Thread: SWG Changes Part 2: New GCW Bases and the Planetary Control Meta Game
Perhaps they should implement some system where if PvP-disabled players attack a PvP base's defense, they become PvP-enabled? In order to do that, however, there would have to be some sort of way of telling the two apart at a glance, and that certainly wouldn't help it if you accidently run into run and are forced to defend yourself against an NPC attacker. Say you're on a mount and lag doesn't make the base appear at first, and when it finally does you're in the midst of NPCs. They attack, you fire back automatically. Congratulations, you're now PvP-enabled and fair game.
It shouldn't work that way.
Yes, it feels like an exploit to have PvP-disabled players take out the defenses, but there IS a risk in doing it that way, and it would cerainly give any PvP-enabled defenders an opportunity to call for reinforcements since they know that PvP-enabled attackers are likely on their way. After all, there are a lot of NPCs and turrets to take out before anyone can enter the base, and even with the most powerful squad of PvP-disabled players, that's at least five or ten minutes until the base becomes vulnerable to destruction.

Tyrant can you comment on turrets and pvp bases? Will turrets be allowed to be placed on these bases and will they be pvp enabled only?

Hmm I dont like the idea that people can attack your PVE base while not PvP enabled and destroy it, while you have to sit back not able to be anything.
PvP bases will spawn with very nasty NPCs inside...it won't be a cake walk.
There are going to be uber NPCs in the PvP bases so they are not undefended and more of a challenge. What they don't have is external defenses. I don't think we will allow base deed trades to other factions, thanks for calling that out.

Ya what he said! ![]()
But happy to have ya posting late and answering questions
Huh? Every jedi I know is PvE. I think they are by far the unseen majority, we're off beating bushes and in hiding.

Same here. But I guess that they're right in ignoring us for now, there aren't alot of PvE Jedi. The focus should lie on PvP for the moment, because if they don't get PvP right this time, the game is dead.

We are not forcing people into PvP anymore. It is a playstyle choice that people should make, not have it forced on them.
As a light PvE jedi I kinda wonder if this new vision will ever include me

1) On the original post on Bases, TH specifically says PvE bases are placed and defended by both PvE and PvP players
2) Further in the post (by you) it is stated that PvE bases are only defendable by NPCs.
Which way is it? Also, what is hte incentive for any factionaly player to place a PvE base if they can not defend it?
Ok, had a pow wow internally to go over all the rules again.
So you can't really defend PvE bases - - that's why we're giving them away for free.
The purpose of these bases is PvE fun.
Hey, I just got an idea! lol
Something like this cold be used to help set up huge faction bases... maybe something like a small outpost, but the abality to create a wall between 2 bases X distance appart. This could make taking out PvE bases a valid combat choice while trying to take a PvP base... This could even help the combat upgrade with aditional 'tactics'
