Sorry if this was mentioned before. I kind of skimmed...

Will these be limited to specific TYPES? For example, I have a couple of mountain dewbacks I tamed for future use for me and a friend...are these going to be useable, or will I need to dump them and start looking for regular dewbacks?

The sooner the response the better on this one...mountain dewbacks I could find in abundance, but I haven't found regular dewbacks yet (although I haven't really been looking hard).

The final list for this first release of mount is:

  • Bol

  • Dewback

  • Kaadu

  • Falumpaset

  • Carrion Spat

  • Brackaset

does this include variations of these creatures, like the lesser swarming dewback or the giant carrion spat or the... other variations? and if not, when can we expect additions to this list?

Glad to see the mounts are coming soon!
Sad to see Banthas aren't included. I love Banthas, I have 3. Ringo, Bongo, and Tango. Oh well, hopefully they'll be added in the future.

I had a Force sensitive character, with 23 and a half boxes ground out.
I had a master creature handler.
I had a high lvl crafter character.
I had a Bounty Hunter that I hunted PC Jedi with.

My game is dead.

Let's look at it from a practical point of view alright? Say you moaned enough so the devs listened to you and we got Ronto's, Dewbacks, Cupa's, Bantha's so on so forth instead of the choices we have now. What's the problem here? Would you make me beleive that the task of supplying the galaxy with beast of burden lies soley on the shoulders of Tatooine? The dev's wanted to make sure everyone hada diverce choice that would suit the planet you live on, not so the kiddies on Tatooine would be the only one getting any love. You have your native animal, the Dewback, for the time being live with it. I spend all of my time on Corellia, and I would have felt silly riding a Bantha or a Ronto around, I'll be sporting a Spat or perhaps a brackaset. And for my visits to Tatooine, I'll ride a Bol or a Dewback.

There you have it, real reasoning behind the dev's choice and not whining about whiners who are only self interested. Truly, it's moments like these that I'm glad the current Dev's ARE the current dev's and not any of you guys.

Yeah, i'm disappointed that there are no Banthas and none of those big things the Jawas were falling off of in the Episode 4 SE in Mos Esley. They're a little big i guess. But it would be rad. But anyway... i'm cool with these mounts... i'm just happy i dont have to pay for an expansion pack to get this stuff. (actually, i'm more interested in see all the vehicles they're gonna release. if there was only a swoop and a land speeder i'll grumble.) good job stickin cool stuff in the game so far.

Hey folks, I'm glad most of you seem happy with this week's Friday Feature. I think there will be more info on the specifics of mounts coming in the next couple weeks (LucasArts has asked for exclusive info for certain press outlets. You guys generally get the most direct info, but we do have to reserve some for the PR department).

We do indeed have plans to make more mounts in the future, especially ones like the Bantha. We wanted to start with some basic Star Wars ones as seen in the movies (Dewback and Kaadu) and also do a couple variants based on the same skeletal structure.

I know some of you feel we should not work on any new stuff until your profession or gameplay issues are dealt with. Please do not speak on behalf of all players saying your opinion is theirs. It is quite clear looking at all our feedback sources that we need to balance/fix existing stuff AND add new stuff as well. We have a very large team and can work towards that.

Um, what happend to vehicles? Can we have a little less P0kemon and a little more Star Wars? I'm shocked mounts appear to be a higher priority over speeders....

Q-3P0 I have one question and I think it is the most improtant oen about Creature Mounts that needs to be answered.

Are creature moutns going to count against the number of creatures that you can have??

Or a creature mounts going to be in their group like droids, creatures, and faction pets are each seperate??

I think a lot of people need to know this especially people who are going to be selling mounts.

A while back I told the Devs, "When you implement creature mounts, I only want you to make available six mounts. I want a Bol, Dewback, Kaadu, Falumpaset, Carrion Spat, and Brackaset."

That's exactly what they did, and I am very happy.

Praise be to the Devs.

Oh, and I specifically said, "I don't want to see any Bantha's running around as creature mounts. These foolish children will be riding them on Corellia, Talus, and other planets where the poor Bantha's are completely un-suited to survive. Besides, when was the last time you saw a Bantha in Coronet? NEVER!"

Mounts have available art, so a lot of the mount stuff is done. Not to mention I'm sure it's a lot easier to code, as vehicles with much higher speeds will introduce performance issues.. ie.. moving across the landscape quickly will make you need to load/unload textures and polys much faster. A pain, really.
