Thread: Great Expectations, Major Schedule Changes and making SWG the finest MMORPG ever

Thank you TH for that most informative post. I, as well as a number of people surely see that there are issues that have to be done in some type of order to make them work well. I have a tendancy to avoid the forums anymore due to the negativity that is so prevalent here. Some of it is completely understandable as many of us have been with this game for a long time and have eagerly awaited some of the changes that have been continually delayed under the hope that there would be fixes coming soon. Many of us have poured our time and energy into putting up ideas to help with these issues and enhance the game. Some has been done, some has not. I do however like seeing that things are getting done, even if it is not in the order that I would like it done in. Please keep it up, and hopefully we will have the robust, engrossing, real-life getaway that we all so desperately wanted when we purchased the game.

I am also glad to see that the Customer Service issues are being addressed. If I have one major issue with this game it is that the CSR response is inadequate, cold, and next to useless in many cases. I generally try to avoid it at all costs, and have, up to this point been relatively lucky in being able to avoid such things. I am also looking forward to the changes from this aspect of the game.

"Which did you like better? 'Jedi' or "The Empire Strikes Back?"
"Jedi"
"Blasphemy!"
"'Empire' had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, find out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings. All 'Jedi' had was a bunch of Muppets."

Can you hear that?

That is the sound of empty servers. Thanks for nothing.

Wow, this is bad news.

I hope everything works out but this is really going to hurt SGW.

Alot of people were hanging to the combat balance publish as a last hope for the game, it's hard to believe this has been pushed back.We have been told for so long to just wait for the combat balance to see our problems resolved... most peopleare already tired of waiting, I fear this will open the floodgates.

Sad.

Wow TH...mixed responses here man.

Well It is pretty cruddy that the things keep getting pushed back and things are still broken. The only way out of the hole is to get things right. You guys keep working. I guess just don't add anything more to the schedule. Get these done and lets move on to a better SWG.

so can we get a timeline kinda thing to show what is coming out when, like when JustG made a state of the game letter that showed what was in publishes and mini pubs

The development cycle still has momentum and we still have some other important items, big and small, coming out of the pipeline. Here is what still lies ahead:

  • Before publish 10, we plan on launching the character transfer system

  • In Publish 9.2 We’re publishing Wookiee armor sets #2 and #3, new crafting quests and the second swoop race

  • Publish 9.3 will bring us the third swoop race

  • Publish 10 will be the Jedi Trials. This will be the new gateway to the Jedi profession that will by a mysterious path to unlocking Force sensitivity.

  • Publish 10.1 is going to bring us an exciting surprise and also a list of Correspondent requests

  • Publish 10.2 is focused on the entertainers which features a unique new game experience where entertainers, Dancers and Musicians can perform for an NPC audience for the reward of a new song and dance.
Publish 10 is slated for the end of August, but one of the reasons for these delays is to make as much room as possible for extra implementation and testing time.

The most frustrating part is that the answer to more than 75% of the community's complaints is "it's coming in the combat balance." I don't understand how something so vital to so many players has continually been pushed back (often at the expense of development time for a single profession that many of us will never play). The combat balance should have been focus number one with the GCW close behind. As it stands now it'll be at least a year and a half post-launch before these core features are fixed. It just seems that development time could've been rationed a little better.

The only word that comes to mind is, "pathetic."

That's exactly what this is. For some reason, two patches are focusing on the Jedi revamp. Now you come to us, saying that the rest of us will be waiting, more than likely, 'til next year for the central theme of the game, and the Combat Balance to be implimented. Things that were supposed to have been completed by now.

I am curious. How do you honestly expect the community to take this rather disappointing news? We have been hearing the same rhetoric for the past year from you (the developers). You have yet to follow up on all this talk. So, I ask again, how do you expect us to take this?

I have said it before. I hate sounding like this. And I hate being angered over this. But this is your doing. I, like many others, have lost complete faith in the developers to follow through on much of the talk.

You want to make this the best MMORPG ever? You can start by ceasing the boneheaded decissions. You can also start by following through on what you say you're going to do. And you can continue by obtaining some passion, some committment, and some direction with this project.

In all honesty. This game has become a joke--though I still like the game inspite of myself. How much more of a joke are you planning on making this game. Many times, it seems you are anxious for people to quit.

The majority of content is implimented with zero creativity and zero imagination. Now, that Jedi are being revamped, before the GCW and the Combat Balance, however, before the JTL expansion, it's very telling of what you have in mind with these "priorities."

The Jedi is pretty much the only markettable thing for this game until JTL is released. Which I am betting is going to be closer to November, maybe even December.

That is the impression I get from you (the developers) actions.

Screw the rest of us, revamp the Jedi to keep the game alive before JTL goes live, then focus on the main problems of the game 1 1/2 to 2 years into it's release.

I really want to see how JTL and the rest of the game turns out, but I have ever increasing trouble sticking around, thanks to poor decission making.

Shame on you developers...

I think you guys need to get ont he phone to Turbine and talk to the devs there on how to do monthly(yes, they do MONTHLY)updates reliably and filled with content. No less than at least 3 quests per month, with sometimes as much as 10, and always 1 epic quest.

Call Turbine, they can help you out with your problems adding EXCITING CONTENT

This kind of poor customer service is exactly why I will NOT be resubscribing after my year of pre-payment runs up, purchasing Jump to Lightspeed, or having anything to do with another SOE game again.

These boards are the communication from players to the powers that be for making this game a better one. It has been proven that the input from the community regarding bug fixes is not a priority comapred to potential immediate income, in the forms of Jedi improvments and Expansion Packs. This latest patch for Jedi's goes against everything you (Thunderheart) posted that they would be back when how to become one was a mystery, most key of those things was that they would be rare.

Many things have been said and pushed back more than once and I cannot honestly with any self respect give a company any more of my money or time that puts the views of myself and the community at large in such low regard.

I am disgusted and disapointed to the fullest.

Well well.

You expect those not willing to buy JTL to wait for you to fix the expansion? Before fixing the original game? Get your priorities away from the checkbook for once and you might see that you are hurting the existing community by not fixing combat and gcw NOW. Jedi and JTL can wait, we want the current game to become what you've been promising since before launch (and still keep promising).

I'm gonna have to bow out until that time (which might never come I now realize).

Who is willing to argue that Jedi & JTL is more important than GCW & Combat? The suits? yes ofc, they see the new potential dollars from luring in new subscribers. But what about keeping your current subscribers, there's alot of dollars in that too...
