Not sure if this has been said or not, havent tread through the whole discussion, ive seen a few posts about it before, but how about making protocal droids actually do what they are supposed to do and translate languages, have any languages that have been learned take up skill points, and if people want to give some of those skill points up, they are going to need a proto droid to understand everyone......last i checked, having the whole galaxy understand each other wasnt part of the "continuity" that this games strives to achieve, Thanks for reading

Well my last post got cut off . . .

Heres a quick overview of what got cut off

3 profesions to required to create starships

  • Starships Proupoultion specialist

Makes sublight, hyperdirve and powerplants (powerplants could be included into sublight) 4th tier

reserved for crating expertiece tier (ie: expermentation points)

  • Starship Weaponsmith

3 Classes of weapons Laser, Ion, and Missles/Mines

  • Starship Defensive Specalist

Produces Shields and Armour for various ships classes

  • Starship Engineer

Resposible for final assembly of starship also produces hull type/ frame

Starships can only be produced in a shipyard; there are 2 types of shipyards, terestrial and orbital. Oribtal requried for anything larger than a freighter

  • Air to Ground support in combat

Squad leader can call for Bombardment from Cap Ships in orbit

brings up a request window if PC controled cap ships allowed

Window is comprised of a zomed in plantery map with military symbols representing allied

and enemy troops

Squad leader then asks for bombardment in a certain location, PCs respond and can alter the

situation based on changing condtions

Squad leader may only call for bombardment every X minutes where X is determined by

Squad Leader skill

  • Close air support from Fighters

Y-Wing and Tie Bombers cary proton bombs can fly in atmosphere and engage in terestrial

combat

Pilotable combat craft like Snow Speeders (not nessarly space craft but can act like them)

In atmosphere fighters to counter the bombers

Sorry for the brevaty i had everything writen out in great detail but the board ate it. So this is a rough overview of my points if anything sounds interesting then ask and ill explain in grater detail. Hoping for a Dev responce but also currious what my fellow players think

On the whiner thread idea... and now I'm officially making myself guilty of this myself... Posting *any* type of banter even if it's... well, ban the whiners... there in makes us subject to being banned from the forums as well. I've seen this in threads for On-line classes at colleges and more *serious* forums as well... It's hard enough to sift through the organized content without having to deal with a bunch of banter as well.

That being said, Here is yet another idea from the Fringer:

Does anyone else think it'd be at least a novel idea to play a droid? I'm not sure what this would actually intell... but... I'm sure some interesting game mechanics would certainly be opened up with this one. And it wouldn't have to be as boring as people initially think it would be.

Playing the part of a prissy 3PO droid... or, flying bantha fodder, why not,... A BH Droid would be about as fun as running down some Rebels in an At St!!!

Thoughts?

Sincerely,

The Lunatic Fringer

class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Honestly the in game story in all due respect isn't needed. The players want to create their own story. The key is freedom to be allowed to explore the extent of the game. The big exploit problems should be analyzed more. Are people exploiting just because they can or because their is a major problem that they are trying to get around. I have fought people that use exploits and the reason why they exploit is because the professions are lacking or the game is lacking. The players shouldn't be to blame if their isn't enough to do in the game or it the game is too simplistic for veteran players. I love Star Wars Galaxies mainly because I love Star Wars. Their are a bunch of mmorpgs coming out in not too long and they may dwarf SWG. I don't want to see SWG go into the darkbecause the major issues aren’tfixed in time. I am asking all the Developers of Star Wars Galaxies to tell us everything that you’re planning evenif their Ideas that are even a jokejust so we know where the game is headed. So far the posts about what isgoing onhave been fare but know is the time to let thecat out of the bag. If people knew what you werethinking that maypersuade people to stay with the game for longer.

Mij,

To a certain extent... this already exists in the game in the form of Factional Scanners. However, some of your sub-ideas are wonderful. *pop up view screens showing what's going on x number of meters away from you on a battlefield* That'd be awesome... I wanna see it in game.

This of course brings to light another problem... Battlefields... there broken and need fixed. Short and simple. Of course, another problem with battlefields is this... organizing them to occour at least partially close to a group of *willing* PvPers at the right time.

Here is a way I think battlefields could be fixed. Rather than a timer... just set areas in game *permanet areas* that are On-going battles. As soon as side A or B destroys whatever the main target is... a base... a leader... it immediately recycles and starts over again. The trick being... as soon as a battle has been won... everyone on the battlefield is kicked off. And what I meant by On-going... There will be NPCs continually fighting each other. This at least would add some fun stuff for all us factional people to go do once in awhile. And you've already proven you could do this with the Gungans vs. Scout Troops spawn on Naboo!!!! Let's see it on a battlefield.

