Get ready for the resurection of all the vendor interface bugs you have ever seen and some new ones with the new update. Also they'll be sure to do it on a Friday again, so we'll have to live with them over the weekend.
I laugh.

thers a little bug im having, not that big of a deal if i pick up merchant but if it isnt fixed itll mean one less vendor for me.My house disapeared(with vendor in it) due to lack of maintanace.I have business 4 and wen i try to place a vendor it says the max vendors limit message and of corse dosent let me make a vendor, although the destroyed after no use for however many weeks thing will most likely solve this,so i dont even know why im posting this.

Here is a thought to expand the merchants ablitity to use all of their vendors while making a profit at it....
1) Allow them to rent out their vendors....They can rent out their vendors while at the same time charge a tax/fee that is payed hourly/daily like operation costs...The rentor will pay this fee and if they want to put the vendor on the planetary map they will have to pay that fee as well...
2) The rentor, once the vendor is placed, will have full control and access of the vendor....The merchant will have no access and the rental price is fixed once the vendor is placed...
3) The merchant call also sell storage space...With the new limits put on merchants...The merchant can sell space as well as a tax/fee thats tacked on the rental fee...
3) If the vendor is unmaintained by the rentor and the maintenance pool goes to 0 then full access goes to the merchant...Like when renting storage space, when you stop paying its theirs....Its up to the rentor to keep up with the maintenance costs...you can put like a 2-3 day grace period as well and possibly get out warning emails too...
Conclusion: To satisfy the smiths in the game and do away with empty vendors this might be an avenue the devs might want to take a look at....The merchant will get hourly/daily xp for renting out the vendor and the smiths can sell their goods without putting skill points into the business/merchant tree....The main reason there are sooo many empty vendors is because most merchants dont have enough stuff to sell and just put them up with catchy names trying to get xp...If you allow the merchant to rent them out you not only satisfy the merchants needs of xp and more $$$, but you also satisfy the smiths needs of selling their product without having to sell it at a below market value to a merchant so he can sell it at market value and still make a profit...

This is still unacceptable. 12 vendors? And a Master Merchant should have the ability to have UNLIMITED items on his vendors.
What in the world do you sell that requires more than 4000 items?

Hasn't the Star Wars economy really taken off beyond all expectations? Why try to control and diminish it, why not help it out? Doesn't success suggest greater possibility? What are we afraid of?
Why do we need to run around the galaxy to find a vendor offering what we want? Star Wars is far in the future. We in 2004 can sit at home and use our computers to browse and order from our choice of vendors. We can compare and select what we want. We can buy what we choose and have it shipped to us promptly. Why should our characters in the Star Wars universenot have at leastthose abilities? Why not make things easier and simpler to do?

Th,
I unlike others think the current merchant situation as it stands now is acceptable. However, I use a storage merchant because of the unfair limitations placed on our housing. I am not asking for huge storage limits to be placed, I understand why you have implemented them. The way it stands now though I will not be able to store items on a vendor and the house I have chosen as my home doesn't store as much as it should considering the points I have spent on it.
You currently can create mediums house that have a much larger storage amount in mass then a large generic house 250 items yet the point cost is the same. For the current floor plan of these large houses it is pretty harsh considering the increased amount of decorum that we have to choose from or now can collect.
As the game continues this will only increase and eventually we wont be able to fully decorate our houses and display the rare items we have collected while also decorating our houses with Architect goods. I was wondering is there any way to get them to add a more fair based storage ratios for the points that we spend on our houses, for example, 75-100 points of storage for each slot that the house uses. That way Large Houses and Guild Halls points cost can be justified while allowing those of us who dont have storage to both decorate our homes while still having space to store things that we come across and wish to keep or use later.
I believe this would be fair to us as a community considering not all of us care to cross server trade for lots.In getting rid of these storage vendors, which isnt nessesarly bad, while still mainting the current storage limits Large houses it will force many of use into this situation.

Hi
Maybe i have missed the post but can someone point me the post that answer this question ? :
What will happen to the players that have currently 6 vendors up, holding 1000+ items and no business skill after the patch get applied ? According to player's repplies their items will be on sale for 3 weeks after which they end up in the stockroom and disapear.
Our maincharacter is a 1 year old Weaponsmith with multiple combat skills and 6 vendors (stocked).
After beeing suggested by several SOE employees (including CSR) to surrender our merchantand business skills to retreive some skill points. I fail to seehow these changes will benefit our gaming experience.
Since my friend andmyself like to hunt we can not surrender the combat skills on our weaponsmith. And because it's a weaponsmith and we want to keep making weapons and resellthemwe need the vendors. And becausewe can not use someone else vendor asthis will require a thrustworthy altruism player which can not be found on our Server we don't see how we can keep stocking and selling weapons.
So how are we supposed to be able to sell our weapons and hunt if we have no business skills ?
And what will happen to all the players like our Weaponsmith ?
Can someone point me the clear answer from the DEVS in regard to all the subscriberswho arethis category ?
I'm very sorry guys but if we can no longerhunt and sell our crafted weaponswe will quickly lose our interest to this game. Is that what the devs want ?

