Re: socketing

Thunderheart,

I am really really upset about this socketing change. Is it because I care so much about sockets? No, but I've been a tailor since very close to launch. In that time we've gotten almost no developer attention at all. The *only* new pieces of clothing that we've gotten over this time are chef items which quite frankly we didn't ask for and they serve such a small market to us that it really makes no impact to us at all. We've had "top 5" lists all this time that have been completely ignored. Obvious bugs have been ignored, and no new content has been added.

So what *really really* hurts from my perspective is that the first developer attention we get comes in the form of a nerf. Its a simple fact that today I can't make clothing quite as well as I could a week ago, and that hurts. You've said many times that you guys make an effort to try to make changes that "make the game more fun". What happened to that motto with regard to this change? Am I having more fun being a tailor than before? No, I'm having less fun then before because I make clothing worse then before.

A response would be appreciated.

Try being an architect. We got merchant tents. I've sold TWO since the week after they were implemented.

We got garages (Thank you Lord!) but have sold NONE since every cities architect makes them for donation purposes and there's only so many cities.

Architects get a rush of structures and the next week it's back to harvs harvs harvs.

Except for harvs, there is not realistic experimentation on structures that means anything whatsoever.

We STILL have ZERO communication from the developers on questions (through beta and beyond) asked about our most basic and useful products, stations. Shake and rattle those bones and juju beads, cuz you'll get just as much information from them as the dev team (or their spokesman) on this issue.

WeSTILL use 2 lots for our factories which DO NOT WORK CORRECTLY and still have the mystical ERROR #7 bug. Not too mention they do not hold 100 items in the output bin as promised. And before anyone comes back with a heresay answer to this please bring direct quotes from devs on this issue ONLY as evidence or just do not respond.

We STILL have to use our slots in the 5 Top and 10 Top questions series to get answers to storage problems that affect EVERYONE, but that doesn't matter as they STILL haven't been answered.

We STILL have no viable renewable income streams. People do not redo their houses with the frequency of any other products in the game.

We STILL use our voices as the champion for database reservation by changing crates to a standard 100 for everything and resources to 1 million stacks.

We STILL wonder why it's better to have 8 small houses for storage than one guild hall.

/sigh

Cafa, hes saying that everything the tailor get, if ANYTHING, is for another profession. Chef hats and aprons suck, ooo but we get armor segments now! Another thing besides synthetic cloths and rfp's to make for armorsmiths. Now they intentionally change the socketing system for no reason. I'm not saying that we're more important than you, we both need some dev lovin...

I was an architect right after launch. I was in that profession for about a month and a half (nearly an eternity for many crafters). It has changed so much since then I can hardly believe it. Quality matter now, it didn't before, I understand they adressed the crit fail issue, and they've added so many new schematics it's not even funny. This is not sour grapes from me I'm glad, and architect still isn't compelling enough to me to make me want to be one again, just saying I have walked in those shoes and architect has gotten a lot of love compared to tailor.

This isn't quite true, but it seems that way. They have fixed a lot of minor things for us, such as giving sockets on some non-socketed clothing, fixing our missing 55 color bug, adding more color options to some clothing, allowed me to wear a backpack with my grand ball gown (even though it looks silly), etc. We really do need more clothing schematics since tailors live and die by variety and the clothing selection is getting kind of old now.

We have a real problem that needs to be fixed very quickly, though! Whether sockets were not working correctly or not, nerfing clothing without any real decay to remove old clothing from the game is a disaster! It makes our new clothes less desirable than the clothes we made months ago!

Developers:

  • You have proved that you listen. (Wookiee Armor, Up/Down Command)

  • You have proved you can make new objects (Wookiee Armor, Ornate Rug)

Crafters make up at least 50% of the game... they are intrical... so give us new stuff! Even if you do 1 object a week, a different schematic for a different profession (for ex., an architect schematic week #1, a armorsmith one week #2, etc.)Or even better... 2 a week! All the land would praise you! We'd be in love with SWG! It would draw new (paying) customers, and draw back old ones! Please respond!

