The biggest obstacle to that is if nothing decays then Tailors and Weaponsmiths don't get repeat business...and we need to love them too.

May as well make my comment on this too.

Tailors don't get repeat business due to decay. The clothes don't poof at 0/0. And I HOPE you meant Armorsmiths. Besides, Armorsmiths DO get repeat business because armor does "poof."

Either this is another "mistake," or more telltale signs that you don't actually play the game...

Why not remove decay until you guys figure out a way to tell the difference between PvP and PvE deaths? By doing this, everyone will get what they want. Players will be able to have fun again in PvP without having to constantly worry about decay or money spent on insurance(since your original intent was to not have decay in pvp or have to reinsure upon pvp death), and for once be able to enjoy a patch. Many people were looking forward to no decay in PvP, and because you've taken this away from them, a good majority of them will get fed up and inevitably you'll lose some suscribers.I find itfunny that this whole thing happened after SOE reactivated accounts to bring old suscribers back, just to have them driven right back out again. Think about it, if you remove decay for the meantime, you'll make your suscribers happy and will still be able to make any adjustments to the code and add it back in later.

omg...

how hard can that be? realy?

You should remove decay completly then the armor decays when fighting anyway.. remove it completly untill the problem is solved!

1% is quite alot when you base is attacked 10 times a day and you have do defend and clone over and over..

you can easily destroy a full comp set in a week with this crap!

if you add somthing it should be done rights or not at all IMO

Words cannot express my dissapointment. You tell us you are removing the 1% decay (which you never should have implemented in the first place since armor decays in combat anyway), then you say "oops nm, that was a typo". This is unacceptable. If i have to pay several million credits for a suit of armor that is just going to get eaten by the decay, then what is the point? Many people dont even wear armor for this reason. Just be men and women of your word and honor what you originally promised. Take the decay out like you said you were going to.

AWW cmon all I read is people saying How much they paid for their ARMOR!!! How about Us WOOKIEE's?

We dont have armor? and we also get owned by even a marksman pistoleer, Not a Pistoleer just the pistol line with a 70% armorAnd I do PVP all the time? I never said anything about why they removed all the bonuses we had at the start and they took it all away from us!! (And no I am not going to master 15 profession all over). Live with it they can change whatever they want and I think our opinion counts like 3% in everything they do

Good luck Dev's

Other games have had no pvp penalty

I just don't believe this can't be done. So you can die during in pvp and not lose your insurance? Er so how does the game know then?

Sounds like a fib

I'm a roleplayer, but when I heard that there would be no decay penalty for dying in PvP combat I was quite excited. I was going to make a character just for PvP to log in to when I was bored (roleplaying is great, but sometimes I'm just not in the mood).

Now all I can think is bollocks.

Taylor clothing that is not enhanced is un effected by decay to 0, Weapons decay on their own with use. Weapons don't show up on the insurance menu (at least the last time I looked ) So why again is there a decay for insured items?

P.S. How bout 15 min time in the cloning center. Then when there is a PvP battle one side will actually feel like they have succeeded in vanquishing their foe.

My solution:

If I understand this right (forgive me in andvance if I'm wrong)-

When you die from PvE you *still* have to re-insure.
When you die from PvP you *do not* have to re-insure.

The insurance system knows you died via PvP, but it does not talk to the death & decay system.

What if:

The insurance terminal was given a new ability to REPAIR all items on a player by 1%.

If it can tell that your last death was PvP, couldn't it acknowledge whether or not to allow you to have the 1% repair done? Heck, even if repairing the items removed the insurance from the item, I'd pay to re-insure them to avoid the decay.

If the insurance system *knows* that you died via PvP, there has got to be a way to make that work for us. Maybe it doesn't work automatically, maybe the player has to do something extra to reverse the decay since we can't avoid the decay, but as long as there is something in the game that knows how we died (via PvP), can't we use that somehow?

Or did I misunderstand it- is a death a death no matter what and the process of re-insuring won't take place if you die via PvE either? Is the insurance system just as clueless as the death and decay system?

Nope. It really was wishful thinking...

For so very many people. Would like to see the stats on how many accounts are cancelled over the next week. SOE scores again.

They removed the need to insure after each death. The 1% decay is tougher to do technically, though I wont give up.

Tougher yet SOE has developers in another game that has managed it. Am I sensing a lack of communication?

The biggest obstacle to that is if nothing decays then Tailors and Weaponsmiths don't get repeat business...and we need to love them too.

Standard clothing continues to be wearable without penalty. Weapons decay naturally through use of profession "specials." Tailors and Weaponsmiths aren't affected by death decay.

The only items that require attention to death decay are bio-engineered clothing, armor, & clothing with attachments.

I know coding isn't as easy as some people think it to be. I've spent hours on end looking for what I screwed up in scripts (often times a simple typo) that caused it not to work properly. But Sony's developers are getting paid to work on this game and really need to show a more concerted effort towards positive results rather than needing a representative to come forward and take all the blame.

You have to admit, the devs holding the crafters higher than combat professions is seriously screwing over the majority of people in this game. Crafters are rich already.
