For musicians I'd like to see missions that require a band of a certain size to play at a specific spot. Then part of the mission becomes assembling the band. There might be bonus pay for adding dancers to the mix.

Another idea might be to allow player cities to add money into a cantina entertainment fund that can be paid out to entertainers for playing or dancing there. Pay might be based upon amount of BF healed or something to make sure that the system is not abused and to allow multiple entertainers to play in the same location. When an entertainer checks a mission terminal, they could view a tab that whould show which cities are paying for entertainers and the rate per PF point healed that is paid out.

Along these lines, could we get the code altered a bit so Jabba's throne room acts like a Cantina? I think it would add tons of content just by making that one simple change. What a cool place to hang out at, and it would offer a benefit.

Actually this is kind of off track but the mention of managers/agents led to a thought that these would be great to earn at higher lvls where they would function like a vendor only instead of seeling items, they could be a way to arrange for a dancer/musician at a future date. Possibly a pet in nature who could act as a appointment book and be allowed to be parked overnight in a house or cantina.

Entertaining the Galaxy

Mysuggestionare intended for all three professions.

Rather than making the playertake a gig for some wacky location and entertain some random npcs instead send the player toentertain in an existing cantina for whoever may be there. The less frequented the cantina the greater the pay. So when an entertainer goes to an entertainment terminalformissions theygetonetelling them to report to the cantinainCorrnet/ Bela Vista/ Mos Taike/Dathomir science outpost and perform for 30 min. Money they make as tip during this time is a little "extra gravey"

It would be even nicer if player cities could getmissions listed for thier cantina(s). Perhaps the mayor or cantina owner could pay a premium(not the full mission cost but perhaps a weekly fee) to get thier location listed.

A few random thoughts about this:

  • Make sure the pay is reasonable the cost to travel to AND FROM say, Dathomir should be included in the mission payout. Make sure at the very least the mission payout compares against survey missions.

  • The mission payout should also take into account boredom factor of a location. Entertaining in Corrnet is alot of fun because there are lots of poeplethere. Being sentona gig to Yavin's mining outpost should pay more because for 30min the entertainer could very well be alone bored out of their gourd (or more likely AFK).

  • The length of time it takes the mission to be compeleted should be carefully balanced. Long enough for the entertainer's presence to have an impact, but take into account that they can't do two missions at the same time like most other missions, also factor inthe average time other types of missions take to complete.

  • I really think this would be helpful for the combat types who seldom want to leave an advanced world but often get froced to do so.

  • It would also help out players in low population towns(dorbel guerfela)you need some healing but don't want to travel to a town that will have entertainers(corrnet)

  • FurthermoreI think this exact scheme could be applied to medics for missions send them instead to spend some time at some far flung med center.

I have only played as a dancer for a little on characters on other servers but I have a few ideas still.

To make a mission/quest more interesting there needs to be some kind of events. Maybe there is a bonthan spy net convention at a hotel in Keren. When you show up and start to entertain it triggers the bonthans to start showing up. Maybe half way through somebar brawlerscome in and starts a fight and depending on how well you have been playing will determine how the bonthans do against the bar brawlers. You know something to spice it up a bit and not just preform for the regular ghost town regulars.....

I read an idea by a person who ran a player cantina. They wanted to put missions on the terminals to pay entertainers to visit at their cantina. I've played gigs with my troup that were set up in advance, but it might be fun to work at a player cantina for a pay rate as given by a mission. This interface is a lot less complext for the player than trying to use forums and other outside of game means to play at venues.

I would love to see entertainers play at Jabba's and to see them fed to the rancor if they displeased him. That would be really cool!

I like the idea ofperforming at Jabba's Palace, and I think the Question-and-Answer approach is pretty good (something along the lines of convincing Jabba's thugs to give you that part to repair like in COA 3). At the very least, Gig missions should pay in credits AND EXPERIENCE. This is the perfect suggestion (sorry cant remember who posted it at first in this thread). Bounty Hunter missions give very nice xp rewards and are needed to advance in the investigation tree. If gig missions were to grant even more experience than afk'ing in a 20 person group for a little while, then the problem will largely be solved. As was mentioned above, healing xp is the most valued experience type in the higher levels.

I still think that the best way to improve the music/dance professions overall is to add an interactive system (i.e. Dance Dance Revolution). If this could be used to compete with other players or to earn more xp, since it cant be macroed, the profession will be that much better. Maybe when we've got new songs they can be unlocked through this system. After all, the most desperate need of entertainers is for the profession itself to be made fun.

Jabba's throne room, even when there are no PCs inside, is one of the kickingest places in the game. It really feels like you're in some kind of clubby party type atmosphere. Would be really cool to have parties and such there.

I'm not an entertainer, but I've often thought it'd be cool to have a reason to hang out in Jabba's court. It's a neat place to go now, but only once; after you've seen it (and done the missions) there's no reason to go back to this place. And yet a lot of cool design work went into that room; as much, or more, than any other single location from what I've been able to tell. It's a shame to waste it as a one shot affair. It'd be great if it could become a community hot-spot like the other cantinas, but with a distinctly Jabba feel.

Perhaps entertainers granted the priviledge by the mighty Jabba could join the Max Rebo band - though I don't know how a musician group with an NPC band leader would work. Dancers could perform for mighty Jabba's pleasure in return for entertainer specifc rewards with the risk that if displease their audience (connected to their skill level somehow) Bib might sic the guards on them. Imagine flleing for the door of the citadel, Gammoreans hot on your trail, because you fell down while dancing for the Hutt...

As a combat character, I can go to any standard Mission terminal and have it spawn dangerous NPC mobs at a waypoint. Killing them gets me combat XP and money.

So why can't an entertainer go to an Entertainer terminal and have it spawn some mind-wounded, battle fatigued NPCs at some distant cantina? Then entertainers could get PvE healing experience. Have the NPCs spawn at least in another city, if not another planet, and it would be quite difficult to completely AFK grind. Just make sure the mission payout at least covers the travel cost.

Of course the difference is that PvE combat involves risk; I only get the combat experience if I defeat the mission mob. Entertainer healing missions would at least require a time investment, like current delivery and entertainer missions. Perhaps there should be a time limit too, so that flourishes and HAM management are necessary -- take too long and the NPCs leave, depriving you of the mission payout and full XP.

And have group XP bonuses, and the usual two-mission limit. That way a group of entertainers could, say, all pick up missions in one city, go there en masse, and do a series of shows. Meanwhile they'd gain visibility to other players lucky enough to be there.

Finally, the missions should have some limits of where they'll spawn (ie not in the Spice Fiend combat zone), but not be confined to cantinas and hotels only. That way entertainers can see more of the cities, and the cantinas won't fill up with several missions' worth of fatigued NPCs.

I see nothing wrong with the current missions that exist for entertainers. The only addition I would add is to place NPCs there to actually be entertained rather than some random waypoint. Whatever changes and additions you make, please don't forget the other teir in entertainer... the Image Designer. Even in the current setup of travel to point A and perform X for so long, it shouldn't be tough to include them by having them ID the NPC(s) that are there.

One thing I would include is higher pay missions for entertainers that take them to remote planets (like the multiplanet delivery). Once there, I'm sure they could be encouraged to stay by the local PC population who often hurt for entertainment.
