First of all, I am glad we a re finally getting armor. I kinda like it, the concept drawing is kinda goofy considering the way that guy is standing but I'm sure it will look better on a game model instead of a drawing. Logisticly thinking how the devs are releasing the armor makes sense. In the beginning of the game all anyone had was bone armor until the first armorsmiths came about to create other types of armor.Thats the way the devs are releasing these suits of armor. You didn't think they would give us just one suit did ya? First they will release the bone armor eqivuelent and probably one by one release other suits for wookiees. For those people complaining that the anime/japanese/asian style of the suit doesn't look star warsy apparently hasn't dug to deep into some of the visual inspriations star wars. Vader's armor was inspired by samuri armor and I'm sure that Amidala's waredrobe in Ep I was dripping with asian inspiration.

And that is my 2 cents.

I'm sure they will have more Concept art to let us look over, unless this is what Lucas imagined himself. If thats the case, then I guess we'd better listen to the man and take it with a smile.

I'd like it if they made the armor need a certain type of wood from the massive Worshyr trees of Kashyykk, like the bark or something. then, maybe through a process of scorching, baking, layering additional plant materials and organic laquers and coatings, and sanding and smoothing, the surface of the armor could withstand the fangs of a Kashyykk lower-tree level creature or even withstand the blaster bolt from a stormtrooper. this set-up would provide kinetic, energy, and heat protection, as well as substantial protection from other damage types by adding layers from other armors, like a Rancor padded segment, or a composite segment. then you could have it both ways, a wookie armor, and a wookie armor with techniques from other armors implemented in a custom suits design.

oh yeah, maybe color it a dark, shiny black or dark brown, with slots for optional runes, colored patterns, and other decorations to be added.

I mean, if this armor is made from the wood of trees that are kilometers tall and have stood the test of time for thousands of years, then this must account for something if it is used in armor, am I right?

First of all, thank god you guys are leveling the playing field. Wookies have needed armor from the start.

Tell who ever is doing the concept to please stop watching anime when they draw. Wookies aren't oriental.

If anything think of it as a native indian culture that has been high tech for several THOUSAND years. They develop thier own technology to suit them and use ideas from thier galaxy neighbors to augment thier tech. Just cause they have a strong affinity for nature and the natural world does not mean low tech. Please tell the concept artists to keep and organic shape to thier armor but keep it high tech.

Wookie culture is for the most part peaceful, but there are entire clans devoted to the protection of Kashyyyk. They have a very milirteristic outlook to them.

You could use some designs you all ready have; battle padding, tavellers helm, strapped arm wraps, etc. Instead of boots use a shin pad something like a baseball catcher would use. Instead of leggings give them a mail girdle or skirt (or something like that). If you want, drop me a line and I could do up somedrawings for you for visualization.

Lastly; the coolness factor; no one wants thier character to look goofy. This has to be kept in mind.

Thank you again for the armor.

Oh, i get it. its an early april fools joke. now really what will the armour look like. I appeciate the desire to keep the armourin line with wookie thinking and design. Some kind of leather mesh with solid stats would be great. Wookies wearing composite armour is both game unbalancing and out of character. This outfit makes people wearing bone armour look storm trooper sleek.

"Once again I will say that Idearly hope that this will be a wookiee craftable schematic only. Not tradeable or anything else. If its something ONLY the wookiees can wear then ONLY wookiees should craft it like the bowcaster,"

for God's sakes, people, the bowcaster being wookiee-craftable is NOT the same thing as making wookiee armor wookiee-craftable.

think:

If I'm a wookiee and I wantto use abowcaster then I have to find a wookiee weaponsmith. That's fine because if I cant find one then I can buy a good laser rifle instead.

Now if I want to wear some armor you say I will have to find a wookiee armorsmith?

What if I can't?

I'm SOL, that's what

The more I look at the picture of the new armor the more I like it. I will admit that it does look like a wicker basket at time, but it looks better than the RIS armor, which is stupid looking... For those of you who don't like it, just wait. This is just a first. Other sets of armor are on the way and they are bound to look even better.

I have played one of every type of species and play my human character mostly, I always liked the wookies. I started up a new one last night because of the newoptions comingin the future.

How about stats? Any idea what defenses they'll have, etc?

I tried to get that info for the Feature, but they are still being worked out by the devlopers. I can tell you that this will not be the strongest armor because we intend to add more in the future. I'm guessing we'll release those next week.

I hope it's not that strong at all....wookies do get increased stats, you know...

/fistpalm Daker-Naritus

Ok guys, I'm going to go thru this in the simplest way I can think of. We'll compare a health bar of 1000 with 80% comp armor protecting it to try to figure out exactly how much of a stat increase Wookies would need to be equal.

