I never got both xp so I have no clue what everyone is talking about I've only gotten jedi xp when using the LS except when I dropped all my skills and started working the initiate tree.
Lightsaber 1-4 takes LIGHTSABER XP. Not Jedi XP. Check your experience list to see how much of it you have.

My issues are;
2) Sabre damage right now is totally unacceptable. Why should a second gen sabre do less than half the damage of an average power hammer?An average training sabre shoulddo more damage than the best constructed melee weapod PERIOD.
That's a straw man arguement if I ever saw one. Lightsabres require loot to build. Regular weapons do not. If lightsabres are going to be so difficult to construct, then they should be better than other weapons. Also balance is not an issue. My current sabre on live is around 1400 max, and I hit for about 200 in PvP. Divide 128-233 by 7 and you get 18-33 in PvP under the current system. This is ridiculous by any standard. And we will be under the current combat system for quite some time. Sabre damage needs to stay the same till the combat revamp, when it can be scaled. As it stands, sabres do not do enough damage to deal any serious damage in Jedi vs Jedi duels to even warrant their use in them. It all comes down to powers use.
Also, not everyone is going to be a Jedi, so trying to make the arguement that weaponssmith and tailor will be unviable as professions because of the Jediis just a foolish assumption.

Um thats what I said when I wasn't playing initiate I wasn't getting LS XP. When I was taking the LS tree under the new Jedi Skills I was getting 14 Jedi XP every LS special and Jedi xp after something was killed.
Ahh, misunderstood. Sry

Well, first of all the best non-lightsaber weapons *do* use rare loot such as krayt tissues, acklay bones and geonesian power cubes to be made. Second, I am not saying that lightsabers should not be more powerful than they are right now (although they do have the advantage that *nothing* is resistant to them). I just don't think that the crummiest training saber should be better than all non lightsaber melee weapons. If jedi are so much more powerful than any other combat class, then what is the reason not to try your best to be a jedi?
Also, not everyone is going to be a Jedi, so trying to make the arguement that weaponssmith and tailor will be unviable as professions because of the Jediis just a foolish assumption.
I am not saying that they *will* become jedi. I am saying that if jedi becomes unbalanced that is all that anyone will want to be. I am also saying that if there are too many jedi that most of the crafting classes will suffer.
If jedi are too powerful, then I can only see two outcomes. 1) If they are easy to get then almost everyone will want to play one because it is the most powerful class. We already see this in the game when one class is more powerful than the others. 2) If they are very difficult to get then a handfull of people will completely dominate the game. Do you want to PvP? Well if it is against a jedi you automatically lose. Does the jedi want to steal your kill? There is nothing you can do about it. Does the jedi want to camp a cave to make lots of money? Well, you can't compete so give up. So in otherwords, all classes have to be balanced in a game like this and that *includes* jedi. They simply can't be super powerful like in the movies or it hurts the game for everyone else.

Cool gimps.. sounds like fun.
In the movies, nobody could stand ground alone with a jedi, and since jedi have bounties and tef's on them all the time they should be much more powerful than a probot. Jedi are meant to battle other jedi. being more powerful than all the other elite profs should be a perk of the ultra time consuming and lucky process to become FS in the first place. When Obi wan hit the guy in the cantina that attacked Luke, that guy's arm fell off, he didn't hit him for 100 saber damage before getting incapped by a novice brawler.
As far as not relying on crafters.. as it is jedi have to live and train in seclusion, so that only makes sence. God knows the grinders have already given up millions to crafters and miners already.
