The main things that need to be fixed are:
1) Ballance the trees - I was so happy when pub 9 was delayed, I thought enhancer will go down and powers and defender would get a boost. But right now defender and powers are way underpowered and ever jedi is taking enhancer.
2) Put in the behind the sceen toughness in to robes untill the combat reballance. - most people complain the robes have taken away armor since every other profession gets armor. We need the +toughness robes untill the CB comes out and armor is taken away from other classes as well.
3) Death Penalty really needs to be re-examined - I suggest go looking at City of Heros. They have such a wonderfull way of handling the penalty. A player looses xp but they never stop advancing. Any xp they gain is split in half - half going to their next lvl and half going to paying off the debt. I know mathematically it is the same but it FEELS much better. Furthermore the ammounts of xp loss needs to be tweeked or a saftey buffer (1 free death/week) needs to be added to account for lag,LD,connectivity issues ect.
But other than those ballance issues Kudos! it is a really cool publish.

I highly agree that Jedi shouldget ONE free death a week.

Thunderheart
Players who have not unlocked their FS slot may continue to master professions for credit, but no new players will become Jedi until Publish 10, The Jedi Trials. Players may still unlock their slot, but it will not be active until Publish 10.
THUNDERHEART: PLEASE ANSWER THIS!!!!!
I really think this is a crock, People who have mastered 25+ profesions or unlocked the morning after the patch for publish 9 are getting screwed. We are loosing god knows how much time on leveling our jedi's... We all know that SOE does not release publishes on time. This has beenthe norm since EQ Beta..
We are not getting our full subscription price and SOE is holding back advancement on there RPG.. This is the worst Woody Allen Yuppie theory the devs have done yet..
I been using SOE since Early 1998 and find this to be the worse thing SOE DEVS have sever done to the customer... Almost as bad as Releasing an Luclin ( EQ ) and the bazaars not working for a year.....
My Question to THUNDERHEARTis will there a Compinsation to the players that automatically unlock at publish 10??? Do you actually think this is a fair system? Making people play catch up in a RPG were you got a ladder system in place that is essential to the game for ranking?

First off, good overall job on the conversion. It's created a whole new game for me
But there is some issues:
- The whole Jedi community, and myself would like to see more resist on robes.
- I know tuning our pearls and crystals is random; but the statsare all over the place! We cannot even trust the quality. I tuned a pearl that was -9fc before patch to -1fc, and a crystal I looted last night that was POOR quality tuned -6fc.

NO ARMOR ON ROBES!!! Please put this in at least untill the combat revamp.
Force run 1 isnt faster then a normal run (not busrt run mind you)
forcecurepoison is too weak, It took me 5 times to heal a CM poison,
My 5th gen saber that was 5FC became 4 junk pearls. (1x -3 fc, 3x -4fc)

TH,
My jedi conversion went very well.
Saber deconstuction and construction also went with no problems.
I was a little disapointed that all of my twin-force crystals were of poor quality, and that some of my pearls that wererated asquality are worse then a few of my poor twin-crystals.
I still think color crystals should be able to be crafted. There is no reason that a jedi should have to hunt for a crystal to use their lightsaber.
We were promissed that robes would have some resistances, but I am not useless w/o it.
We could use a slightly faster force regeneration rate.
I am happy with this patch.
Oh yea...
It would be nice to customize the colors of our robes. You can always delagate the rank of a jedi by robe type.

Overall the patch plays much more "fun" for me, so kudos for that!
There are still a few issues that bother me:
Robes - We were promised robes with resists comparable to armor... instead they are comparable to a T-shirt.
Heals - Since we have no armor, the delay on low level heals is just long enough for us to loose about 3/5 of what we just healed, making them almost worthless.
Cure Poison/Disease - It takes too many uses of this ability to clear high level poisons. We will be dead before we can clear them. Please makethem clear all poisons/disease, but raise the force cost for healinghigher level poisons/diseases.
Really, that's about it. Like I said before, the patchseems more "fun" forJedi to play under. I guess that makes it difficult for me to find more issues that bother me!
LOL! Well said!

