Thread: Corellian Corvette Feedback
Oh. My. Goddess.
We did it.
Tonight I finally led a group on not one, but two successful destroy mission attempts. In a row!
The good:
A real feeling of accomplishment - that thing is HARD
Av-21 Schematics, I have two of them now! Wahhoo! Shiny!
Decent loot. Got a nice SR Combat pistol in one run.
Progression. It gets harder and you have options to bow out when it happens.
Challenge, it really was fun deciphering what it takes to destroy that ship.
The not-so good:
group limit of 10? whatever for? It just doesn't make sense in context.
travel to 3 different places in the galaxy? time sink/money sink. not FUN. one random location would have been much better
AI, while surrounded by melee'ers not going to melee??
The BAD:
Gating powerplants. If you wanted to make this one powerplant per mission, fine, he simple answer is give the ticket owner the powerplant. Because they exist in a lootable container, maybe, this leads to one thing, and one thing alone. Successful Ninja Looting. There is no group notification when a container is looted. But now there's motivation to do so. Becuase for a group of 10 people to get power plants, they have to run the vette at LEAST 10 times. I say at least because on 3 separate occasions I was first to all of the armoires and droid, and received no powerplant.
At this point, I don't care WHAT you do, but fix this one thing. Add group notifications for container looting, fine, now we the players can resolve the problem. Give the ticket owner a powerplant on completion, fine, we can run the thing as many times as we need to to make sure our people get the shiny's. But to flat out encourage/reward bad behavior is reproachful.
How do I feel about the vette? On the whole, it's fun. It makes teams work together. It's suitably challenging, and repeatable. But I dont think I'll be going back to complete it anytime soon. Not until _something_ can be done to keep _everyone_ honest.
#1. Master BE/CH+Pistoleer of somesort
#2. Master Armorsmith/Pistoleer
#3. Master Doctor/Master Fencer
#4. TK/Commando I think.
After the initial break in (really the only place where my Master Doctor/Master Fencer was needed) the rest of the mission was a cakewalk, for several reasons:
a. NPCs get hung up targetting PCs they can't shoot (like on different floors).
b. NPCs don't switch targets very often at all.
c. NPCs are easily fooled by elevators.
d. NPCs can be drawn into fighting each other, solving your problem for you.
e. NPCs are entirely uncoordinated in groups.
So, while the three of us sowed confustion by picking up targets and running down hallways, taking one or two shots then running, our lead completed the mission. We suffered no fatalities, as I recall.
I plan on returning to the Corvette with the sole purpose of destroying as many targets as possible, not to complete the mission. The mission itself isin't very hard to do at all.
Moral: High-HAM targets does not content make.

Many in my group have also said the battledroids and their big brothers have ridiculously high HAMS... and the reasoning as many have said before is we can all kill Krayts, supposedly the uber critter, but yet our top TKMs die in 30 seconds, even being attended to by not one but two docs and 3 with CM skills, some masters??
but then there's the flip side... one of our Docs went in there all by her lonesome, and was able to solo the thing... AND COME OUT WITH A SECOND BERSERKER RIFLE SCHEMATIC... (she's also a rifleman) yet when she was in our HIGHLY coordinated group... she was among the dead?
for my perspective rather than argue about how tough it is... I gladly go again and again, until I have the satisfaction of saying... "Corvette, been there, done that... killed it"
My big bone of contention is this... why couldn't we have a cut scene where we see our shuttle LEAVING Naboo, and flying up to where the corvette is... it would not take that long to play out, and would be a HELL of a lot better than the "loading screen"...
It makes me wonder if once the space expansion comes out if we are going to transition into our ships by loading screen, or by hopping in em like we do with speeders... then blasting off...
That would be way more immersive... at least for me.
It's the little things devs... the little things...
other than that, I am ready to go up there again...
Oh by the way, how come us carbineers get no love eh? I have yet to see any really great carbines come from these dungeons!
I hope the Devs read all this...
Ive now run the Corvette about a dozen times...Ive got 5 of the 6 badges...and some cool loot..
There are alot of both good & bad about it..but for me the biggest game playing thing that has changed is the "forced grouping"..if u want to call it that..(yes u can solo the corvette..but...)
So what do I mean by a "forced group" and why has it changed my star wars game playing??
Random strangers meet at the shuttle points..form groups up to 10 people and are off..Some groups are great ..others have been disasters..but at the end of the day, because of these groups Ive been in..Ive met some of the best people that this game has to offer...THAT..if nothing else..makes this dungeon a success..thank you for your time..hope the devs read all these
um...I finally finished one fo the missions and it was because one of our groupmembers knew what do to...but after awhile I realized you can't over power any of the NPCs, so I put away my weapon and simply just walked around them...and when they aggro me I just feigned death or took the incap instride and kept exploring the corvette...you just have to outsmart and out manuever them, because the NPCs will out gun you.
Does anyone know a good link where I can get a map of the corvette? I always get lost up there.
TYVM,
Bruin Chris
That whats really great about it is that if forces a team too cooperate. You can't have people running around trying to kill npc's solo becuase then he will bring the hole group to harm. Your have to work as a team.
Now when I go up there we even do assasin mission with no sweat. We actually did assasin mission with no deaths and 40 minutes too spare. Even killed off three super droids. Something we couldnt even think of at first.
And the thing about finding out things, find the switches and parts is really great. Just love the Corvette.
Thanks for a great adventure, hope too see more of it!
