JustG - I'm encouraged by this, but can I say one thing?

You're putting a lot of value in our Correspondants, which is right, so could I politely request that a new Commando correspondant is appointed very quickly as we will otherwise have an unfair disadvantage at getting our issues to you?

Bleh! I jumped at this thread to read more about those new mini-publish. Also wanted to know if we could go to the Hutt Casino in the Social Adventure even if we have no social professions. The Star Destroyer and Death Watch Hideout sound awesome too. When I read your title, I got excited that more details were being published. Imagine my disappointment...

Why is the combat balance being put off?
The combat balance is another massive overhaul. We want to get a lot of player feedback from it, and make sure we have it right before we put it in the game (to avoid another Crafting Experimentation situation).

JustG,

My problem and main concern with the delay of the end of the combat revamp / extending of the timeline is that for whatever reasons we have already gotten 'pieces' of the revamp. At least one developer (I'm going to guess TH, but I did not go back and look) has talked about a "painful" period of time where combat changes don't feel right and may or may not throw balance *off* until the end of the revamp. When you first put in some of these changes (bleeds for example), I questioned the need for this limbo period to myself - wondered why it couldn't all wait to go in together, but I didn't say anything on these boards because the end was in sight (pub 8 or 9).

The end is no longer in sight. Not from where I sit as player, paying on a month to month basis and not a game designer planning to be employed on this project for a few years into the future. This isn't my first MMPORG and I can tell you that in terms of my own gaming habits pubs 9 or 10 are a lifetime away.

So, given these timeline changes that you've announced with the combat balance can you please tell us if you plan on doing anything to lessen the pain of this "painful period"* now that it will be lasting 2 or more times longer then you first planned on? Have you thought about reversing any of the changes you've made to combat in the next pub and releasing them again later on when the end is closer now that you know they work?

* your (well, one of the devs words, possibly TH) words, not mine, describing the time period we have "broken" bleeds and other balance changes that wont make sense till its all done.

Did you even read the state of the game?

Publish 9 is the jedi revamp.

Publish 7 is on live now so 2 publishes out.

Still no one has said whether the jedi changes are going to take into consideration how far along into the silent holo grind a player is. That's the scary thing about all the jedi business, we might be grinding in vain despite TH's assertion that what we are doing will actually matter.

The thing is, CSR's have been saying the new system will take into consideration if you have done your holos, which means the months someone spent between their last holo and grinding profession #25 will have no impact on their jedi pursuit.

And no one has bothered to tell us why the entire notion of the jedi slot is being taken from us and we will be left with the same character we've had for the last 6 months.

I know SOE has to be tight lipped about the jedi thing. But for a lot of us, that is why we still play the game. If the only reason we're still here is being changed over the next 3 months, we deserve to know some of the quality and justifications of those changes.

let me add my 2 cents too

1)why can't jedi guardians 4444 learn master box ?

2)it seems that the armor hole as been located on the weapon slot. Why its not fixed ?

but seriously can you answer that:

why don't you post a list of aknowledge bugs so we can go on ?

i mean people yell at bugs again and again... why don't you just post a list so WE know at least that you are aware of it.

If you don't want to post this list because some can be used as exploits then it should be priority 1 and not fixed in publish n+5.

in all cases i pay for a beta game that doesnt even give me an idea when the beta is over.

no edit button here.

on the point 1) jedi guardian 4444 to master i had a discussion with Q3PO and thunderheart at the swghoc and they aknowledged that the weren't aware of that bug!

i can point to 1000 posts on jedi board ponting that bug and the guys on contact with US aren't aware ?

we deserve a list of actual bugs!

STOP with this already! How many times do they need to say they will NOT post a list known bugs?!?! Show me ANY other MMORPG that has a list of known bugs posted for everyone to see. You can't can you?

Ok there's many requests to be made here but let me push my most pressing. This is the one that has me ready to retire my character and move to other games.

Poison/Disease incaps and DECAY setting in.

If a combat medic hits you with both and doesn't DB you, you will get decay. Could there be anything more contradictory to a "no griefing policy"?

Some of us are kinda stuck into hologrinding... we know it will unlock if we do all the professions.... this takes time and some of use would like to know how long we have (roughly) till we can expect this change.
Can you give us a ETA JustG? At the rate publishes are being pushed out I'm thinking 3 months from now?

