I liked the sound of the changes, I cheered on the devs with their notion of having a droid and a pet out, with each equal...DE already uses far more weird resources than about any other profession, for less gain...Been so positive, or tried to be...and now this. Its too bad...it really is.

My 2 cents worth is that its no good all 6 modules making a CL10 pet.

I think there needs to be a balance. Who's going to buy an R3 with 6 combat modules doing even 100dmg if it doesnt do anything else.

If the average droid has 3 modules, then 3 modules combat droids should be CL10. That will allow the droids with more module slots to be able to do something as well as combat, otherwise with this sort of HAM and dmg no one will buy them, as they will be costing 30k or more, for what is effectively an extra CDEF weapon and another 800 HAM.

The creation costs of the Droid need to be balanced against its worth as a combat droid.

Remember this is only the TC, so there IS still time for the DEVs to fix this.

One note: the BE dev has already said that they are going to be reducing the maximum stats you can give a BE-made creature and still make them cl10.

Repair/Wound kits are great, but as others have said you really need to take a look at the cost of the droid vs what they can do. More resources to build the same (or worse) as what we have now doesn't help us at all.

Personally, I'd remove the Droid Brain requirement from the combat module. It really doesn't make much sense, and inflates the cost/complexity much further. I know experimentation is still borked, but planning to do it with publish 8 will basically delay the "invasion" till then. Nobody's going to want to build the combat droids as they are currently on TC, just stock up on the ones buildable in Live.

We have repair droids that don't repair
We have surgical droids that don't heal
We have protocol droids that don't translate or write protocols.
We have Fugitive trackers that don't track fugitives
We have Load lifters that don't lift loads.

And now we have combat droids that cant fight ?

I THINK THE DEVS SEE THIS NOT.......DROID INVASION.....HMMM.....MODULE DOESNT WORK!!!

THE DROIDEKA IS LONGTIMEIN GAME.!!!...BUT IS IT A PROBLEM TO GIVE IT US DROIDENGINEER?

WE WILL IN MOMENT THIS COMBAT DROID...THEN WE ARE HAPPY FOR MOMENT!!

YOU HAVE THEN TIME !!

What a total waste. Good job SOE.

I recomend to all those DEs planning on dropping thier skills because of this patch to instead, just drop the game. SOE won't care if you grind up another class, they WILL care when they see their investment going down the drain. In fact, they are probably WISHING for this game to bye bye so they don't have to show up at work anymore and can sit and be lazy at home on welfare.

Why in the world are astromechs being usedas combat droids? Please tell me that's a bug.

I can tell you why.

Because we have NO combat droid chassis whatsoever, only utility and tracker droids.

What about probots you say?

Probots aren't combat droids, never has been. At least not if you should follow the descriptions of them from the official pages such as Star Wars.
The DZ Fugitive Tracker isn't a combat droid, never has been.

We have repair droids that doesn't repair
We have surgical droids that doesn't heal
We have protocol droids that doesn't translate or write protocols.
We have Fugitive trackers that doesn't track fugitives
We have Load lifters that doesn't lift loads.

So seeing a combat module in a R-series droid doesn't surprise me. Nor does it bother me... Why would it bother you people?

Runesabre-

I ask of you one thing. Take some time and actually play a DE character on live. Ask your developers (at least the ones working on droids) to do the same thing. I am utterly convinced that your Dev team has no idea of the plight of the Droid Engineer. I don't mean this as a rant or as a flame, but as an observation. Take that knowledge with you to Test and see why the DE community is up in arms over this whole Publish.

DE's have been misunderstood every step of the way. This publish is really lacking in "Enhancements". If you knew what you were up against, ie. actually play a DE for a bit, you would see why.

you apparently aren't paying attention. publish 7 is the combat droids, publish 8 is the utility droids.

Ok this has now gone far beyond a joke Guys

Heavy Melee R2 units?

Probots that are now 5 'utility'module slots not 2 (cos utility fits in combat slots) but even with 5 combat modules are less able than the old one, and HUGELY more complex and expensive to make.

What on earth is going on here? Does anyone at SOE understand droids at all?

For Pity's sake, we have suffered long enough, and now you think it's cool and fun to make it worse?

If it wasn't so sad it would be laughable. This really could be the end of any 'Starwars' credibility.

I think the only word left is 'disgusting'...I can hardly believe you are doing this to us.
