Thread: Weekly Rountdable Discussion (Week Ending 2-1-04)
First off this is what I believe the rank order: Private, Lance Corporal, Corporal, Staff Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Master Sergeant, Warrant Officer 1, Warrant Officer 2, Second Lieutenant, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel. This maybe and probably is wrong but it’s what I used when I wrote the follow so just pretend its right. Thanks in advance and all constructive criticism is welcome.
Factional Ranks NEED to be changed to mean something. There is no way a Lance Corporal should pay the same amount of faction point for armor as a Captain. The Lance Corporal should have to pay significantly more. Faction point cost should be re-adjusted to have something to do with rank, the higher the rank the less you pay. Racial modifiers for non-humans, with respect to the empire, shouldn’t effect how much you have to pay to receive factional perks, i.e. Storm Trooper Armor. Racial modifiers should ONLY affect the cost to achieve the next rank. The empire discriminates against non-human, but it shouldn’t cost a Rodian Captain three times the amount of faction points as a Human Private. But it should cost a Rodian three times as much as Human to achieve the next rank.
Once you have proved yourself and achieved a higher rank you should reap some benefits. The number of support personal you can have out at the same time should be based on rank. For example: Private, Lance Corporal and Corporal shouldn’t be able to have any support personal. Staff Corporal, Sergeant and Staff Sergeant should be allowed one. Master Sergeant, Warrant Officer 1, and Warrant Officer 2 should be allowed two. Second Lieutenant, Lieutenant, and Captain should be allowed three. Major and Lieutenant Colonel should be allowed four. Last but not least a Colonel should be allowed five. Also some other “milestones” that should be rank dependent might be not allow to requisition an AT-ST until achieved the rank of Lieutenant and not allow to place a factional base until achieved the rank of Major.
You should also suffer penalties for losing support troops. Something like -10% original factional point cost. But they should have some sort of vitality system or doctors should be able to resurrect them. There might even be a penalty as severe as reduction to next pay-grade or demotion for the non-military types.
I am not sure where to post this so I apologize if this is the wrong place. Feel free, SOE, to email me where I should put this if some place else.
Topic: BUFFS
When I log out, be it server downage or my internet downage, I lose all my buffs, Food or Medical. HOWEVER, the timers do not reset. Same thing when you die. You lose all the buffs, but your FOOD/DRINK timers are not effected in the least.
Is that fair? Shouldn't the timers reset at the same time that your buffs are removed via LogOuts (for x amount of time logged out obviously to prevent abuse) and deaths?
I mean logically if I die and my clone is activated, why would my clone still be full of drink and food that my now rotting corpse had in its belly?
Thanks!

Alot of people are going to be very unhappy when they paid a ton of money for the pets and after the publish they have to trade them in for something they didn't buy. The pre-patch Probots are a pet too and no trade-in. What gives?
Please keep in mind, alot of people don't like or don't have time to hunt in groups. They rely on pets to help them enjoy the game in their own way...solo. I don't think they should be able to solo a kimogila or krayt, but at least a small group of hermits, thugs or womp rats.
It seems you are pushing us to group with other people in order to just get to harvesters...why?

TH you ever tried to find something on vendors and after 15 empty vendors decided to throw your computer thru the window ?
how about about the vendors auto remove from planetary map when empty.
The crafter can always put it back on map when he refills it.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Just last week when I wanted to buy a new pistol, there were countless vendors that I'dseeon the planetary map, buy tickets to get to their city, take the time to travel, etc. just to get to them and they'd be empty!!!! What a waste of time! And so very frustrating.

That will just have them leave junk items in there to find.
There just needs to be a way to somehow know what is on their vendor which might be a bit unrealistic.
I like to talk to the people I buy from so I can /tell them befor making a big trip to their vendor. For example, when I was grinding combat XP I would just ask "You got any C12s in stock?" Too bad you cant do that when they are not online.
Maybe a send /tell to their vendor would reply with stock list?
The forums will not find messages newer than 1/27/04 when doing a search for messages...
Also, I wish there was a function to just click on something that says, "show me all the messages in which people responded to me." (without having 100 messages in your subscription list)
As it is I have to search for my messages (written by me) and see how many responses I have and check through the threads.
As of today 1/29/04 the search only turns up messages 1/27/04 and earlier... ![]()
Hmm. I logged in last night, on Endor, as my usual covertly imperial self. I discovered a Kaadu just outside the gate that was clearly a pet (it had a SADDLE!) that was attackable to me. I had no TEF. I had done nothing after logging in. I had a quick chat with the owner, and established he's a Rebel.
Later, after I'd done my best to reduce the arachne population of Endor, and they'd done their best to reduce the Rodian population of Endor, I passed the owner of that pet just outside the research outpost. This was mostly remarkable because I tabbed onto him (I tend to tab targets a lot while travelling). He was an attackable target to me.
I was still covert. I checked. Thrice. I had no TEF flag visible. I do not understand why the game thought I was interested in PvP. For that matter, I don't understand why I cannot participate in the GCW as a purely PvE experience.