Oh well, at least I know the microphone is on this week as some of you have at least gotten a response of some sort. Guess I'll just keep using my Eyes of Mesra to determine if the creatures I create will pass the Class Check before I putthem on the vendor....

We are approaching the one month anniversary of publish 7 and we Bounty Hunters still have no idea what you higher ups plan to do with the Jedi missions and Bounty Hunter missions in general.

You always seem to avoid our issues like the plague. We are making no progress. We have no content. 2/3 of our master specials are pointless; and sprayshot isn’t that impressive.

So I ask you TH or any other developers- when can we get some answers? When can we see a red name post in the BH forums?

I just want to know when the Dev's are going to announce to the community what they have done. You think BE clothes are expensive now? Try getting BE items with 4 sockets now. You think it sucks to use SEA's now with how broken they are. Try getting multiple enhancementsin clothing items with 1 socket.

Oh wait.. they just change it.. they expect the player base to find out on their own.

TH,

I have a question. Due to things I am not allowed to discuss at the moment I can't ask it. I can say however

that when I get my thoughts balanced it should clear things up so I can ask it. I am not sure when I will get my

thoughts balanced but it should be soon. Sorry I can't disclose more and ask my question now. Hang in there though

my questions get better each publish. If you could get together with some of your friends and come up with a list of answers I

might be able to ask a few more questions.

LMAO! They should offer you a job!

The Socket "fix" is absurd. If it's going to stay...please announce somewhere, somehow, to the SWG community what is going on. Frankly, I can barely be bothered to play this game anymore, let alone explain the laughable decisions that are being made by the Dev team. Seriously, are we expected to do EVERYTHING? Thanks god for fan sites or this game would've died months ago from simple lack of information. Figuring things out is one thing, but having an EMPTY VOID where basic information and updates on changes should be available is totally unacceptable. I'm talking about REAL information, not the tidbits that get thrown into the launchpad window.

This is just too much danmWORK for a game, too much danm STRESS for a game, and too much UNEXCUSABLE NONSENSE. I'm just amazed really. I think back on other MMO experiences and can find no comparison. The state of this game is like a brand new car right off the showroom floor. But EVERY ITTY BITTY TEENY TINY piece has somethingwrong with it. There areSO many things wrong with this game.If you ever stopped to really think about it you would be overwhelmed. The communityof die hard fanboisisTHE only thing keeping this game together. Yes I'm a fanboi and am becoming ashamed to admit it. This game is a stinker. The only thing to do is make money. Whether you hunt or craft or entertain, it's all about making money. The economies are ravaged with inflation. It's pathetic. I'm gonnapull up my stuff and take a break. Maybe giving it some time will make me wanna play again....I unfortunately doubt it.

I can't believe I waste my time, upset my wife, ignore my kid, spend my money, gain unwanted pounds, not do chores, stay up late, talk to people I don't really know, embrace a false sense of accomplishment, alienate myself from theoutside world, just to play this heaping pile of souped upSciFi Monopoly, that vaguely resembles StarWars but has absolutelyno rhyme or reason in regards to being a fun and fullfilling gaming experience. This game can't even BEGIN to be fixed. Heck, the devs keep putting out a BRAND NEW game every month or so. Forget it. Stick a fork in me. I'm done. No more SOE. You've crossed the line. I can't count on you to make this the game everyone wants it to be. You don't care enough, you don't listen enough, you don't respond enough, and you don't accomplish enough. And this for the HIGHEST priced MMO out there. Keep squandering this games potential, you seem to enjoydoing it immensely.Keep"fixing" the things noone cares about or weren't considered broke to begin with. Keep ignoring the MASSIVE bugs in professions or just the plain idiotic boringness of others. Face it...close it down and take 6 months to make the game that you're turning SWG into. It'll be alot quicker than drawing it out like you are doing. You may even have a playerbase left by then.
