It should be hard to do since they already use the same verification system.

I've never seen anyone with a ranking higher than 3... you say 1 star trolls aren't a big problem, but we have someone on the Sunrunner forums that has a 2 rating b/c of a 1-star troll... sounds like it is problem enough to me... it only takes one jackass to ruin someone's star ranking.

This sounds like a great idea.

Hopefully it will stop all the nuisance posts, which I doubt however. A lot of folks just post for the sake of posting without adding any value to the community whatsoever.

Also, subtract 1 Hr for the actual time as these forums seem to forget that Hawaii doesn't observe Daylight Savings.

Hey GarVa - your FAQ #1 and #2 answers conflict. For #2 to be true, #1 must be false.

Some dude ripped off a guild mate in the trade forum. Not sure how many of the 120+ people in the guild actually one-stared the guy (the guild isn't exactly the tightest knit.) But, I am sure there are some real tight combat guilds which could easily one star anyone with 4.9 rank and cover their trails by giving all their fellow guildies 5 stars. (hum 1 star one person once, and 5 star 2 pals, or just 3 star a bunch of people...)

Your answer #2 shows clearly that people who do one star are wise enough to check their own average stars given are balanced out.

This ranking system really will make for some star wars.

Would you care to test out a 400 year old sword to see if it's decayed to condition 0? All the prior testers have no comment. Perhaps a gun which was used in WW I and still fires with high accuracy upto 1km?

If that doesn't get you, then start reading current military specifications for combat equipment.

Just to answer a couple concerns....

The updated ranking list is VERY low on post count, look at the month vs. Post count. It is very low... ALSO This tree is more "time" oriented, because we do not want to encourage people to spam post just to get a title and also to not "punish" those that have been around a while but do not post that much.

The star ranked titles basically are the same as other similar titles you just get them faster (month wise) that is the only benefit. The whole system is intended to be over a long period so I am perfectly fine with it taking 4 years for people to get the highest rank.

There's also the fact that people have been asking why their rank isn't what it's "supposed" to be.

The reason is, that we are still on the old system. It's not been updated yet. Different system, different requirements.

Bored of the Grinding. Taking a break for an unspecified period of time.

What we need is some kind of "Star Economy" where users can not just go and one star or 5 star every post. If people had to actually think about the ratings they give a message, the ratings would be more meaningful.

Jedi2k, the pre-release forums which started several years before launch, were deleted and all accounts removed. That was prior to the lithium forum system as well, such that it was all plain text, no signatures, no edit functions, no titles, ect. There were many accounts which had been around for several years by launch since the early development contributors were around for most of 2 years by the time the game launched. Thus with launch being at the end of June 2003, most forum accounts were not registered untill July although you cansee a few with 6-29-03 and 6-30-03 registrations.

Just my thoughts, do with them what you will.
