Thread: A word on the player city cap...

Yesterday was nothing short of a stress-level heart attackevent for most of us trying to start a player-run city that left us scrambling, exhausted and upset. Yesterday was a complete waste, as have any past "patch days", yet this one was critical for anyone hoping to start a player city. Hats off to anyone that actually managed to place a city hall. Now what about the rest of us?

Combined with an exceptionally long downtime that went well beyond the estimated downtime, an inability to even connect once the galaxy was online (or so it claimed),and numerous other bugs (including having to wait an hour for the buildings of our planned city to appear, and certain key components to building the city hall not appearing in our architects pack vanishing) ended up costing us our town.

And I'm surewe weren't the only ones to experience issues like this. So, obviously, I'm all for a "hotfix" to increase the cap on cities. I would go at least threefold in the cap size. I hope to see this happen within the next week, not next month.

The important thing here is. . . . equality. The devs Nerf and Nerf and Nerf for this so called Balance. The endless fixes and always benefits some and screwing most.

In the name of balance and equality. . which you, the devs, hold so dear, Why on earth would you allow only a handfull of ppl the opportunity to start a city. . .

There are a lot more than 10 guilds. . . if even 1/10th of the total guilds wanted a city that's not even close to the total amount of 10 on starter and 25 on others.

You devs are hipocrits. Stop nerfing if professions, if this "selection" cap is considered nessessary.

Sorry for the tone, but like most of us, I'm rittled with disappointment.

all you guys are a bunch of babies, stop complaining about how many hours you spent prepairing for your player city and how you deserve to have one because you have wanted one from the beginning. if you really want to be a part of one, join someone who already has a city hall placed. The whole point of a player city is to have a congregation of players to socialize, sell, trade, fight, ect. ect. They arent made just so you and your buddies, guild, or whatever can have your own town. I love the cap, im kind of disapointed that the devs are going to lift it. having a ton of player cities across the planet would be horrible. I would much rather have 10 metropolis's with 5 or 6 different guilds,a ton of players, merchants, entertainers, ect. than60 or 70 smaller cities with just a guild and its guildies. As for player cities, i think the update is awesome, but if more people would start joining up instead of racing each other for player city slots. The cities themselves would turn out alot better.

I don't know if people like you will ever get it. It will be EXACTLY how you want it if they fix the caps. My guild is small, if we get a player city, it would take a LONG time for us to get shuttle ports, and map placement and such, so we will most likely be a small outpost.

What it is that you fail to realize, is that ALL of these outposts and ALL of these metropolises already exist. It's just a matter of having more control over shaping the area where you and your guild have chosen to set up. In the end, it will not be that much different than it is now. Why should ten groups of players get to be the only ones working on the player city? You REALLY think that I can go join a huge guild that got a player city, and they are suddenly going to give me a voice? Besides, I'm not even INTERESTED in that. I don't want to be part of some sprawling metropolis, I want me and my guildmates to have a plateau that we can call our own. I want the option to grow without fear of a squill lair showing up on my doorstep. What's the big difference anyway? Wegonna have an extra building, some gardens and mission terminals? Oh yeah, and the name of our town showing up on peoples screens when they run through? Guilds my size will neverreally get any bigger than thatso whats the problem? How does this drastically change the face of the maps? Can't the size of the planet grow at some point too if that does end up happening?

If tatooine turns into coruscant, that would mean that we have enough residents just on tat to fill the map. Which would mean the amount of people playing the game would have quadrupled. Do you really think that is going to happen?

And what about the future players of this game. They gonna buy the game a year from now and find out "sorry you don't get to take part in player city building because 10 people already did it a year ago." I don't think so.

yeah did you guys figure out you screwed up on a patch YET AGAIN!!! lol

all I can say is, fix stuff, or else the ppl that pay your salaries(us, the thing called customers) will leave to other games. Believe me there are many, and that means you with no job, or at the very least you trying to get another job with the swg fiasco on your record, making future companys think twice before hiring you.

developer 1 : well this guy seems like a great team worker

developer 2: wait a sec, says here he worked on star wars galaxies!

both developers: hahahahahahahahaha

developer 1: phew that was a close one, we don't want to assosciate our company with the crappy development and customer care of that fiasco!

developer 2: how bout this guy, he worked on final fantasy XI

developer 1: now that sounds like a great idea....

they will wake up if you don't make this game better....

your jobs and reps are on the line.......

The problem here is once again you did not think before you implemented. You say you don't want the elite to be the only ones yet thats exactly how it happened. The biggest more organized PA's for the most part are who have the first citys. /sarcasm on Good job /sarcasm off

In reality what should have happened is instead of limiting the number of city's to start they should have been limited to the first smallest outpost size untill the effect could be seen on the game This should be corrected to immediately with the downtime tomorrow morning.

Instead of doing an increase in City limits, can the Devs increase The map size of planets or get rid of the END of ZONE INVISIBLE WALL. I dont know i just hate feeling like i have come to the edge of the world.

Does that mean that the Database "problem" that will be fixed next month to enable more cities wasjust a fat lie?

If what you are saying is true - your communitity representatives are making up bull stories for no reason, or else you are telling us similar bull to cover your lack of design work and project management.

I wonder why I get the feeling that these forums are sort of like the game? Let's see, is it because I read a DEV's post, look at all of the responses from players, and then at the end of the responses realize something very important.

Who is listening to you? Not the DEV's, because, sadly, thread after thread shows there are no responses from them. Just the original post. So are you going to get any of your concerns addressed? Probably not.

So many of the things that have been done in the game to date just leave me wondering if somewhere late at night, the main team of developers are just a bunch of drug addicts that pop LSD or something and dream up insane crap to handle the problems of trying to balance the game.

You're laughing? You think that is an insane notion? Did you ever play EverQuest? Did they ( the DEV's ) ever get it balanced? Did the 'fix' become simply a NERF that didn't really fix anything?

Wait, why bring up EverQuest? This is SWG! Oh, my bad, sorry for that. But hey, what I'm seeing is so deja-vu.

Tell me I'm wrong, please.

I hope that eventually they'll get rid of all but 1 of the npc cities (per planet) or we'll end up with a glut of cities. I heard a rumor UO started to fail because all the land space was taken up and in order for new players to build a house they would have to buy from another player and prices went up into the millions. It could kill the harvesting industry and then in turn the crafting industry.

LoL they have to be limited, after all the size of the planets are really very small. You can run all the ay across one in what 30 mnutes? That's a park not a planet.
