issue.
I take it you're trying to say that the European launch was unexpected? How long does it take to make a font with extended characters? (Here's a hint: Search for "free fonts" on any search engine). It isn't that its hard to grasp, it just shows laziness and/or no planning around the 'issue.'
This thread is funny and classic at the same time... I personally feel the font is a godsend - it's a lot easier for me to read what people are writing. A lot of my friends dislike it though... Losers...
Anyway -Caliwyrm - i would challenge you to, rather than searching for 'free fonts', search for a font making utility. Now get a list of Unicode characters and go through the process of making a complete set of characters (Keep in mind this includes all printable characters - upper and lower case, numbers 0-9, all those characters mapped to your numbrs with a shift button, all the characters that need accents, and more). Once you've done that, test it on all configurations you can think of in regards to screen size, resolution, etc. I think you'll see it takes a good while to get something both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Especially if you then throw in the idea that you want to make it suitable to the Star Wars universe!
I would guess they wereworking on this alphabet for the European launch but through scheduling problems (get into the software business - there's always scheduling problems...) weren't able to crank something out in time that passed their standards and was acceptable to whatever focus groups they tested them on. But it's only a font guys, come on, chill, i can't possibly see how this font would make the game unplayable for anyone... Even my friends who dislike it say that it really doesn't detract from killing, crafting or whatever. And also - just to add more on to this - those of you who complain about the new font *and* complain about the 'development' time going to it - obviously the font is important to you otherwise you wouldn't be posting!

Where's the "cool new font" that you promised us? Or better yet, how about the old, fat, nicely readable font? PLEASE??
Is it just me, or do the speech bubbles using this 'temporary' fontlook like they were designed for a 4 year old to read?
Where is this new font, do I have to unlock it, and will the amount of letters be capped initially?