Um... you think so? How far in the future, do you think? I was under the impression that this took place... Long, Long Ago? Maybe I'm wrong.

Hi guys, just doing some vendor work b4the patches come in, and ive noticed
1. everytime u go to resell an item from the stock, u have to cancel out of it, that sucks, do u think my wrists can take much more, carpal tunnel i suppose.
2. the realism in this game sucks. people mastering professions in a day,
3. nerfing vendors- lower the skillpoints to get merch, the 99999999 item storage , fix it, how? make the houses hold unlimited items, but a pay per place through maintenance. so if u have over 1000 items u would be paying on 1000 items say 50 cpi thats 50k a week,my biggest **edit** is that, SOE u have stifled my creativity for the last time. if i do not see some kinda changes to houseing and item placeing u can bet im gonna find a game that lets me explore my creative side in building decorating houses,, ALSO MAKE A FLIP COMMAND SO I CAN ROTATE STUFF UP AND DOWN INSTEAD OF JUST SIDE TO SIDE. /FLIP 30
4. yOURMONTHLY FEE FOR SED GAME IS OUTRAGOUS, DROP IT TO 10 BUX PLZ,, QUIT BEIN MONEY GRABBIN MONGERS.
5 allow a ALT char after sed time 6 months of playing. this is about right, i have played for about 5months and iam starting to feel a need to get an alt char. You know what sucks is i payed almost 100 bux forthis game and still paying and my son cant play this game because it only allows one char per server. GARBage. JLT u better give people a extra char to use for the jtl expansion.iam not switching my doc over for a shipwright cuss u guys think it would add realism. YO i dont ride a bike right now.but i sure as hell didnt forget how, same with all professions if i learn how to cook, does my toon go stupid and forget everything its learned.IDEA. INSTEAD OF MAKING THE TOONS FORGET SKILLS MAKE IT SO THEY LEARN A SKILL EVERYTIME THEY MASTER A PROFESSION. SO IF YOUR A MASTER ARTISAN AFTER MASTERING IT LIKE 10 TIMES U GET TO BUILD SWOOPS WITHOUT HAVEING TO RELEARN MASTER ARTI. sAME WITH VENDORS I THINK U GUYS ARE GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION BUT WITH THE WRONG INTENTIONS. DO NOT MAKE PLAYER S KEEP MERCH SKILLS TO USE VENDORS. IF I WENT TO SCHOOL TO LEARN BUSINESS,THEN DROPPED OUT TO BECOME A COOK, DO U THINK I FORGET EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT BUSINESS, NOPE. MERCH IS A SECONDARTY SKILL THAT DOESNT REALLY EVEN NEED TO BE THERE. DAM I KNOW WHY I PAY A MONTHLY FEE FOR THIS GAME. ITS CUSS IAM A MORON, WHO THINKS ONE DAY U GUYS MAY GET IT RIGHT.i was looking forward to playing swg for years to come, cuss its about all i do besides raising a family.guess if things dont start changing soon and soe quits being stupid about how they do things i may go to eq2. i want all professions fixed b4 JTL comes out its been what a year. since the servers came up. time to get it right b4 u throw a expansion at us and expect us to eat another 70 buck bill. so what now! u gonna charge an additional monthly fee to play JTL to. iam allreadyon the verge of quitting. Dont push me soe.

Praise to the 'Devs' for this lame compromise is DISGUSTING. IT'S NOT AN IMPROVEMENT, as several have said. It's another 'nerf' or removal of the abilities and attributes we bought into when we started the game. The only good thing I can say about it is it is a reasonable starting point for a compromise. Issues of fairness to Merchants and Customers have not been addressed and they need to be.
SINGLE-LINE ITEM QUANTITY is an issue that the 'Devs' will resist but it's so important. This one change would help balance the powerbetween big-ticket item sellers and big-volume or big-quantity sellers. It would allow such simplification of the buyer and seller interfaces. It would reduce the database size greatly and speed up the transfer of vendor information.

This is not good enough! It may be fine for big-ticket item sellers but it still penalizes sellers who want or have to specialize in high-volume/low-cost items such as (myself) resources or clothes or decorative items etc.
The SINGLE-LINE ITEM VOLUME