My comments on Publish 9 are as follows -
1. Jedi Conversion Process
Comments- I found it to be clear and the steps were easy to follow. Other than the fact that FS skillstake up 24 pointsbut areof very limited value and the fact that the skill point cost of Jedi skills are a little high, I think that the Jedi Conversion Process was very good.
Suggestions - I would suggest that the dev team may want to re-look at the cost of Jedi skills at some point in future. Jedi would be a lot more fun to play if most Jedi had access to basic-levelForce Powerswhich gives the "feel" of being a Jedi while more powerful versions of these skills would require investment of more skill points as compared to the current system where most Jedi will use all their skill points for a "survival template" and have Jedi characters that are highly skewed skill-wise.
2. Lightsaber Deconstruction / Reconstruction
Comments - This too was clear and, other than the fact that there is an overall loss of resources and "loss" in terms of crystal quality, there were no major problems here. The only area of concern was that a Jedi would not have discovered that his lightsaber needed to be deconstructed and reconstructed till he attempted to use it and he might have been in trouble if he had to fight soon after logging on. However, given the extended discussions on the forum about Publish 9, this is probably just a theoretical problem as most, if not all, Jedi probably knew about the need for deconstruction and reconstruction.
3. Jedi Robes
Comments - It is nice to have a set of Jedi-type clothing and the bonuses conferred are certainly most welcome. However, I believe that there are certain concerns in regard to the Jedi Robes. These are -
a) lack of resistance values
b) inability to wear a cloak over the robes
c) the fact that wearing these robes immediately marks a person as a Jedi since no one else has them
Suggestions -I would suggest the following -
a) some resistance values on robes, even if these are nowhere near the Composite Armour that Jedi used to wear
b) changing the Jedi Robes to "normal" clothing i.e. shirt, pants, boots and splitting the bonuses between them so that a Jedi can wear a cloak (the current Tailor cloak is not perfect as a Jedi cloak but it comes moderately close) over it
c) allowing Tailors to craft similar items without Force bonuses
4. Force Ranking System
Suggestions - The current system caters solely to PvP players and, while it is right that people who take greater risks (i.e. PvP) should get more powers (i.e. the FRS bonuses), I believe that some PvE players would also like to attain the "status" of Jedi Knight and Jedi Master. Perhaps a PvE system for advancement to Jedi Knight could be considered at some point in the future. Of course, in order for the FRS system to continue to be viable, PvE Jedi Knights would clearly not have the benefits of FRS bonuses.
I would also add that some people have complained about the lack of TEF resulting in some Jedi opening duelling or using Force Powers. I personally feel that the solution to this is not to re-impose a TEFbut rather to use Visibility and BH missions.

