Why does becoming a Jedi have to be so mysterious? I dont think this fits with the SW story line/universe. The Jedi were a well known institution. Why make becoming one such a mystery?

Force sensitivity should be semi-mysterious. That is to say, it should not be a step by step posted progression like a normal skill tree, but a series of tasks given by a "mysterious stranger" who visits you after you have mastered at least a novice profession or its equivalency (that is once you have acquired a minimum of skill points equal to a mastery in a novice profession) and visited at least 2 or 3 points of interest/theme parks (with at least one completed quest series per park). Once you do find this stranger, or reather he finds you, he should give you some concept of where to go/what to do to push you further down the line toward force sensitivity.

I also think that as one has typically, especially after putting for that many skill points towards a character, developed some attachment to this character and might like to have the option availible to develop a force sensitive character, on the same server, instead of losing that character that they have worked hard to develop. I know I would prefer that. My wookie on Flurry is a rather fun sort of walking carpet.

1.Most importantly. You can only be Jedi if your account credit card information is the same name as the person who registers. Hopefully weed out the 9 year olds a tad. (But don't tell anyone this =P)

2. Make it pretty much impossible to be jedi. Be absolutely sure the person who is a Jedi is over 20 years of age or haswon some presidential award of maturity that the basic jedi simply requires....

(Yes really starting to get on my nerves thatjedi's out there whom are supposed to be the material form of honor and integrity cry out "Your a poopoo face!" when they don't get there way.)

3. Like CSR given badges, sorta. For acts of goodness, courage, honor, far beyond anything we have seen from the 99% of the current Jedi out there. Or excessive (albiet well RPed out and still positive for game enjoyment for all) acts of pure evil. This is an MMO(R)ole(P)laying(G)ame is it not?

4. Wanna make it long and hard to become a jedi? No problem! Just make one of the criteria that a possible account includes the character on that server has maintained the same mastered profession for more than 6 months. Not 6 months of playtime, but 6 months of rl time as a master of something. So even the casual players can get some....that'll weed out about another 96% of the players today.

(It would be the first I have ever heard of a Jedi becoming in tune with the force because he was a "jack-of-all-trades" and fickle, can't make up his/her mind, individual. BTW, as you well know, (and coming from an entertainer/ranger admittedly) holocrons were a horrible idea)

Simple answer: Make it unknown.

I think it should be known. In the movies force sensitivity is known at a young age. In the game we are all adults and since the game gives everyone the chance to be a jedi we should all be force sensitive already so knowing how to become force sensitive shouldnt be a mystery.

Make it mysterious if you want, but it'll be figured out and pasted all over the web soon enough. Sony has said in various posts that people want force sensitivity. From what I'm hearing it's going to take at LEAST 3 months just to be able to start the path to jedi.

I can tell ya, you don't have that long. You need to hook me and many others before other games hit the market. I don't feel like dilly dallying around trying to figure out how to even get the coveted visit from the old man.

I think some of the way to get it should be reveiled, but some just 1 or 2 of many random things that you might need to do.

I dont want to see 10000 of jedi on any server, and yes i know that this shouldnt happen as you can only have 1 jedi per account. But it does seem to me a bit unfair that these people with the jedi force sensitivaty (i think it comes after the village quest but im not sure) get this extra character slot on 1 of the servers.

I would say a fairer way to do it would be give people a tick box so they can choose to open this extra character box on a server of their choise when they work out what server they want it on.

I very much dislike the way im gunna have to plod through these trials just to open my extra character, and i dont want to have a jedi or force sensitive at all. I would just like to have my normal character, and someone else who will either help my other char out or just to do something different on a server i like to play on and get a good connection to. (only 3 euro ones, and 17 us ones is a little limited.)

Ok this is getting ridiculous. Plain and simple. No the path to FS should not be mysterious at this point. If this was the system that was in place at the beggining of the game that would be one thing, but it is not. You have people that have been grinding proffessions since the game came out and still have not unlocked. To say well we are now changing the system so now you are screwed, start from scratch is just WRONG. You put a system in place at the beggining of the game to allow people to unlock a jedi character through holo grinding. Now you are saying that you will get credit for the grinding in the way of free branch unlocks, which is absolutely pointless if you have no clue how to get to the point that you can use them. Now I along with many others have been very active on TC2, primarily to ensure that when this goes live it is as bug freee as possible, since this is possibly the single biggest patch they have done in awhile. One thing I have seen little to no focus on is actually getting a visit from the old man to get to the village. Now if I remember correctly it has been released that if you unlock between Pub 9 and Pub 10 you will start out as a Padawan with all 16 FS skill sets, which to me implies that they will be fully trained. However if you have ground out 31 Proffs, and did not unlock b4 Pub 10 you would have most of the FS skill branches unlocked but no training or FS xp to use in them. So not only do you need to continue one hell of a monotonous grind, you have to sweat whether or not you have even qaulified to get to the village to get access to those skill branches. Now I admit I may be jumping the gun on this since there has been no official word from the devs on exactly how we will be credited for holo grinding, that I have seen, but from what it appears this will be the case. If anyone can officially confirm or deny this I would appreciate it.

*edit* *removed 2 paragraphs of blantantly negative remarks*

To sum my rambling up, give us a good storyline and stick the mystery where the sun doesn't shine. The storyline to the village is excellent and I have enjoyed testing the various aspects that weren't to bugged to complete. This I enjoyed, getting shafted for playing by the rules you put in place and then getting shafted when you decide to change them I do not.

Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Combination idea:

Mystery:

Force sensitive character should naturally seek out usage of their bond with the force. This can be done in a mysterious way though. When you are first logging in a particular day you hear a mysterious voice or are given a mysterious way point, You can choose to seek out these mysteries or simply ignore and delete them your choice. Some of the choices may lead to death others may lead to dead ends but the hunt will be the important thing these missions will gain force sensitivity XP, with enough you can elect to become force sensitive. As you progress in forcesensitive you will gain basic force abilities. Improved reflexes and concentration, you might even start bending spoons but the use of your powers will be difficult or random, completely raw and untamed as a force sensitive individual. In some of the text I have read this can even be a little bit of luck in battle making miraculous dodges and saves.

Getting force sensitive and even low level jedi shouldn't be that hard it should just be limited in your ability to use. You may not be very good with a lightsaber but you might be able to accelerate your reflexes to improve that. However these types of powers can break and fail. Either way these quests appear or are conjured in some fashion for those who want to seek them.

Non-Mystery:

Non force users should be able to seek out people to teach them tricks and tips or send them on missionsfor using and gaining more and more force powers and getting tuned to the force. Just because the Jedi are scarce doesn't mean the force users and attuned are. However attunement can be hunted as actively as Jedi are. Also attunement can lead to the dark side very easily so you may be even tempted by the one teaching you rudimentary force use, and they may even dissappear leaving you no trainer.

I think the solution is not less jedi but longer paths to getting to be full jedi. If I pull out a lightsaber I may be treated as a jedi but that doesn't make it so.

My thoughts on the subject is that Force Sensativity should be unlocked while playing as any profession, you should have a "very small random chance" to be able to have the force enhance whatever you are doing at the time.. can easily balance it so professions like crafters and grinders would more rarely get an effect from the force then others considering they can chain grind most everything..

After a few of these random effects which could take anywhere from a week to months to make your charactor "aware" of the presence of the force in everything.. Once the charactor is aware he will feel the force urging him to travel to a specific place.. "completely random and perhaps in the middle of a dangerous wasteland.." basically a mission to search out what is calling them. Then once they get there a mysterious NPC helps them by giving them various quests revealing the mystery of the force and helping the charactor develop those abilities.. Make Force Sensative a new class that is available to be trained with the current profession, minor costs for minor effects and higher costs for more profound effects.. Once the person has mastered their Force Sensativity they will then be called by another Mysterious force that draws them into a VERY remote location where they can start undergoing the Jedi trials to be introduced into the ways of the Jedi. Then as they slowly gain experiance in those area's they will forget more and more about their old ways and focus more on the path of the Jedi Master.

That is a minor quest I thought up with about 15 minutes of preperation and could come up with a much more in depth quest.. Personally I along with many other true Star Wars fans would much rather welcome a quest then the constant grinding to master all 32 professions or until you finally unlock the slot.. Also, the Force Sensativity area will enhance only professions other then Jedi, to a much more profound effect, making them MUCH more intense then their previous Training, The Jedi skills should be as they are now, a much more in depth understanding and utilization of the force.

I also support making all entertainer professions rely on another skill point set.. maybe 250 Entertainer Skill points and 250 other profession skill points.. This way you can disable the force from the entertainer profession and allow them to be just that, Entertainment.. Allowing the charactors themselves to choose a fighting profession, crafting profession, healing profession.. whatever they have their hearts set on. That way it would be much more interesting of a game.

MY DEFINITIVE OPINION ON HOW THE JEDI SYSTEM SHOULD BE HANDLED, AND SINCE I AM SMART, THIS IS ONLY THING ANYONE NEEDS TO READ!

First. Delete all current jedi from all servers.

Assign a CRS to each server show job is solely jedi iniation.

put in a system to achieve 'force sensitivity'(similiar to what is now on test... i dont play there and dont keep up on it so have no idea really how it is working...)

  • to become force sensitive make it random, how people originally thought it would be...

  • have to visit certain waypoints

  • have to master random profs for ur char(NO HOLOCRON HINTS)

  • have to talk to certain NPCs

  • have to find certain items

  • have to get certain badges

  • have to kill certain mobs

  • have to treat NPCs a certain way(dont answer with rude replies etc)

once u unlock ur force sensitivity you do NOT GET TO KNOW YOU ARE FORCE SENSITIVE

ur name will be added to a list for ur server's CRS to watch. once on this list the CRS will randomly, secretly follow u around(invisible/whatever) and watch how u behave and act. he will watch how u treat other players, etc. he'll keep some sort of tally, any time he sees u do something good, like give a newb some creds, help someone finish a mission, answer someones questions, etc.

once u recieve certain amount of tally points from ur server's crs(NOTE: this is all going on and u dont know u are being followed yet) the crs will spawn a NPC near u one day and the NPC will be a jedi, he'll tell u he senses ur stong in the force, etc, adn wants to train u, but in secret, etc... u'll become force senstive and have access to the skill trees, etc...

now that ur force sensitive u will still be occasionally watched by the crs, and he'll keep record ofur activities, if u fall below a certain amount of tallys(0... as in u greif play) he will just one day log on the npc and flat out kill u permentally or reset ur character to before it was FS....

you work ur way up to master, etc, etc, and then, and only then, can u become a dark jedi(up to now uve had to train as light)... you can only go dark once u hit master, becuz u are finally strong enough to kill your own master(thecrs's NPC)...

NOW A LOT OF PEOPLE MAY NOT LIKE MY IDEA BUT IT IS THE PERFECT IDEA CUZ I SAY SO OK? this would promote everyone being nicer to everyone else in game, would eleminate power gamers 'grinding' to it cuz no one will know what their character has to do. would keep jackasses from being l33t j3d1 d00dz. would encourge jedi to act like jedi and not go around flaunting it(against whole star wars story line...) jedi population would be in complete control of the CRS so no overflow. ... etc

AGAIN, THIS IS THE PERFECT IDEA SO DO IT OK? CUZ I SAY SO
