this is terrible, i am afraid to carry my armor, because its got great stats, this decay is game-breaking it does not allow players to play as they want to, IT is an exploit made by the devs onto the players.

let alone belonging to a class that needs buffs to wear it, and a race at that. the current armor system is terrible anyway most users get hurt MORE from wearing armor than not unless they are buffed or get really good encumberence slices, which are random. Honestly what was SOE thinking, i have never played a game that it hurts to wear armor, it hurts to do special moves AND you have to pay when you die to let something hurt your armor again. Simply put insurance should = NO decay.

There are enough money sinks, while some people do have millions upon millions of credits other people like me are starving for credits at times because of high maintaince costs of my harvesters, travelling costs, decay, reapairing my vehicle, buying new weapons when mine decay etc etc etc

I have an architect/merchant toon and a pikeman/pistoleer one, i cannot keep up with the costs of my harvs to make a profit with one and combat is relitivly expensive and taxing on me, sure i can do missions and make a few hundred k of credits in a night, grant it in 3 days itll be gone.

I have been SEVERLY disappointed by SOE, it feels like all we are is Alpha testing EQ2. We do not have good enough servers to hold the giant battles we were promised, professions are borked and only get told to wait months for problems since launch, its hard to get ahead in the game, and on top of this alot of the customer support seems to be about as bad as microsoft's.

I have enjoyed this game and I want to enjoy to it's full potential but SOE and its employees have given me very little hope of this happening anytime soon.

Wow this isn't too good. PvP needs to have no decay on death. Possibly getting more wounds coule be an alternative. That way it would stop players from attacking over and over and over and over and over again. Sure they could heal, but all that takes time.

I don't recall threatening anyone with their job. It's not in my power, or any gamer's power, to do that Terreur. Nor did I ever accuse TH of lying or hiding the truth from us. But TH is our community relations manager, right? And the community is in a major uproar, right? So who do you think the dev's will hold responsible for the state of the forum community? The community manager, TH, that's who Terreur.

SWG is losing customers. Every week, no doubt, more people quit the game then join. You hope for stability or even moderate growth. SWG is not there. They are still losing customers, and now, if decay stays in, they will lose more. Why do you think they offered two free weeks to people who recently quit? Because they were losing a lot of people. Well those two free weeks are up this week. Is this news of item decay going to entice people to resubscribe? No. But it will entice people to quit. Even the reviews are slamming SOE for poor customer service. I was slimpy encouraging TH to take care of us, his customers. No doubt he is simply telling us what his bosses are telling him to say. But being a good leader means taking a stand for the right thing, and fighting for your people, even if it means risking one's dream job. And we are TH's people. He needs to fight for us, and maybe he is, but his posts don't evidence that. Jesters posts do. I was just trying to help TH to realize that if enough people quit, he very well may lose his job, because the boss *always* blame the low-man on the totem pole, and TH is the low man on the SOE totem-pole. That's reality, and that's the way corporate America works.

So hang-in there TH and go fight for your people. Lay it on the line. And may the force be with you!

Jester has given you guys enough alternatives to MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN!

This is ridiculous. Do you really think we are stupid or what?

"It's a faction issue" lol, If it were a faction issue, I would lose faction everytime I die from a faction npc.

I repeat:

WE ARE NOT STUPID!

You mean to tell me, the programmers who went through all the tedious work to develop the extremely complicated code in this game can't create a way to distinguish between a pvp death and a pve death? The ideas that Jester has suggested has made that point null.

Don't expect to see a response to this thread guys. The whole tailor/armorsmith issue is silly. Tailors don't make as much money as armorsmiths because armor is more desirable. It has nothing to do with decay. If you play this game long enough, you have to buy more weapons and armor anyway...trying to repair them is a joke...I wonder why?

This is moronic.

Nobody likes this.

Everyone was expecting a change.

Armor already gets damaged in *gasp* actual battle!

Stop pissing off your customers and make the damned change that was promised!

/sigh, I was so unbelievably excited about this when i first saw the original post way back when, and now i'm devastated. Kurt, I realize that you understand the player concerns here or you at least claim you do so i'm gonna try and keep this civil.

I really wish sometimes you were more of a player and more of a pvper. And not so much you, but the rest of the devs as well. I get the feeling that you guys lack the understanding of how easy it is to die on a live server in a pvp encounter and how often it occurs. ESPECIALLY in guildwars. I know on my server, guildwars used to be something people enjoyed and took part in frequently. Now i know of whole pvp guilds getting bored with no one to fight. Why? Nobody wants to fight players and recieve absoloutely no reward for the loss of condition on items.