This Jedi being everywhere IS getting way out of hand.
Everyone always said there won't be mega Jedi running around, that they would be hidden and mysterious.
Well, look what we have now.
I did want to be a Jedi once. Even four years ago when the development for this game trickled out into the public. But I wanted my Jedi charachter to be hidden, hidding from Vader, knowing that He was coming for me. This was years ago mind you, when they had the Permadeath in, where they said it would be really hard for Jedi, and if you made it to master, you'd be a blue glowie and such. Heck, this was even when they had *gasp*, corpse runs.
I did try to become a Jedi, and I use that word try very loosly. I did my four holos, and one or 2 easy professions, and stopped there. Between school and married life, I didn't want to spend my alternate life in the Star Wars Universe simply grinding. I want my charachter to be all he can be. I joined Star Wars Galaxies on launch day. And sometimes I think, there are more MMORPG gamers that play this game than TRUE Star Wars fans play.
Anymore, all you hear is about I'm switching to this MMORPG, or they did it this way in this game. Well, I frankly dont' care aboutother games. It's just like you said Thunderheart, "Star Wars Galaxies is the game for me". Star Wars Galaxies is my first ever MMORPG, and will be my last, simply because it's Star Wars. I play nothing but Star Wars games.
I came to galaxies to live the life of a brash pilot, who works for himself (aka Han Solo), although serving the Empire. The only thing holding me back is the space expansion. But after the publish the other day, I dont' know if I can make it that long. My Star Wars heart was broken by seeing more Jedi than I have ever seen before. I've known about 30 plus Jedi on my server since they've been in game, but have only seen around 10 with my own eyes. On Tuesday, that number was blown out of the water. So far in a two hour setting, I've easily come across 50-75 Jedi. All of them waivign the lightsabers, in the middle of a crowded street.
To me, this really broke my heart on Tuesday. Something this major would never have been allowed during the movies. My wife asked me Tuesday, noticing that I was upset, why do I keep playing if it upsets me so much. I replied, "because I have hope that they'll fix this, that I may still have my chance to life an alternate life within the Star Wars Saga, not a mishmas of all the movies put together".
All changes aside (ie. the armor and weapon delay) the bigges tchange that hurts me the most is the Non-Tef'd Jedi. Now I can understand why they did it with the clone camping issues and people griefing them. Now for the Devs to totally remove it was unfair. The Jedi now have absolutle no reason to live in fear or hiding. I mean heck, even covert Rebels and Imperials get Tef'd from killing oposite faction NPC's or healing overt players. This totally detracts away from what Yoda and Ben Kenobi were doing. So does this make Ben and Yoda cowards from hiding from Vader, well it must because I just saw 20 Jedi in Mos Eisley. I think the Devs should meet us half-way, remove Jedi Tef's while the Jedi are out in the wild, away from public eye, meaning if the pull thier saber outside the confines of a designated city, there will be NO TEF, and allow Tef's while inside the confines of a city to keep these Jedi's from having the urge to proclaim themselves.
I know that Bounty Hunters can pull missions for Jedi more effictively now, but the Jedi way outnumber the Master Bounty Hunter's this game has. It is by no means a population control.
Can there be some implementation of an extreme Imperial Crackdown on Jedi's who show their lightsaber of force power in a city? Have a cracksquad of Imperial Commandos chase after this said Jedi?
There is supposed to be Galatic Civil War going on...Vader has supposed to have vanquisehd the Jedi. As Grand Moff Tarkin says to Vader, "Jedi are but extinct, thier fire has gone out the universe...you my friend is all that is left of their religion." This makes Vader look like a complete failure. " Hey Lord Vader, you missed about 75 Jedi in the coronet starport just now". I read a post ealier where a guy was hunting, and had Stormtroopers shooting with him, and he was a rebel. There's something wrong with that.
Thunderheart, Devs, Q-3PO, Sony Online Entertainment...I implore you, no..I beg of you....please, out of all the issues dealing with continuity of this game and with the Star Wars Universe, please, please, plese do not just throw this issue to the wind.
Thank you for reading,
I still hope,

As a former Initiate 4/3/4/4 before the patch, i have to say the grind was a struggle.
now in the new system, i am told i can wear armor, and that there are sufficient modifiers for jedi to not near armor.
well, i dont know if anyone tried to fight a raptop as a 0/0/4/4 LS (nothing else) there is no way this is enough.
but thats not something that bothers me.
the death penalty of 200k is just STUPID, your telling me a jedi 0/0/4/4 should get the same penalty as a jedi with 250 points spent in there skill.
Come on guys, a jedi with healing , and tons of other skills can recover 200k exp in no time, but the rest of use it becomes debilitating.
Ispent 2 days working off 400k in the hole exp, and my friends in the PA asked me why it took longer then 3-4 hours.
I guess the same logic as when the game released holds true.
Make the newbs and low levels feal the weight of the system, but then let the high levels get everything easy as pie. (master tka solo a krayt) but then the grind to novice tka is insane.

There's two main problems with the robes. First is the obvious lack of resists. We need resists or some very basic resists in the novice defense or enhancer box. I'm getting killed out there.
Second would be that they are a uniform for many jedi who hold very little in common. The greatest part of an MMORPG is that you can customize your character from their eyelashes to their eveningwear. With one stroke you guys took away that customizability for our Ultimate Achievement Character in the game.
TH I know you posted it would be hard to change even simple things like taking the boots off wookiees, but we're not paying you guys hundreds of thousands of dollars a month to do half-assed work on this one.
Just because it is hard to do is not excuse enough not to do it.

There is a GAME BREAKING bug with the Force Ranking System.
Currently, Ranked Jedi only get Force Ranking XP for killing an overt. If they kill a covert with a TEF, such as a group TEF, the Ranked Jedi LOSES 1 XP for killing them.
This effectively allows those you PVP against to screw you out of XP by staying covert.
On servers with few ranked Jedi, on one side, this makes is nearly impossible for a Ranked Jedi to advance.
Please look into this.
