Thread: ID#2: Two Changes to Bazaars and Vendors
I don't have a problem with the current bazaar cap of 3000c. If you raise it, that's great. Doesn't bother me right now.
I disagree with the theory of limiting vendors to 150 items. Like many other players, I too always have a problem finding a vendor that has enough items stocked on it. A good weaponsmith could sell out a 150 item vendor very quickly.
I find it very frustrating to travel all the way out to a player's vendor, only to find it totally unstocked, or not have the items that I was hoping to be there. I believe that limit thevendor limit to 150 is only going to increase this frustration.
I do have a general bazaar/vendor suggestion...
It would be incredibly nice to allow players to browse the general bazaar and see vendor items on it too. This way, I could buy something while I'm in Bestine before I make the 4000m visit out to a player's vendor to pick up the item that I know will be there when I get there. As I said before, this is the biggest frustration that I have with the merchant system in the game right now. I'm a casual player and don't like wasting my time. I play for about 2-3 hours per night, maybe 5 nights per week (sometimes less). If I have to spend 1/2 hour to an hour trying to purchase a weapon or some other item, only to have no success after traveling to many vendors, I feel like I've wasted my time and not enjoyed my gaming experience.
First off, I dont like the idea of the 150 limit, but if its going to occur then I can live with it. Just please dont fix the Merchant class any time soon. ![]()
But the one thing I will ask is that if we are saddled with a 150 item limit, can you make the default number of items to show at a time equal 150 so there wont be any Next Item windows for our customers to miss?
This also means that vendors aren't as valuable to most people, many of us can sell items well under 6k, so we dont "need" a vendor.
As for the item limit, 150 per vendor seems fine to me, Im a Chef & Ive never had that many items on one vendor (Im assuming thats per vendor and not total
If this is total, and not per vendor, then the total should increase with the Merchant Skill, as only allowing the same item count for 1 vendor as for 5 kinda makes a nonsense of the Merchant skill,
Whilst on the subject, can we please have Bazaars for player cities ?
6k on bazaar? Good.
150 Items is too low, but here's a suggestion.
Make 150 the default low end for item limits, and put increases in item limits for Merchants. Give us more reasons to be master merchant! I keep wondering what I've spent my 72 skill points on...
Master Musician, Master Artisan, Master Merchant
I don't have an issue with either proposal. In fact I think they tie together in a good way by allowing us to placemore low end products (though still worth more than 3K) on the bazaar. That may help offset some of the pain of capping Vender capacity.
Personally, I'd like to see the Bazaar credit cap higher. 8-10K wouldn't upset me there. Anda slightly higher limit would further offset the pain of Vender caps. But I wouldn'twhine if it is onlybumped up to 6K either.
I can see where a Vender cap could be a pain for armorsmiths. With each complete suit taking up to 9 slots on a vender. That could cut into the variety(considering the popularcolors and such)of goods they could have displayed. But then again... with multiple venders in each shop it may not matter at all.
I would like to suggest you try to give us some type of "package deal" where we could sell a complete set of armor in one slot. Just for the sake of convienience.
I suggest:
- Allow merchants with Premium Auctions to break the price limit barrier.
- The max price should reflect their skills in Merchant.
- Master Merchant should have no price cap, or a rediculously high price cap.
These changes would make premium auctions MEAN something, gives a reason to climb the business tree for part-time sellers, and relieve the upper tier price pressures, while also keeping some downward pressure on prices. This also allows the programmers to recycle code and apply the changes quickly.
Thanks for listening.
I also like the idea of the vender cap. Vender (and bazaar) categories are way too broad right now, making it sometimes very difficult to find the things you are after. This is especially true on WS venders. "Ranged Weapons" covers too much to be helpful when the directory contains four pages of goods.
I realize this inconveniences the elite artisan professions, but I also believe that too little distinction has been made between the pure craft in professions and the merchant profession. The producers of goods should have to spend the points to also be the retailers of goods. Putting a cap on vendors will force artisans to spend more points on merchant to at least get the extra vendors they need to sell all their wares.
150 limit is WAY to low. and acutaly TH there does seem to be a cap on how many itemes you can have on sale.
Now if that was per vendor thats ok HOWEVER if its for all vendors you just sucesfully destroyed the merchant, I'm a master artisan, master weaponsmith and master arctect. I have most the trees in merchant.
THIS is a very bad ideal. I hit my cap nearly every single day I put up my vendors and I can never get even 1 of each iteme out on the markets.
I always get complaints that my vendors are never full enough and have a wide enough varitey. I personaly wish I could have more vendors and more itemes on the market as is.
Why did you guys even want to make a cap? Big no no.
Hi TH, Great job on the boards =)
I'm a master ws on radiant, and have at least 20 schematics that are popular. There's no way with the 150 limit I could keep enough stock on hand for whatever is going to sell that day. I could always put up multiple vendors (pistols, heavy weapons, melee, rifles, etc) but that will just add complexity and expense without really addressing the problem.
I could probably live with 300, but 150 will hurt my business. Heck I unexpectedly sell through now LOL.
Thanx again,
Hawkes,
Radiant
I'm mixed on the bazaar issue...so we can have a higher price, but now buyers will have to search through MANY more items to find what they want. It's bad enough as it is, especially the "generic item" list which contains items which should be in other categories.
On the vendor issue...I don't like it. I personally go to vendors knowing what I want. I don't search through 300 items. If i want a specific rifle I click on ranged weapons and buy it. Don't look through the entire ranged weapons category...waste of time for me.
