Thread: Design Topic: Player City locations
Greetings,
As High Commander of the Brotherhood of Steel, It is my duty to think for the future of the guild and the chapter guilds under us. Much effort has been put in developing a plan that will give us a chance to establish ourselves financialy as well as politicaly. The best options for us is to settle arround a important ressource. We have though long on this, and decided to settle west of the krayt canyon on tatooine. There we have settled our PA Hall as well as sent all our members (from all guilds and sub guilds) to settle down and declare residency. The closest shuttle is 6000m and the closest Clone Centre is 3000m. We have decided to control a ressource, and there is many reasons for that. I do not want to get into our personal guild reasons in public, but yes, we are creating our city's far away for specific reasons. I shall becaume the mayor of our city. If any SOE staff has any questions on our development plans, please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will be happy to share it with you.
Sincerely,
Varrick ChaosWielder

Im going to get every perk i can get for it even if i become bankrupt ill still work for my player city, taxes will be fair, still need ot work out how im going to get 50k a week when most players cant get 5000 a week.
Location NE of theed (exact: secret)
The player city is close to Fambaa spawns and others, not really any good ones though.
Faction is irrelevant, got a guild partnered with the city (owned by my friend but i started him up)
Thats all, still need to sort out taxes thoroughly but got a rough idea.
Thanks for listening
I think that cities created by PA's for their PA will be in remote locations, but cities with a mix of different people, groups, and factions will form up near pre-existing shuttleports. I know that I plan on starting up a city west of Mos Espa on Tarquinas as there is already a decent group of housing out there. I would prefer to be further away from pre-existing cities but at this point moving is not feasible. Between me and two of my friends we have a PA hall, 5 houses, and 5 factories full of stuff. I just don't see any way we could move it all.

As the leader of a small PA we have planned to start a small township since the beginning. Of course we will have a shuttleport if possible as we are located twice as far out from town as most other players. Most all of the PA members have residence here, with more intending to move in once the Town Hall is placed.
I know what I want in the City, but the citizens will help determine what else will be there.
I believe you will be seeing cities pop up in remote locations... many based near popular attractions (themeparks, sites, dungeons). These will act as staging stops for visitors.
My group of friends are starting a city in the middle of nowhere. The main criteria for us is a nice, uniquelandscape. There are some static points of interest that would make an excellent "town square", like ruins, caves, etc.
The city will start off with just our PA, though others are welcome to join. We mainly would like to see roleplayers and thinkers join our community (Imperial preferred).
I think the core of a lot of the player cities is goiing to be a PA or two working to put them together.

Our PA was at one of the fringe city PA locations. We found a little known PA in the middle of nowhere that was an excellent compliment to our current members. When news of player cities starting coming out we proposed and succeeded in a nice move and merge. We are all now out in a very isolated remote location dreaming of our shuttleport.
Unfortunately one of the reasons we picked this PA to merge with was their active PVP members, something we were not yet into, but wanted to start. Being well along in this stuff they (we) have several large faction bases.
It breaks my heart we won't be able to participate in player cities if the faction bases block our ability to build. The past month was focused on this goal, and a design decision that makes little sense to most ruins our efforts. I even have the subcomponents and resources gathered for making the buildings we want in the order we want them.
Ask yourself this question... do you want a shuttle port nestled safely inside all of your faction bases? I can certainly side with you n that such flexibility should exist, but with the current game systems, it's just begging for a couple opposing PA's to mass-shuttle in and obliterate those hard earned bases.
Back O.T... what would get my out in the boondocks, would be a Star Port.. I very, very rarely visit non-starport cities. Takes long enough as is to wait the ludicrous 10 mins between shuttles, than to expose yourself to an extra hop just to get where you're going... I still stand behind express-shuttles at a higher rate would not only provide a solid money sink, but also improve commerce and travel frequency.
Well, My guild has been falling apart lately as people leave due to attrition.
Before this happened, I was fairly secure that our city was going to be in the boondocks. I have spent a lot of time master planning a city to be both accessible - easy to move through with defined streets and avenues, well organized - City blocks defined where players may place structures, and was even considering not letting anyone place but me and one or two others so we could place a house, then /transferstructure back to the owner to ensure that everything was placed to plan, and beautiful.
But, My guild has whittled down from a very successful highly active guild of more than 50 accounts with some of the most recognized artisianson our server, to a guild where seeing 5 people on chat at the same time during prime hours is about as many as you will see, and almost daily raids against our placements due to the fact that not only can we not defend them, but telling people that we will ban their guild from our shops is no longer a credible threat other than to remove a reason for those people to be around. I would still love to do a city, but it would now probably require a merger with another guild, and no two guilds are going to see eye to eye on how to build a city.
I still love the game, and hope I can remain happy playing it.