I do not know if this has been discussed yet in earlier posts, but I think we wookiees need to have some form of armor. Maybe a special type of wookiee armor to keep in sync with our specially designed clothing. It does not have to be the best of armor but decent enough where we could have resists. Resists are a decidng factor in battles and wookiees desperately need them.

Our HAM doesnt help us much when a human with lower HAM can take twice as much damage. This goes for melee and ranged situations. I hope you guys have been thinking about this because it is one of the most crippling points of the wookiee race. We wookiees are not asking for a lot of armor but some to keep in balance with other armored races.

Wookiees with lightsabers..... now that is something the galaxy should be scared of.

Have a problem?
Need help?
Can’t get a CSR?

We have all been there at one time or another. You have a problem with the game and can’t fix it your self. Or may be you just have a question and can’t find the answer in the FAQ. So you send an Email to the CSRs, but they have a lot of work to do. So it takes them a day or two to get back to you because they have to sift through all the stupid little questions that are listed in the FAQ.

Well I have the perfect solution!

Player volunteers.
Here is how I see it working.

A player decides that they want to be a volunteer.
Ilmec says, “Hey I want to be a volunteer”
The player contacts a CSR.
Ilmec says, “Hey there CRS I want to be a volunteer”
The CRS decides weather or no the player would be a good volunteer.
CSR-chriso says, “Hey Ilmec I think you would be a great player volunteer, you like to
help out your fellow players.”
The CRS then makes the player a volunteer. Being a player volunteer would carry with it several privileges and responsibilities. First off it would allow the player to have an additional tag next to there name (volunteer). It would allow the player to register there location on the world map. And most importantly it would allow the player to contact CSRs directly with important issues.

As for the responsibilities they are rather simple as well. First off the player volunteer must be a knowledgeable SWG player. The volunteer needs to be online and available to help other players at least an average of 5 hours a weak. The volunteer must be kind and respectful to all players. And of course the volunteer must stay up to date with SWG policy.

We all appreciate the work that all you CSRs do, and some of us just want to help out where we can.

I grew up player MMORPGs back when they where text based and called MUSHs and MUDs. Having player volunteers is a long standing tradition in games like this, please help on continue that tradition.

I think that these are all rather reasonable ideas. And I would love to hear any feedback that people have to say on the issue.

PS: I want to be a player volunteer.

For Battlefields I honstly think that their should be whole planets reseved for them. The planets or area needs to be large enough to get lost or loose your enimy in. If they extended the existing maps out but the additions are battlefields. Honestly if they put the junk yardon tatooine andmade that a battlefield. Maybe make a city a battlefield like the small trashy ones that are never enhabitedby players.

Lastly I think the termonalogy of the game needs to change. Disruptors are not acid they are an energy weapon that destablizes atoms. They arn't a crosave chemical that desolves a compound. Someone didn't take physics!

Stealthshadow's idea on the combining of 1-Handed and 2-Handed weapons (as well as other changes) was fantastic in my opinion. And I have to ask, why are there no Elite Profs for Master Brawlers? Shouldn't there be a "Classic Weapons Artist" or something?

And where are the capes? They're there, but no one wears them. Are they bugged, or near-impossible to make? I think my character would look dashing in a cape. Or perhaps an Imperial Surface Marshal would like a cape as a sign of their power? Heck I think a Stormtrooper with a White/Black cape would freak any Rebel into giving back the Deadeye plans. Or a Rebel something with a Red/White cape would freak a Stormtrooper into...not shooting him/her. I like the ideas of PA uniforms (like my failed PA would've had lol), and giving a cape to someone for their promotion would be pretty cool, even if it was a Pink one. Even a Dark Jedi might find themselfs looking at the Bazaar a bit longer if there were a wide selection of capes to choose from.

Yeah I know, I really want a cape. Shut up

I like this idea of certain planets and/or cities being battlefield 'zones' that open you up as a factional targetand/or neutrals too.

Basically, I think some of us would like to see areas in the game where, more or less, you know if you go to spot A that your open to attack by anyone regardless of faction. This would add that randomness some of us want to the game... that feel of... hey, this is real, that next shot could come from anywhere.

Now then, for reasons I can see this might not be feasible: 1) The trigger happy and younger players that are just going to go there and shoot everything that comes in site. 2) no doubt making certain areas on planets 'regional battlefields' that run 24/7 may, indeed, creat a lot of server lag... and as is... we need server stability and lag brought down more if at all possible.

Reasons I can see this being put in:1) It's Star Wars and that complete randomness or factional geared planets and/or regions would drastically improve both the feel of the game and the content of the game. This would even be an alternative for letting Non-factional players side with a faction and get Faction Pts without having to run terminal missions for FPs at the start.
