Thread: Mini-publish 8.1 Feedback: Image Designer Enhancements, HQ Vulnerability Timer, and other fixes.
Ceroshin wrote:"Stat Migration: Image Designers now have the sole ability to migrate player stats."Here's my issue with this patch:When Smugglers requested actual smuggling ability around the time of the Imperial Crackdown, we were told it wouldn't happen, because SoE wouldn't take abilities away from the rest of the playerbase to provide us with content. However, with this patch, you did that VERY THING for Image Designers. Why the double standard?
The above is an excellent example of hypocrisy.
The following is an example of sarcasm: Thanks for taking away existing functionality. Could you take away some more stuff too? That would be just great.
In all seriousness, I think this is a VERY poor change.
the mission owner actually does get the full reward. he merely gets a system message about recieving the shared part. i've been doing some testing of this the past few days. it only happens like this when the mission owner doesn't have enough cash to give the rest of the group their cut. kinda weird how it actually works. but, yeah. the system messages are totally screwy

Seems like the bug where you dont get cash from the mission (destroy) is back. Wasnt like that two days ago. Happens more frequently when in big groups. The missions owner gets a shared part (not the full reward). And the rest of group get nothing.
You better fix this! Im very low on cash!
Rubberband bug is back again BIG time (this is on chimera server), find my self up to 500m away when i dismount.
Other then that. Nice changes. Great with the new deathblowing rancors!!! It feels dangerus out there now, didnt really before.
have fun on E3! wish i could be there with you... really i do! (please bring me next time!!!!)

Oh you get it... took me a while to figure out what happened.
I had to tear apart my spatial settings for what channels I received because they inserted a blank one... one I cleared all the channels out of spatial and put them back, my credit rewards were reported for my destroy missions.

This bug affected my group on Starsider on Lok last night. It was very frustrating. We divided everything up as best we could after the run of missions was over. Two of our group of three filed bug reports on it.

