Thread: Weekly Rountdable Discussion (Week Ending 1-18-04)
Something needs to be done abut the holo-grinding entertainers. I go into a cantain hopignto work on some XP for my profession and I find a mega group of ginders all AFK - including the leader. Can a control be placed to prvent leader ship to be passed to someone AFK and if they are AFK for more the say 30 minutes, a non-AFK and pesumable non-marcoer can take control pf the group to prevent true entertainers from getting locked out of gaining group XP.
Sometimes these AFK groups are the majority of the entertainers and thus suck-up the potential heling XP from compeating groups.
Just a thought and a bit of a rant.

On further investigation, there have been 2 replies from TH against the 220+ posts to this thread so far.
Please feel free to explain to us how this in anyway improves two-way communication...?
Now 1 reply per 100 from Dev to Player is excellent. EXCEPTthis shoddy joke of a Thread contains 150 topics.
I implore all of you. Only enter one reply to this thread....and let that reply be
"Bring back player created centralisedgeneral discussion threads".
My 2 credits: Will we ever see the nighttime starfield pass properly behind planets rather than over the top of them?
I agree with the person who posted about the lack of creatures on Lok. Used to be my 2nd favorite planet (next to Tatooine) but now it seems as if the creatures have been "hunted to extinction".
It should also be easier to post colored text. Have an interface. For those who don't want to see colored text, have an option to turn it off. I don't know a lot about code, but it seems like this should be possible.
The Exploration badges...
Sure its cool to be able to earn badges easy, but i got the feeling that uberleet ppl had like 5 badges and that was it... i wanted to read the badges they had and wonder where they got them.
Now everybody has 25+ badges and it takes a couple of minutes to finish the window scrollbar to resize, sure its cool. But it makes me give up on reading them all and thats a pity cause i might find something interesting.
My point is: Can you put the exploration badges somewhere seperat, fx under the Bio or somewhere else. Just so it gets seperated from the hardtoget badges like master badges (which i think is a stunningly good idea, keep them) or the GCW or the 5 special badges for honor loyalty and so on.
Please make it cool to have badges again and make me want to read peoples badges of what they have acheived, not where they sped by on their speeder.

