JustG, you MUST overhaul the crackdown or it will kill Smugglers.
Let me make this clear for everyone:
- Imperial Crackdown = scans for contraband
- Avoiding contraband scans = smuggling
Part of the ImperialCrackdownregulates characters' abilities to smuggle, plain and simple. It's not a complicated system, and it's far from final, but this is smuggling, as primitive as it may be.
Too many people are looking at this as if everyone in the game is entitled to operate in the underworld like a Smuggler.
Etc etc..
The Empire is currupt, simple as that.
I dont think it'll kill smugglers, just means they have to play smarter..

Publish 6 will go Live next Thursday, February 12th, 2004.
Let the Imperial Crackdown begin!

I hope to see more communication along these lines. I also hope that the contraband/smuggling aspect of the crackdown will be REMOVED until it can be worked out more satisfactorily. Leave the scans to only detect rebels for now as the contraband system is FAR too controversial, given its current form.

I applaud you for setting deadlines, and communicating them to your userbase. I want to caution you however in giving the date as an exact date. Sometimes things happen that you cant control, and the userbase hasn't exactly been (darth vader voice
"forgiving" lately.
I'd be satisfied with "the publish is scheduled to go live" rather than "the publish will be released"
Can you provide one point of clarification.
If an COVERT rebel is scanned, they go OVERT according to the powst by TH earlier in the week. Should this not be TEF'ed?
A TEF will take us out of action, assuming we survive, for 5 minutes.
Being forced OVERT will take us out of action for over an hour.
For a crafter class, this is kind of a raw deal.
Please help us understand why if this is so, that this should be the only way other than voluntarily to be made overt?
Thanks,
Lazurk

about **edit** time you told us. Trickle out monday through wednesday so we can wait another week. Lovely
grow up
Info for anxious players = good.
Taking the time to crush nasty bugs = good.
Waiting = fact of life.
Whining about it = childish.
Like the way someone else does it better? Go already and save everyone the grief.
Cheers to the team for working for a good publish and working to improve communication with us.
