Thread: Publish 10.2 feedback

Sure ... its more coding to get it working ... but it will actually help solve database size issues as millions of emails would no longer be in their databases but actually on peoples hardrives.Their solution just means more email traffic stored on their databases as large emails get split into two emails ... not what you would consider a good solution.Speaking as a software developer in real life ... I would gone for local storage with IG access.
What he said. The emails should ALWAYS have been stored localy just as all the graphics/sounds/effects etc. All the chat windows could/should have been local as well. Now there are a number of reasons to have chat kept at the server level due to client thruput issues but the email could/should have downloaded from the beginning. People are used to having to wait a little for the download and the /mailsave command would not be needed.

I think your newsletter is worthwhile, but I am not convinced that they have really done much harm in placing this limit. I had a lot of old emails stored in my account that I was too lazy to delete. I don't blame them for wanting to free up some resources for other things.
Exactly why I went with local storage for my users. then when they whined about lack of space I simply explained to them they could delete stuff from their own hard drive and get more space for their emails. Much fewer headaches for me and happier users because they had more of a feeling that they controlled their space.

Goldy you should maybe try a profession that gets lots of dev love and attention, like smuggler. We are happy people!

The result is smaller records ... but more records. Working as a software developer it strikes me as a bad decision, but I can see why they've done it. Reducing the cap on the number of emails would have been very bad for busy merchants and yet again a bad decision. As it stands ... downloading the mails to the client with in game access to them would have been the best idea and not exactly hard to implement.
I think they went for the quick fix ... not the good fix.

Get in line. ![]()
You could wait a full YEAR with things promised such as profession-specific quests. Or almost next to never...
Ahh the life of a Smuggler...who doesn't...smuggle. Yup! ![]()

Problem: This publish "broke" my launchpad...simply put I had to reinstall the game, and it is still simply stauling on the downloads...not estimated download time...it just sits there...looking like a Dev...4 hours and counting...and stillnothing...every trick in the book I know, for every other damn publish/update the Devs have sent to live....
Problem: Every problem reported on the Update, and Publish 10....has either been an "oops" statement...or an "not assigned statement"...How about this for a solution....ASSIGN THEM.
Problem: Alleged Combat Revamp "Documents" slated to be released 2 WEEKS ago, have still not been made public. Solution: Get off your ass and do your job.
Your game is sinking...we the customer base are getting more p i ss ed with every publish, every update and every single problem you, The Dev team, ignore, or have not gotten around to "assigning"...how many people will be here for JTL...do you think? And don't kid yourself, you asses should have included this at LAUNCH...what kind of SPACE game, has no SPACE content?? That is just truly sad.
If JTL is s h i t, I am gone. And will use the most powerful form of advertisement to ensure this game tanks, word of mouth.
I am immensely frustrated. Where is the Star Wars? Save your BS answers for someone else. My Post offensive to you? I don't give a sh it. For you don't give ash itabout us. And no BS, but we do care post will change that...your ACTIONS speak louder than your lies.

Ok, this is me, sucking it in...The patcher works fine now, I keep forgetting that Shadowbane was far more buggy than this, and that it is just a game. I too love this game and want to see it succeed. I just have to remember there are 1k others posting things they would like changed and it must be a cacophony of noise to the Dev team. So, I apologize for being this ....well, tactless, and rude.If you feel the need Tiggs, Pounce away.
