swg discussion forum should remain as a part of player to player discussion across the servers not as a developer idea area.

In the Discussion we are talking about SWG its ups, downs and ideas for each other. THis forum should remain for player use.

Not sure if someone has already said this, as I haven't read the entire thread, but closing the SWG Discussion forum is not going to cut down on the signal to noise ratio. The posters will just usurp another forum and use it to post their rants and general discussion topics.

I would bet $1000 on this.

Taking away the general discussion forum is yet one more attempt to cripple the player base and keep us silent. I, for one, am tired of the actions the DEVs are taking.

It is maddening. Every few weeks the DEVs do something we all know is a bad idea but we fall back. They release a patch that Test Center reports as too buggy but we fall back. They drop holocrons, ruining the economy in game but we fall back. They make the FSCS a stupid profession grind and we fall back. The line has to be drawn sometime. This far, no further.

What's next? If we dont fight back, if we dont make a stand, what will the next "Great idea" we are forced to swallow and accept?

DEVs and MODs. We pay you. You dont pay us. We are NOT here for you. Your here for us. If we want the general discussion forum kept as is then its safe to say it needs to be kept as is. Go read just how many people totally disagree with this action. Read just how many people are upset with this new plan of yours. These are paying customers your messing with. We wont stand for this treatment much longer. Stop trying to rake in what you canbefore it blows up.Start listening. It wont hurt anything to keep the general discussion forum in place. You know it and we know it. So keep the general discussion forum.

Ok we need: A forum for general game bugs (No galaxy related). For example when a new patch brings a new big bad bug in the game how we will bring it to devs attention? You know that the galaxy forums is not the solution. Also KStarfire needs a forums to collect the issues he is supposed to collect and discuss and as a result an ideas or suggestion forums. The current solution cannot work. Posters will go to other forums and post general issues (game guide, GCW, GAT etc) and this will be worse... We need more forums not less !!

OPS...sorry not edit button yet...

We also need a Space Expansion forum ASAP...you know that this is for many of us the main game..this is our dream...

TH it is obvious that the vast majority of the community disagrees with the closure of the Discussion forums..you should do something about it and you know it otherwise your whole new plan will be doomed for no reason!!

Now take away the corporate double speak and what that boils down to is that they are noticing 90% of all the posters are just sick and tired of the game. So how do we stop it? Not by making the game playable and fun, but shut down the forums. What a joke!

Whats a joke is your post.

They are not closing the Forums down, just the central Forum usedprimarlily byranters and whiners like you.

Moving to more specialized and focused forums will help cut the signal to noise ratio.

Actually I think it will be worse. Instead of posting it on 1 discussion forum, they will post it on a few galazy forums.

Yes the discussion forum was a mess but there has to be a better way of cleaning up that mess other than just telling people to do the same thing in their galaxy forums.

It went from TH reading pretty much 1 forums for those ideas and now he has to read 30+ galaxy forums for those same ideas. I know you have been busy as hell over the last few months, so they decide to give you more to do? I just see 2 possibilities comeing out of this. First, you don't have enough time to read all those posts and therefore more ideas than before get missed. Second, you read all the new posts but then don't have time to get to other stuff like professions and other aspects of the game suffer.

If it was decided that the discussion forum just wasn't of any use and the posts there mattered very little that is fine. Then your just directed useless posts elsewhere. But the post about getting rid of it, seems like you still actually get ideas from it. The discussion forum was the one place that I felt I could go where everyone in the game could be. I'm never going to go post on the Bria forum as I don't play there. But myself and some people from Bria might have gone on the discussion forum and exchanged ideas.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but I just don't see how basically splitting that forums over 30+ others really helps the communication.

That's not a bad idea, but anyone who posts there would have to understand that the threads would never be read by any of the Development team.

And that brings up a problem. It would still have to be moderated.

I suggest another forum if you want a player only forum... maybe one of the fansites (SWGCenter, Stratics, Alakazaam, etc.) has a good general SWG discussion forum that we could hijack.

Any smart person who truly is sick and tired of the game would quit playing. Why would you pay to play something that you are sick and tired of?

90% is a completely wrong figure. The majority of the people who play the game are satisfied with it (even if it's not perfect) and they don't post and complain on the forums.

Closing down the discussion forum is nothing but a way for you to seperate the communy and herd them to thier seperate servers. The benefit of this is obviously to slow down the spread of discontent with this game and keep information about game bugs from spreading so quickly throughout the different servers. Your trying to silence the community and filter each server into its own tiny box that you can watch and censor. Lets face it. The discussion forum is where everyone complains about the problems they have with SWG and the last thing SOE wants is complaints out in the open for everyone on every server to read.

Where do I go now when I have an issue with the software? Tech support?(LAUGH) Only if your going to reimburse me for the month it takes them to answer at times. The discussion forum is where I spend MOST of my time reading and I get a lot of really good information from it. Yes, there is a lot of crap there. Yes, you do have to filter through it and it can be a pain.

If you want specific forums to filter through player ideas thats fine, put them in by all means. However don't take away the discussion forum and force everyone to their server forums, all it does is stifle the community.

One more thing. Why do you so desperately need to focus player ideas? Are you finaly going to admit this game is still beta and a test at that?