Say a hit against this 1000 health bar would take away 10 points of damage. 80% of it is absorbed by armor, so that means only 2 points will get through. So, how big would a Wookie's health bar need to be to equal the protection given by this armor? Do the math! It's 2 * 5 = 10, so the Wookie's health bar would have to be 1000 * 5 = 5000 health! That's how much they'd need to be on an equal plane! They don't come NEAR that! Best they can hope for is maybe 1300, right?

What does that equate to? 1000 * x = 1300... x = 1.3. So take that original hit, 10 = 1.3 * y. y = 7.7. So, the wookie's stats are like having a protection of what? 10 - 7.7 = 2.3

THAT'S 23% PROTECTION FROM STATS VERSUS 80% PROTECTION WITH COMP ARMOR!

And that's unbuffed! Do you realize how bad it gets when buffs are taken into account? That means a wook would need a 15000 HAM to equal a 3000 HAM 80% comp armored toon. 3000 * x = 3300, x = 1.1, 10 = 1.1 * y, y = 9.1, 10 - 9.1 = 0.9

BUFFED, A WOOKIE'S STAT BONUS AMOUNTS TO A 9% PROTECTION VERSUS THAT SAME 80% PROTECTION A BUFFED, COMP ARMORED PERSON GETS!

I hope that makes the problem CRYSTAL clear to you.

Ok, troll, now let me make something crystal clear to you:

(1) 80% composite armor is TOTALLY unwearable unless you spend hundreds of thousands of credits to buy several sets to ensure that EVERY single piece is highly encumberance sliced, AND you (a) migrate your secondary stats to the point where you actually wear it because of the still very high encumberance costs, or (b) pay a doctor 5000 credits, EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR ARMOR ON OR OFF),to fully buff your secondary stats AND THEN buya bunch of mind enhancement food, because there is no mind buff that covers mind secondaries.

I will note that I have a set of 50% composite, and the mind encumberance for it is around 500. This means that an 80% would be about 50% higher, and even the best foods wouldn't get you enough of a buff to let you wear the armor without stat migration.

So, there are 2 major flaws with your crap argument fron the start... First, unless you want to constantly pay for buffs so that your strength, constitution, stamina, and quickness stats are more than 1 (you would ALWAYS have to be buffed, or you would never regenerate hit pointsor be able touse specials without dying) you will have to migrate stats.

Guess what genius....youCAN NOThave 1000 HAM on ANY class wearing 80% composite if you migrate stats.

Second, Iknow ONLY ONE armorsmith on my server who makes 80% composite, and even that is too expensive to buy and use. Additionally, higher armor effectiveness = higher decay = even more expensive to use.

So right from the start, you are making stupid arguments that are nowhere NEAR realistic. Both players running around with 80% composite and players doing so with 1000 unbuffed HAM is rare, and you basing your arguments on that is crazy (p.s. a word of advice...devs are not stupid, and you making arguments is wasting your time).

(2) Ok so lets assume 80% composite IS common. Using your logic, that gives a player with 1000 HAM, 5000 HAM (which is also wrong, but I don't time to explain armor to you, and you argument fails without me doing so). Wookies get at least anadditional 700 attribute points over other classes. Dividing those points over health, action, and mind, and you get 233.

Using your logic, if you give wookies 80% armor just like everyone else (*snicker*) what you get is wookies with 6165 HAM. That means wookies get 23% more ham with armor than any other class.

Hence my point...wookie armor NEEDS to be worse than that of other classes to ensure that they stay balanced. Logic hurts, I know. But if you use it, you won't need to be embarassingly corrected.

(3) Your arguments about buffs is also REALLY silly. Wookies can be buffed too (let me repeat that, wookies can be buffed too...why the hell are you comparing buffed players to unbuffed wookies?), and devs have already guaranteed that wookies are getting armor.

So lets use your flawed logic again...

If a 3000 HAM buffed player gets 15000 HAM, a 3233 (1233 HAM + 2000 buff) gets 16165 HAM. Last time I checked 16165 > 15000.

In conclusion, go back to your cave and try logical thought troll... My point stands...wookie armor HAS to be worse than the armor of other players.

Nicely worked out Yec, but I doubt it will sink in. Probably because it's too complicated a concept for them to grasp. Most of them just think, wow, more HAM, and don't bother to work out the utility. In fact one guy had the notion that utility counts for nothing - as in, not matter how useless something is, the fact it's there is brilliant. Good work eh?

When I saw the icon to click on I thought it was the Michellin Man. Personally I hate it.

Wookiee are an ADVANCED TECHNOLOGICAL race. Not a bunch of primitives. Granted there are probably materials on Kashyyyk that has properties similar to other materials.

However Kashyyyk is under Imperial edict. Those materials would not be available. Also other armor smiths would be unfamilar with how to work those materials so would use advanced material that do have at hand.

Please stop with the Wookiees are Neanderthals in space myth.

Normally I try to be constructive, but that is the stupidest thing I've seen in a long time. A long, long time.

A whimsical wookie prancing about daintily in wicker armor. Wow. You guess really whiffed on connecting with anything remotely resembling star-warsiness with that one.