Publish 8.1 brings us the Image Designer profession enhancements
Image Design Building (tents): The new Image Designer tents located in Theed, Moenia, Coronet, Bestine and Vreni Island are now active. These locations are where players will go for Stat Migration and Image Design.
Everyone knows we want the player city tents, but they aren't in the game because we need to be funneled into 3 prime locations so people can find us. Lets hope that can change in the future.
Stat Migration: Image Designers now have the sole ability to migrate player stats. The process will take 10 minutes and requires the Image Modification Booth located inside the ID tents. This functionality has been revoked from the general player base and now requires an Image Designer.
IDs didn't want it, the players didn't want it.. across the board, people are generally against the removal of slow stat migration for the general populace. If it's going to stay this way, and I think it is, could we at least remove that blasted Tent requirement? It's very annoying, and makes me likely to charge even more for the service. It's so inconvenient to perform!
Image Modification Booth: Image Designer booths grant the ability to facilitate the new stat migration aspect of the profession and reduces the amount of time needed to perform an ID change in half.
Extra functionality, that's good. Maybe more can be added in the future. I still don't like having to be there to stat migrate...
Holo-Emotes: A new type of "holo-emote" particle effects have been added to the game. Image Designers will sell these limited use, special use emotes to players. There are 16 unique holo-emotes that represent a "holographic" image for a short period of time.
People will complain a lot less about these once they are no longer new. Then those very complainers will be trying them out! I love them. A few of them are kind of ... ehh... If new ones could be added in the future, that would be great.
Increased Colors for all Palettes: Hair color, Skin/Fur Color, Lip Color, Cosmetics, Eye Color, Markings and the existing tattoos will all have new colors added to their current palette choices.
More colors = good. Itty bitty color boxes in the pallettes = eye strain. The boxes need to be enlarged at Master (when you get loads of colors an no more space to view them in), and we need a scroll bar to scroll through them. Either that or bring them up in a new window, or give them more space in the Interface, something. I don't care how it's done, just save my poor eyes!
Also, give us back our number values for our selections (sliders and colors). We used to have them, and they were an excellent tool.
Price Information on UI: During the Image Modification session, the Image Designer and client can now agree to a price for the displayed design changes. Only upon selecting the confirm button for the Image Designer's changes in the "after" window will the client be billed and the changes take effect in a secure fashion.
The secure interface is great. We love it. But while we're talking about money, these timers have forced up Image Design prices. Time is money, and the interface takes up more of it. What's worse, it's removed one of our big markets: Starports & Shuttleports. There isn't enough time in your average shuttle wait to get anything done anymore.
That timer has got to dissapear at Master. At that point, it's served it's purpose.
Dynamic, Real-Time Updating to Client's Interface: The image designers and their client's interface windows will be linked and dynamically synchronized. Both players will see the "before" and "after" images as it is happening.
This is great, though I can no longerrun around secretly seeing what my group members would look like if they were fat!
Image Designer Bug Fixes: Changing a client's hair style from bald can now be undone, eye shapes and eye angles now alter the proper areas, and IDs have the ability to change all male freckles. (i.e. Zabrak and Twi'lek).
Good work.
There is a known issue where hair color changes may not take effect until after the player relogs.
The problem is deep in the bowels of the server architecture, eh? I hope that doesn't mean we're stuck with it. You said it also led to other bugs, but was most visible to Image Designers...
Additional Changes:
Droid Modules
Fixed structure maintenance modules
No comment, know nothing about it.
Guild Hall
Increased the time that it takes for PA hall to decay from lack of maintenance to about 30 days
That should cut down on a few CS Tickets.
HQ's
Fixed the vulnerability time to not fluctuate after a server is restarted
Got it for real this time, eh?
Manual Turrets
Fixed a code string with the AT-ST when using a manual turret
No comment, know nothing about it.
Made sure that players needed to be declared to use manual turrets
Heh. Those pesky covert, unTEFed combatants...
Players can no longer use manual turrets if dead or feigned
Heh.. Those pesky dead or playing dead combatants...
New User Experience
Added warning to the new player final quest info and counter window to relate that the counter does not automatically update without being re-opened
No comment, know nothing about it. This NUE sounds cool though, I might try it out just because.
Stat Migration
Image Designers now have the sole ability to migrate player stats. The process will take 10 minutes and requires the Image Modification Booth located inside the ID tents. This functionality has been revoked from the general player base and now requires an Image Designer.
Already covered it.
Tips
Tip email confirmation should now be received
Good thing. I wonder if we could get a "Bulk" email folder...? People would really really like it, trust me. I've talked about it with people in-game, just never brought it to the forums.
Turrets
Set turrets to a higher level so that they will death blow
Heh, what were they, shy? Now if we could just make them harder to solo...
Give us your feedback on the listed changes for mini-publish 8.1!
Removing the slow stat migration from all players was a poor decision. Not giving even the people who you burden with this responsibilty the opportunity to discuss this, because you knew it would cause backlash from your player base was an even poorer decision. To do all this in order to force a player social interaction that you deem correct is probably the worse choice yet.
I honestly do not understand how you can feel trying to force all players to interact socially in the manner you feel is best is a good thing. Most of us enjoy the grouping and social interaction, I certainly do. Honestly, with some of the issues, and resulting frustration from them the friends i have made in game have kept me coming back when I would have quit. This does not mean that you should be able to force me to interact with others. That is a choice we should be able to make on our own, to suit our style of game play. This game was supposed to include all types of gamers from uber serious gamers, the casual gamer, the player who like to solo, the player who likes to group, and the player who falls into all of these categories depending on their mood. More and more of your content seems to be aimed to forcing gamers into the SOE gamer cookie cutter.
Including dungeons and the like that need groups in order to complete is fine, that is a good way to encourage interaction. Removing a game feature that was available to all players and the giving it to one group, who can't even use it on themselves, to force social interaction is not the way to do this. More large player events, perhaps some even organized by SOE would help in this. The Droid invasion attacks on cities was a great way to get people to interact with each other. The battles were a ton of fun and it was awesome seeing opposing factions battling side by side. At the same time, you were not forcing people to jump in the fray. Why not more things along these lines. Tusken raiders attacking cities on Tatooine would be great to see, and would bring the players in those cities together to beat them back. Please consider better non forcing ways to encourage social interaction in this game. this something we play to get away from our jobs, school, and the rest of RL, so we are not forced into doing what we don't want to.
I totally 110% agree with Galoopa on this.
My suggestion is give players back the stat migration ability, but nerf it a little more. Make it slower than before. This will give people the option of going to an image designer to speed things up or to wait it out themselves.
Why should Players have to pay for a service that was free, andthey could do on their own for almost a full year? That isn't content, that is taking existing content, re-packaging it and trying to pass it off as a new feature that will bring people together.
Runesabre wrote that he felt this would give IDs a new form of respect from other players. That they wouldn't be a novelty profession. Well I can tell you that I still see them as the novelty profession. Just a novelty profession that has a stolen ability that all players used to have.
Well, a few brief comments:
A. Holo-emotes. Cute ... but you seemed to learn absolutely nothing from customer feedback on the vehicle customization kits. Nobody is interested in using purely cosmetic things that only last briefly and provide yet another mind-numbing timesink if you wish to continue using them (recharge).
B. ID timers. Thank god I'm not an ID ... or responsible for listening to their overwhelmingly negative feedback on this. Anybody who'd played this game for 2 days could have told you (and did) what their reaction would be. Simply another major failure to listen to the customer. The Emperor wasn't kidding: You will pay the price for your lack of vision.
C. Tents. Well, you heard the cries for "real content" in the cities that customers have been wailing with despair since Beta, but ... this ain't it. A group of people standing in line hoping to be next in the ID's interminable 10-minute wait queue? That's not content, it's another mind-numbing timesink. Earth to Devs: mind numbing timesinks do NOT equal content ... not anywhere, not any time. You must seriously revise your thesaurus on this one, kids!
They made it nearly impossible to master Image Designer. This cuts down the competition. It enables existing Image Designers to charge inflated prices for stat migration and other services.
I wonder if the image designer’s community set it up that to ensure that there would not be much competition. Check out the Image design board and wittnes this first hand. They have fixed the prices.
Mini-Publish was supposed to contain 3 big pieces...
- ID change (Yup... it WAS changed
) - Shooting Line-Of-Sight modification
- Beta Position announcement
Ummm... 1 of 3 ???
(Yeah, I'm waiting for 3 myself
)

/agree completley.
Put the slower Stat Migration ALL Players have had the ability to use, themselves, anytime, BACK IN. Giving I.D.'s the ability to do it, and in 10 minutes, is fine. It gives players the OPTION to go to an I.D. and pay to have it done much faster, if they CHOOSE to. But taking the ability completley away fromeveryone thatHAD the CHOICEto do it themselves slowly, is just plain WRONG. Not to mention the so-called "reasoning" behind it. I, with many others, are getting sick to death of this SOE forced interaction crap. There is more than enough of it as it is, with already existing aspects, and ALL of the new "content" (Dungeons), ALREADY.
To keep taking abilities like this away players had already, is NOT going to be a thing to get more people together, it will however, get more people AWAY.And that doesn't mean, from each other, but the game, itself...

Does this fix apply to pre-existing droids with the module?
if so, then it's not working for me,sincei am still not able to call or edit the maint. list