Thats really what it comes down to. Item decay was just one more risk for pvp which isnt balanced out by any rewards of any kind. And in many cases its the risk that pushed people on the fence over the edge. Think about it, I'm putting everythign on the line for 20-50 faction points when I go Overt. And what do i get to do with faction points? Buy a faction base that opposing factoin members can spy on and destroy at their leisure? Buy turrets to defend those bases that can be killed via exploits at little to no risk to the attacker? Buy Mines that dont do damage? Buy guns and or armor that are LIGHGYEARS behind what can be crafted? Get promotions that grant me nothing but more faction points? Oh oh wait I know, I'll buy faction pets that can be killed in a heartbeat by smart players with better weapons and intelligence! Thats it right there.

/sarcasm off. Sorry about that, I know you've heard it before and you'll hear it again, but if I dont keep trying to hammer it down your throats you'll never udnerstand.

To sum it up again, I risk everything for no reward.... I could offer billions upon biollions of suggestions for rewards but i'm not a creative enough person and frankly i'm too tired at this point.

Take a look out there Kurt. Everyone who was on the PvP fence is now off of it on the HELL NO side cause they dont want to spend all the time necessary to replace their decayed items that cost millions just so that they can go have fun again. Nobody wants to guildwar anymore cause just wait to see how long that brand new suit of armor lasts when you're camped in a clone tube...

I like weapon decay, its something that makes sense. I use the item, it decays, I buy a new one. I store it, it doesnt decay, everyoene's happy. Armor works the same way, use the armor, get hit, and it decays. Store it, and it doesnt decay. Why cant you people just impliment clothing decay based on time-worn? If you're wearing it, it decays, if not, it doesnt, simple as that. Go ahead and change some of the condition maxes or rates and tweak as necessary, but death should not include decay. Just have death wipe cloning (ie you have to re-pay for clone data after you use the facility) and raise the price for clone a little (say 3000). Failing payment of the clone, black bar all stats at a level equal to or more than current. People would rather replace credits as a result of death than items. Riasing the clone fee keeps the sting of death and the money sink you guys want, and implimenting usage based decay and time-use decay on clothing fixes all of your problems... How hard is that?

If you guys want this to change it will.

I suggest you all make a post in your forums with a link to this thread..

Hell, maybe a few bug reports from all of us would do the trick... lol

"Umm yah, I paid XXX amount of dollars to insure my item and it still decayed when I died. Could you help me with this bug? Thanks."

TH, quit blowing smoke up our _____. You aren't changing this because the devs want a sting to death since you couldn't fix the corpse issues. (You've said so yourself, so don't deny it) Just be honest with your customers and you wouldn't see this **edit** storm that is hitting this thread.

Remove decay entirely, it was a poor idea resulting from shortsightedness. The weaponsmiths don't care, it never helped the tailors, and all three armorsmiths on each server already had more business than they could handle. Everyone else, save those few with masochistic tendencies or unrealistic expectations that it would hurt others more than it would hurt them, hated it.

I'm sorry, but i have been waiting for over a month for this no decay in PvP and no its changing because you can't tell the difference between PvE and PvP ? Well the At-St's sur know when to not attack animals that are mauling its owner...

If there is going to be decay in PvP then im afraid im going to have to cancel my account, and I know i will not be the only one. I am not going to work my butt off and spend my time and credits getting a good set of compo armor just to have it get ruined in about a total3 hours of PvP. This is ridiculous and a huge dissappointment. I have had faith that this new patch will keep players and attract new and old players back, but if decay for PvP stays in i know this will not happen.

If you want to keep decay in PvP then you do a few things to counter it, like make slicing a little less random so that you dont have to buy 5 sets just to get the slice that makes it possible to wear the whole set. If you can't do that then make armor not as heavy, or make it worth wearing...something along those lines.

You need to do a bit more thinking before you guys push out changes. You seem to have some flawed logic or some skewed view of how the people play this game. Every publish there seems to be some change that defies all common sense and then a month or two down the line you guys end retracting the publish, or saying you can't fix it then you lose a group of players because of it.

I suggest you guys get a clue about how we play this game or it will be gone in a few months. Listen to what the players and most of all correspondents have to say.