I can certainly sympathize with this person, and I'm still working with holos that give me clues! Any indication so those of us caught in the middle can fish or cut bait? Can you talk a little bit more about what holo-grinding up until the change will result in given the new system, A.K.A. how does current holo "quest" status directly change where the character is in the new system? Perhaps just a badge that says "Holo-ground Jedi?" for those that are grandfathered in? Just kidding! I think this comes down to people needing to know that being 50% of the way through your list of holo-professions puts you at 50% of the quest complete.
Definite answers for most professions are needed, as there really can't be any change until everyone quits holo-grinding. Until then the crafting/resource gathering/hunting systems will be slanted as they are currently. Holo-grinding sized blocks of resources are still the order of the day on Bloodfin. The only people that stopped cold turkey are the fighters that got crafting professions and the crafters that never wanted to fight anyway. It's even more maddening for those with silent holos...

Gary,

You nuked creatures drastically as part of this rebalance that is now on hold, pending "player input".

Here's my player input: Unnerf the creatures. Put them back where they were before you swung your nerf bats and borked the con system and crippled CH. Your now coitus-interruptus "rebalance" is what broke CH, and the promise was that the drastic change to creatures would all make sense once the rebalance was complete. Now we're being told that completing the rebalance is on hold.

Which means we've been nerfed, nerfed drastically, and we and we alone have been "rebalanced". There is no balancing for anyone else. You've cripped CH, and your absolutely unapologetic for it.

Why don't you just get it over and delete the profession now. It's obviously what this "rebalance" was intended to do all along.

Also, I highly recommend you kill the star system permanently. It's being used by fanboi fascists to suppress dissent, and SOE is aiding and abetting this suppression of anyone who dares to raise uncomfortable questions. I fully expect the fanboi thugs to one star this post.

BTW, I'm also getting very angry at the refusal of the Lithium system to allow me to use the avaliable tools to quote prior posts and then post them because "You're not allowed to use HTML". I'm only using the stock tools, and it prevents me from posting conveniently and intelligently. This is frankly becoming intolerable.

Nice to see a little follow up from you so quickly.

It's amazing how when you have such a great thing going, how glaring all the collected problems and complaints become.

I am glad that you recognize the problem that the holo-grind has caused and freely admit to your guilt in causing it (hehe not just YOU speciffically JustG).

I just want to make sure you realise that there are some of us that have really gone through the process, trying to maintain a certain level of integrety.

And that some of those people are NOT naturally power gamers.

I bring this up to make you understand that any changing of the FSS reward (speciffically removing the second slot and/or making the main character force sensitive)is a real affront to the non-power gamers that HAVE toiled through the holo-grind. (maybe other types of gamers feel the same way as well)

While there are those that have not gone through the holo-grind and would be happy to have their main character become force sensitive, that is not what many of us have been so unnaturally working towards. And after our efforts have gone on for so long, it is not right to remove the reward we have been working to accomplish.

Iknow that for myself, as a natural roleplayer / somewhat of a casual gamer, going through this system has been a truly exhaustive experience... only fueled by my fanatic desire to immerse myself in the role of a Jedi.

It has been very apparent, to me, that not much of this game's post-launch development has been aimed at role-players and casual gamers, instead you've been forced to focus on balancing for and appeasing the more extreme go-getters and power-gamers.

While obviously their nature forces you toHAVE to focus on them in order to keep the game running, and yes they help us all by testing the boundaries, I only ask that you all continually make mental notes to respect and care for other types of gamers.

All types of playersplay games for fun, and no one type of player is any greater than the other.

I know I'm not telling you anything you don't know, but sometimes, especially in the heat of things, it's easy to lose sight of the true meaningsof these simple things.

Back to the FSS topic... Getting rid of the holo-grind and making a complex quest system is a great idea.

Changing the actual reward to be something completely different than what has been stated since well before launch, at launch and since... is completely wrong.

The path to opening the FSS is like no other thing in gaming history, IMO.

Maybe it could be compared to the early days of trying to "Beat" PacMan.

Regardless, while you have the power tocompletely alter the reward for the grinding that I have been going through, making the mentioned change would completely destroy my reasons for even starting my efforts. I find that completely unacceptable and I would think that you have to understand and agree with this reasoning.

(P.S. I only use labels for types of players in this post for simplicity. Instead of using a whole bunch of words every time I mention the different types of playing styles, I have just used silly labels, that we all know have huge variances within and between... If you take offense to any of the things I said about those labels, then you are likely not one of those to which I am referring and should have taken none)
