This sounds AWESOME! I'm loving it, just reading about it really gives me a sence of imersion (sp?). I understand its a hard thing to balance this all out, to keep everyone from being jedi, and to allow everyone to become jedi...heh.

it sounds awsome... but how about fixing the other professions... like Squad leader, merchant, and commando.... first, before you do something to make jedi even more fun....

Fix the poor BH's to be effective against Jedi, maybe some lightsaber resistant armor easily attainable by the master profession, only wearable by them.4. Take mission rewards away from them, make them make money with another source (like their first charactor).. Jedi are sworn to poverty.. if they have a second acct. fine, it means they are still actively involved with the Economy and "Lesser" p layers5. Make the Jedi slot more easily attainable, but VERY VERY difficult to level up.. not by changing the xp # involved to level, but by the types of XP6. Make killing Jedi help you along your own FS slot .. you'll find them hunted like quail. (optional)The idea for Aurillia is Amazing, love the idea, and the content sounds great .. Just make the quest more overt, lets hear it so we can get started.
I like these ideas, number 6 esp. Anything that makes it harder to show off as a Jedi is GREAT in my opinion. It should be hard for them to make money as a Jedi, without doing the same things the rest of us players do.

Wow...it all sounds great. A lot of replies here so i didn't read them all, so if this has been brought up, I'm sorry. I've heard that BH's can't become Jedi....hope this isn't true as I'm a BH and I still want a Jedi (not all of us are grievers). Secondly, will there be any choice of letting your second character become FS? I don't mind doing the quests again if I make that choice(not becoming a Padawan with first toon)...just don't want to wait for this stranger to show up for my second character. It would be great for him/her to be able to start towards being a Jedi immediately upon having that slot open. Other than that I think it sounds great!!!!!!

The quest journal sounds cool.
I hope that is something EVERYONE gets, not just Jedi. I have no interest in becoming a Jedi, but I love doing in game quests and would love a way to track my progress.

If a path or series of events is a trigger here, I'd like for there to be a hint as to the mechanics of these events. What does it involve? Do PvP or PvE in any way trigger it? Will this be doable for all professions or will crafters/entertainers have to be combat involved to some extent? What I'm saying is, show us the door, open it, and let US find the light switch.
I'll second that. Without going into the details of the system, is there a general "guiding principle" that you could let us know about?
5 stars for quoting me!!!

To sum up a list of things I find to be important for this theory:
1. MAKE THIS INSTANCED. Allow no more than 50 people into an instanced village at once. Have it like the corvette and let teh mysterious stranger escort the player to the planet (you'd need to make a whole new planet for this, but my hunch is that that was your original plan)
2. DON'T LEAVE US IN THE DARK. Without revealing the entire path, give us a leg up on starting on the right path. I don't want to be wandering all over the galaxy without so much as a half assed clue as to what I'm supposed ot be doing.
3. PERSONALIZE. Give us options with our path... Have the NPC's use the %NT string...I want to see my name. For pete's sake, make this immersive.
4. KEEP US UP TO DATE! Have a mysterious stranger e-mail us when we get ourselves on "the right track" and continue to keep in touch, reassuring us that we're making him/her proud or to tell us that we're straying from the path. (Make the correspondent the opposite sex of the PC. As a guy, I work much harder to impress a woman than I do to impress a man...LOL yeah...I have a sense of humor)
>>>VERY IMPORTANT<<<
5. DON'T SBDRANDOMSPAWNFARM IT UP!!! This sounds stupid, but everything challenging in the game is absolutelylitteredwithSuper Battle Droids, consists of finding large amounts random spawns, or farming factional bases. Keep it fun for everyone...come up with some original ideas. Instead of us stepping on eachother to advance, have us work together. I wish I could be of more help with ideas, but I've racked my brain and can't think of a thing...LMAO. Hey, that's why they pay you guys.

I like this idea, and the Quest Log is definitely a must have. The quest log would give players a way to track what they have done, outside of the badge system.
Having a NPC approach when you achieve Force Sensistivity sounds like a great idea, especially if you include appropriate story/quests to allow character development in different areas (Combat, Healing, Crafting, etc).
Looking forward to more ideas and content like this.

Wow... this is quite an amazing concept. This is probably the most amazing developments I've seen since the press release for SWG. I've always liked story driven quests. I found the Cries of Alderann story arcalmost asinteresting and innovative as the books or KoTOR. I think this is a great concept that should be followed. I am all for the village and the quest journal.
GREAT development devs!

First of all I am very worried about this "just play the game" comment. This was exactly was was said about the previous Jedi path. Of course once Holocrons appeared we found out that this was "incorrect". Will any and all characters, whatever their proffesion and playstyle be able to achieve this path? (note that the answer to this question when asked in the old system was "yes"- lets try and get it right this time).
Again it was initially stated that Jedi should not appear for 6 months- then you got worried after 3 months and added Holocrons. What timeframe are you actually looking for people to "discover" this path? You are limiting this by time and not numbers yes? Only the paragraph in there about "if too many players are pushed through the system..." sounds a lot like first come-first serve with a limit.
Also there is the small matter of incomplete Holocron paths. You said that the progress made toward Jedi in the old system would count for something in the new. How will that work? Will players get clues equal to their progress? I can't see how this is going to beunknown if, right from the start, people have to be given clues.
This sounds too much like the old systembut based on a different set of checkboxes to fill.
