LOOK ar what they have done now:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Developers&message.id=39804&page=21

They have LOCKED Thunderhearts brilliant thread about the most broken....er...I mean best MMPOG ever...

I wonder why?

Could it be because they already archived the first incarnation at 64 pages of heartfelt complaints and cancellations without a response? (read: swept under rug)

Could it be because this new one was already filling up with more of the same and NARY A RESPONSE from anyone in control? (read: panicking)

How about an answer folks.

Dont try to duck your way out of this one. Not gonna happen.

I love this idea also, but i really think the village needs to be insanced, i'd hate to be running around a so called secret village with about 200 - 500 other people

Woo! Jason shows up late again...

Like the idea. Makes more sense than what is there now. I'm assuming (don't have time to read through everything in great depth, so I may have skimmed over this) that its gonna unlock a new FS slot, as opposed to making everyone's regular players FS, right?

Can I make a few suggestions?

There is some means (mind trick of sorts) that means "you can only find Aurilia if you already know where it is". You'd have to perform quests to gain passage on the ship of an Aurilian trader.

How to get there? Perhaps you went to a Jedi location, and looked into a crystal ball...you saw a certain person. You decide to seek out that person, as he "may have an influence on your destiny". It would take a long time to track him down...each quest would give you a new clue. They'd have to be very cryptic. Perhaps you got parts of a key, which opened a secret chamber at Dantooine temple, or in Ben's house, or something. You'd eventually meet up with a real, surviving Jedi, and they would take you to where the Aurilian captain was. Then they would take you to the village. There would be no other way to go there.

Because the only way to get to Aurilia is via this captain, who is one of the "secret keepers" of Aurilia (only he can find Aurilia, and his mind is sealed so he can tell no one), it means that Aurilia need not be a planet. If you were to place Aurilia inside a dome, it could be anywhere. It would take minimal server space to set it up. You could even use the existing Naboo terrain settings, and houses and such. There wouldn't be any weather...it'd just be permenant blue skies. No one goes outside the dome. No one knows what planet the dome is on, or what system it is in.

The village could have been created, like the clone army, in secret, by the Jedi. It could be a "retirement home" for Jedi Knights of a certain age. The system would have been erased from the archives, to prevent anyone finding it. No one could discover the village by chance - it would be so well hidden that it was invisible. Anyone who went to the village could have their mind sealed, preventing them from telling anyone of what they saw.

Because it is from the Old Republic (and presumably the Jedi fled at the end of the Clone Wars), there could perhaps be the descendants of Clone Troopers, in Clone Trooper armour, assigned to defend the base. Even if you didn't want to be a Jedi, finding the village in order to get Clone Trooper armour (which you would need to earn, through quests) would probably give people a reason to go. Clone Armour would be the same as Stormie armour, only it wouldn't be faction-aligned, and you wouldn't need to be overt in order to use it.

In essense, Aurilia would be a theme park, rather than a whole other location. In order to become a force sensitive, or one of the Aurilian Guard (you get given clone armour just for finding Aurilia. You could then go on missions, as one of the Guards (by talking to the Captain of the Guards), to earn the trust of the Aurilians. The quests would involve you being flown away from Aurilia, to another planet somewhere, quite probably one with Jedi significance (Dantooine, Daothmir, Yavin IV, etc). They would involve some killing, and the other boring "go there then come back" stuff, but it would lean heavily on the storyline. Also, by wearing clone armour, it means that cinematics can be put in there. The cinematics would have significance to the story. Perhaps you discover that Vader is Anakin Skywalker. Or, how the Aurilians are pinning their hopes on Luke Skywalker...but that they are also helping him behind the scenes. All sorts of things like that. Once you've completed the quests, your FS slot opens. There'd be a cinematic with you standing there, watching the start of a "right of ascention" ceremony, where a boy becomes a man, and begins his Jedi training. When you start your FS slot, you'll begin in Aurilia, and it will be you that was the Jedi about to begin training. Your training quests will be similar to the profession starting ones in Mos Eisley, just to get you used to how your new profession works.

There is one problem. What happens when you're a Dark Jedi? How do you end up as one of those? My suggestion would be that, after your training, you are sent to one final theme park to finish your training - the Dagobah swamp. You go before Yoda. Light and Dark would (and should) be like factions, but outside of the regular faction system. You then get sent into the cave on Dagobah. There is a fork before you. One path is harder, more trecherous, but leads you out into the light. The other is darker, with evil things lurking inside. When you emerge, Yoda will do a "*sigh* The Dark Side is sense in you" thing, or "A bright future I forsee for you, young Jedi". That would mark the end of your Initiatehood, and you'd become a Padawan, and would automatically join the relevant faction. Essentially, after you leave Aurilia, you are corrupted to the Dark side. The Aurilian captain would be able to sense this. He'd refuse you passage if you were Dark, and would be one hell of a powerful warrior. Aurilia would be the base for the Light Jedi faction, and any Dark Jedi would have to talk to the Imperial Shuttle pilot on Naboo (Emperor's retreat), who would shuttle them off to the Imperial Palace on Coruscant (Imperial Center, even), for the Dark Jedi base.

Because they are factions, Light and Dark Jedi would get faction items. Light Jedi would get better Clone armour, with the rank colours from the Clone Troopers on it (you'd be able to set the colour). It would be much better than regular clone armour. You'd also be able to get a Clone Trooper pilot's helmet. And, you'd get access to a Jedi Starfighter. While in the JSF, you'd be able to fly to Aurilia under your own steam. The Dark Jedi would have a comparable suit of armour, in the form of an Imperial Guard. There could also be a variant of the Imp Guard helmet, set up for pilots. A Dark Jedi pilot would also get a TIE Advanced X1 - Darth Vader's fighter, which would let you fly direct to Imperial Palace.