Closing the SWG discussion board was a very bad idea, IMO. Sometimes there are issues that all players need to know about and if only posted on a server board, many players could potentially lose items or time that they have worked hard on. For example, lets say that there is a game breaking bug where if you do [insert something here], your character's items all disappear. Now, if this was posted on the SWG discussion board, potentially many people would see this. If this happened on only 1 server, I highly doubt that this person would go through on each individual server and repost it. That just takes up too much time. Plus the server boards are all cluttered up with trade posts and don't get as much good input as some threads could if they were on the main board, getting expertise from those on all servers, instead of just one. The SWG discussion board almost had 1 million posts...was that a factor in closing it? The number of posts there compared to all other boards should show you that this is the most popular board. I really have no idea why you decided to shut it down.
Thunderheart, you wrote this:
"4. The SWG Discussion Forum will be removed to help focus game development discussions and make sure that community suggestions, comments and contributions are catalogued in forums that will be read and tracked by the development team. Please use your Galaxy forums for general SWG discussions.
We want to keep the best parts of the SWG discussion forum, so we encourage comments about what other types of forums would be a benefit to the community with the knowledge that they will not get developer attention."
How is removing the most popular board going to help focus game development discussions? Players NEED a central place to come to where they can discuss issues. Why not just reopen the discussion forum and make a notice that developers will not read any topics there? If players want something to be known to a dev, they will simply post it on the appropriate, new forum.
One more thing, look at all other games out there. Personally, in every single one that I have played, there has always been a general board. That is because it is a very constructive place for players to go to share their thoughts.
Thanks for your time.
Please fix the various problems with the vehicles. The radial menu 90% of the time gives me "Exit Vehicle" when I'm not in my vehicle, and "Enter Vehicle" when I'm already on the thing.
Also noticed with vehicles: If I'm driving around and for some reason I get stuck on something, and the vehicle finds a way to keep going, then I dismount.... the vehicle will zoom away from me, usually back in the direction of whatever made it get stuck. (I hope that made sense)
I'm really sick of shuttle wait times. Like, REALLY sick of them. It sucks when I play for maybe an hour or so and a quarter of that time (maybe more) is spent just waiting for a shuttle.
I don't have any specific combat complaints, Im pretty happy with my bounty hunter.
It would be very nice to have a better bazaar interface...
Is it just me or does the UI seem to be very unresponsive sometimes?
I want the stupid ticket vendor to take my ticket the first time i double click on him. Having to use the ticket from my inventory is an undocumented work-around that shouldn't be the best way to get on a shuttle.
Is there ANY possible way for you guys to streamline the SWG engine? Some way to make it run better on current machines? I have a pretty beefy computer but sometimes I'm disgusted at how badly this game runs. We really shouldn't need a gigabyte of RAM to run it at a decent framerate.
Will those promised new guns I've been hearing about be added to the game sometime soon?
Is there an ETA on the Space Expansion?
Could we PLEASE get more information on the Space Expansion?
Please bring back the SWG Discussion forum... Please.
That's all I can think of right now.
I like to know when/ city caps for shuttles get looked at or if a dev could actually become involved in the servers and be a little lenient. We have 55 people but cannot eve get a shuttle because the original 10 cities that went up when first released have theirs.
I would really love to see Sony/LA reward players for thoughtfulness here. You can look on several planet maps and see towns within 2 mins run of each other, houses/structures dropped all over the place with little or no uniformliness.
It really galls me to know end that we started our city within a month of release if that long, and since day 1 have kept a well plannedway of building our layout only to be stopped by being so far out in the boonies was no way we could even compete in the first rush to plant them, and now we seem to be hindered by a cap, which I understand, but seems to reward the ones who just plopped everything as fast as they could and called it a city. There is a total of 5 of these cities on 1 planet that must have their borders touching they are so close and yet they have shuttles while we and others who planned on remote sites are yet once again left to ride/run to ours even tho we can support a shuttle.
I really hope you devs take a moment to actually SEE this and try to make some amendments for it, I feel like I let 60 people down now and have no clue what to tell them. We have made another PC richer using THEIR shuttle and I imagine so will others just to get to ours. For one we built by a battlefield which wont be seen working for 3 months and kind of ruined our attractiuon power atm, and now we are struggling to keep our people interested in staying.
Yes I know the caps were mentioned last patch but heck I figure half of these guys would fail but it dawned on me that alot of players out there are prolly sitting on millions in cash and can just keep city going by themselves. Now we have to wait for what, an expansion pack to increase planet size?
All I ask is that someone re-evaluate this cap thing and maybe give server CSR some powers that can make judgment calls. I would really love it if you had designed a time stamp to struxctures dropping and see that we were here before half the mad rush to build.
Like I said it seems there are few rewards for planning and long range goals here and its all first come first serve.
1. Un-nerf the T21 rifle to its previous status, especially since it was nerfed because people were getting one-shotted BEFORE PvP damage reduction
2. Un-nerf the Krayt FWG5 pistol, in other words put powerhandlers back in. The nerf has driven the price of these guns quite high, and if another loot drop modifies weapons in a fashion similar to that of krayt tissue, why was the nerf even put in? It's just one loot drop or another...krayt or this new one do same thing
3. I am very glad that item decay for PvP was removed. However, I still think that decay on death needs to be removed entirely. Wasn't decay put in partly because everyone took the suicide shuttle? Well, with vehicles people don't do much of that anymore, so there is no need for decay. Crafters' business is being hurt, not helped, by decay.
4. Let the Imperials use their AT-STs for PvE. I am Rebel and I'm saying this. While I agree that a player with 3 AT-STs is overpowered, I don't think it's fair to the Imperials that they can only use AT-STs for PvP.
5. Allow TEFed players to enter theirOWN houses, even if no other player structures. Yes I know, there is camping. But there are only so many lots a player can have, there is no way to get more. This limit will limit the camping.
6. Differentiate between "food" and "spice" on the bazaar e.g. classify yarrock as "spice"
7. Save settings on exit and logon. Often I lose my friends list and XP monitor settings when I relog.
8. Please un-nerf non-CH pets so non-CHs can use their old level 15 pets again.
9. If a nerf must be applied, apply it evenly, in other words don't allow "pre-nerf" items to exist.
10. Add a typed command allowing a player to store a vehicle as an alternative to the radial menu.
11. Un-nerf krayt dragon HAM. 400k HAM is just too high...I can understand that 50k HAM might have been too easy for soloing...maybe change the HAM to 120k or so, but not quite as high as it is now. (Krayt tissue prices are climbing.)
12. Higher-paying Entertainer missions would be nice...100-180 credits is nothing these days, not even enough for a tip. Also, grant Master Entertainers some skill mods similar to those of dancers and musicians, but weaker...maybe +25 musical and dancing mind enhancement, +2 melee and ranged defense, something like that.
13. In Haden Blackman's oldinterview with IGNthere was something mentioned about Jedi being used in PvP. Uh, no way is that going to happen if the Jedi can help it (except in battlefields). Not with permadeath...so if SOE wants Jedi to PvP outside of battlefields, permadeath should be removed and replaced with a system that is somewhat less penalizing. Maybe partial loss of skills, but not total.
14. We need our Discussion board back. Galaxy and professionforums aren't really that great a place to discuss very general ideas for development, and any posts about development made in the Game Guides forum are off topic and get closed.
15. It would be nice to have a forum about Moderation suggestions...I emphasize that I am not trying to bring about modification of SoE's policies, but sometimes players may have constructive criticism about how moderation is done
16. Thank you for removing item decay from PvP, reducing the cost of insurance, NOT adding player looting and not putting back corpse runs!
17. Remove decay from all tools, or at least show a tool's condition pointsas with armor, clothes and weapons
18. Thank you for the Christmas holocrons. That was an excellent idea.
Those aren't stars.

They're ...uhm... Fireflies! Yeah, that's it! High-altitude fireflies!
Seriously, tho, I've wondered about this since day 1.
However, given all the other issues this game has, it's somethng I can live wth.
How sad would it be if they made a hotfix for it tomorrow?
(I'm yelling on purpose, sorry.)
Letmy player character steal the millenium falcon and fly it anywhere I want. That's an addition youdevs should have been working on PRE-beta!
Oh yeah, only my character should be allowed to do it.