Even with the whole of Aurilia, and the aspects of the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, they shouldn't be as tough to create as just the one new planet. You could use the Naboo buildings and terrain stuff for Aurilia, and the Imperial Palace stuff would be entirely internal.

That would make sense to me...is it actually logical, or does it seem stupid?

Wow why is everyone complaining so much? They're redoing everything, and adding in the JTL. Have some patience, the game just hit it's anniversary a bit ago and it's come a long way from what it was, to this point, and still on the path to becoming even better. I came from EQ to here, so i know a thing or two about wanting/needing changes to be done. Before all these other mmorpg's came out it was just eq and asheron's call and they really didn't listen much to the player base in EQ in the beginning. Things changed over time for the better, but it still took an extremely long period of time. Yes the delay sucks but for the majority of the players WE want to have the jedi experiance with our game play, without having to grind thru profession after profession. It's refreshing to see the dev's paying attention to those kinds of things, and as far as the GCW or Combat balance what ever it's being called now, it's coming. Will be a couple months, but it's coming. It'll be huge also. I doubt a lot of people will be disappointed. Will change how you play the game, etc. Take a breather, kick back, do something else if you're that mad then. Don't play if you're ticked off no one is forcing you to. Take a stand and just don't go into the game until you get the changes put into affect, in the next couple of months. But if that's not what you're going to do or want to do, then just close your respective mouths, put the sarcastic comments aside, post about what specifics you want changed in the revisions in the appropriate forum, and stop cluttering up the message that has NOTHING To do with what your gripeing about.

Oh and TH, looks good I can't wait to see the story lines etc. that are behind it. And like other people have asked do we get someone some NPC who just randomly finds us to invite us to the city?

Oh yeah and to limit people going to this planet/village they probably just flag the account for the people who can actually travel there, it wouldn't be that hard of a stretch that way you keep people who can't/shouldn't be there out thru ingame mechanics. Because think of it, there would be NO REASON for anyone to go there, some remote place out in the middle of no where for whatever reason. Some desolate planet out in the boondocks of space. So then you wouldn't be able to go there cause of that

First thing I love it I love it I love it this is the perfect blend of mystery and known fact. You even gave clues about where the village is "You can't see stars anywhere on this plane, can you? I mean with the trees and the clouds...." So it's a very forety planet maybe endor when it comes out on TC I'll search day and night on every on every planet for the villiage.

I really like this idea of the village....and it would be even better if it was instanced so that people who love to spam whats in their vendor at the starports wont be able to ruin your own jedi building star warsy character and feel to the game by spamming up the village. i hope this is a instanced place so that i can feel that i am the only jedi in training...unlike everywhere else that u go u can see jedi running around...however if i choose to make a jedi character i would like to roleplay and visit this place on my own.without people ruining my fun by spam, and being carelessness about the star wars feel and sense to the game that some people want.

please be instanced. i really dont want "iam-uber-l33t theman" spamming whats in his vendor while im trying to enjoy building and role playing my jedi character.

Forgive me for been dumb or if I have missed something but which part of this is actually the hidden part, actually finding the village or something else like which quests from the village will give u FS so that if u do them all u will end up with FS. Altho it sounds like the village quests actually give u FS skills.

As usual with SOE's announcements I am a tad confused and it looks like another carrot thats way off in the future, I thought this was coming in next publish (3 or 4 weeks away). If it doesn't and the holo grind has stopped does that mean we can't unlock till this village actually arrives.

Clouded the future is STILL

Perfect! This is a great idea.

But how do we know what to do to get to the village? Becoming force sensitive is the only thing keeping me in the game (other than hanging out with my guild) so I'd like to know which direction to go in.

The idea of the Village of Aurilia is just awsome and so are the quest journal (I love this sort of thing)

What I don't wanna see is Jedis running around there and even more so that it could be a sanction for them. If they could grind in peace then there will be AFK Jedis, and if thereare AFK Jedis there then the ones who wanna have Force Sensitivity wont be able to do it without a Jedi disturbing them.

Once again great idea

TH,

I absolutely love this idea. My enthusiasm for the game has been waning in the past several months and this sounds like something that could really get my SW juices flowing again. If you're accepting suggestions, I think it would be cool to treat this like a Jedi oasis. No Bounty Hunters or declared Imps are allowed in, no PvP is allowed unless its a duel and no DBs are allowed. While I don't think it should be instanced, it would be cool if it was a a location that was separate from the known planets that you get to by some sort of 'underground' transportation (with a load screen as if you were traveling between planets).

After reading the description, I had this mental image as a new arrival of seeing other novice force-sensitivespracticing their force skills. I saw a young female levitating rocks, several initiates meditating (maybe a cool mini-game puzzle), others running an obstacle course and others focusing on maintaining the village/crafting.

Here's the idea I bet will never fly. So as to avoid Bounty Hunter campers, players leaving the town will be either invisible and incapable of combat for a short period period of time (a disguise) or transported to a random location on the planet of their choice (the underground railroad ... there will be a fee involved in this due the the risk involved and the convenience). Thinking about it further, maybe the town has a shuttle that can take you to a planet and city of your choice. Maybe people who have found their way to thevillage previously will have the option to buy tickets (by means other than the regular terminals) and make the return rip by shuttle.

As for the quest journal, I think it too is a great idea. Knowing that we are on the right track and have some sort of progress tracking so as to provide a sense of accomplishment is loads better that flailing blindly in the dark as we have been.

Anyway, I really look forward to hearing more ideas and finding out what the end decision is.

Thanks,
