Thread: Vehicle Issues...
My brother wrote up a bug report on this, but I'll post it here just to have it on a thread;
My brother and I were headed to a POI on Corellia to meet up and kick a little butt. We both left from the same location, but I was about 1 kilometer behind him as I was messing around with something else. As a CH, he tends to stop when he sees baby critters so that he can tame them for the XP, and he did so this time and told me that his vehicle had gone *POOF*.
Meanwhile, I come across his vehicle sitting idle along the path he had traveled about 5 or 600 meters from where he was at. It seems the vehicle didn't autostore or disappear but instead rubberbanded backwards. He ran to the location and grabbed his vehicle.
We were mulling this over, and it seems to us that the server is computing one location for the vehicle and another location for the character, causing the vehicle to rubberband away from the character who, since he is too far from the vehicle to be riding it, is now forced to run. We didn't try to duplicate it, but it shouldn't be that hard to do.
Ok, here arethree autostores for you that happened to me today.
1.) I was traveling from Kor Vella to Tyrenna and the vehicle autostored right outside the city. I had entered the city limits, but was not actually IN the city yet.
2.) I left the area south of the Lake Retreat where the Imperial Dark Troopers spawn and went to the Lake Retreat from there. My vehicle disppeared withing city limits, but not inside the city. I was actually just off of land and still in water when it disappeared.
Those are the two that I remember the clearest. Antoher is this:
I left Tyrenna and went to Vrenni Island. Then I got a mission to go to the Imperial Stronghold that is given by the Excited Journalist and I lost my vehicle making a bee-line to the destination. I was about 2.3k off shore of Coronet (I was in the middle of the ocean/lake).
Hope these help you out.
I bugged this already, but I believe I found a server boundry that just about auto stores your vehicle every time you cross it... I was riding between Bestine and Mos Eisley's the first time and my bike auto stored. I then just burst ran to the Shadow Mall where I was dropping off power, pull out my bike again for the return trip and pretty much at the same place the bike stored again. So I pulled out a camp and played with the server boundry quite a few times... If I wasn't going full speed the bike didn't store but if I was going full speed it would. I was also experiencing lag the whole time... Just an hour earlier I was on Lok and feeling no lag and I rode the bike for hours with no problem!
So my guess is that a certian level of lag combined with a server boundry is what's causing the auto-store...
Decay rate seems way off a reasonable rate. In just a couple hours of partial use, most the time it was sitting parked and idle off to the side, my speeder dropped from 2200 hps to 1700 hps. I'd say about 3 hours of gameplay and that was with it sitting idle most of the time because I was out baby hunting on Endor.
That seems very excessive, no matter what you Devs want to think. There's a difference between making the game a fun challenge and making it a frustrating chore, and so farSWGhas proven to bethe latter most of the time.
Every time I generate my vehicle it makes a loud "KABOOM!!" explosion noise and has 0 hit points and says it's (disabled)...![]()
Seriously though, I have had my speeder disappear from under me several times while riding out into the wilderness and every time it's very frustrating since I don't have enough skill points to be a scout and, therefor, make a camp and re-generate my vehicle (which means I have travel the old way: on foot, bleh!). I have noticed that this seem to happen at some point after I've tried to store my vehicle and it does not store. It seems as if the store command goes into limbo then at some random point after that it is executed, kinda like a delayed store effect.
-Bel (not a Scout...)
I have several issues with vehicles:
1) autostoring in the middle of nowhere. At first it seemed that it only did this when I was attacked by huge mobs of reds. Once the game learned that I could FD it stopped autostoring right after 10 red mobs spawned on top of me. Now it seems to be linked to how far away I am from being able to generate it again. The game loves dropping me 5 clicks from being able to call a mount or vehicle. I almost never get the autostore while riding when I'm near a city or a house. Since I don't have any scout skills it kind of really hoses me.
2) Sudden unexpectedly exploding bikes. A friend and I have now both lost a bike to them suddenly exploding for no reason. His was at 90% when his suddenly blew up and mine was around 85%. No work around possible just a dead bike. Mine died 6 clicks from the smugglers outpost on Endor. great place for it to explode if the game wanted to kill me as it did.
3) Warping while dismounting. I enjoy getting off my bike and getting flung forward, backwards, or sideways. Funniest warping was getting flung into a building without having to run around the wall. This has hosed me a couple of times as I've been flung into the middle of a camp. Good thing the game only gives me really gimp missions and it hasn't killed me yet.
4) Warping while riding. Sometimes the scenery is so pretty the game wants me to see it2 or3 times in a row. I've had problems where I hit what I guess is a server boundary and the game will fling me back up to 100 meters. Its done this up to 3 times in a row.
5) Radial Menu options. I have gotten into the habit of using radial menus and its hard to break. I quite often never get the option to mount, generate the vehicle, or store. It takes using the /mount command moving and then trying again. Not sure why but simply waiting and trying again has not worked within the limits of my patience as it will for other radial menus.
6) Following while mounted on a vehicle. While this is likely an issue that is rooted in something else it is an issue with vehicles while its not an issue with mounts or on foot. When following all the creatures that spawn asthe leaderpasses the mobs spawn pointhave time to prepare and attack him. If they are shootie mobs thenthe following charusually gets the snot shot out of him. As the mobs tend not to spawn until after the leader passes then the leader and follower tend not to have time to adjust. There are also some mobs on Endor that run as fast as a speeder bike so will then end up following and attacking the follower for a long time unless you're in a spot to stop and kill it. This isn't always an option as you'll end up passing lots of other agro mobs that don't spawn until after you pass them.
7) Attacking mission locations. I've had problems where the mob spawn at a mission base will spawn and then the random mobs around the mission will spawn later. This is fun when you dismount and attack and then those 30 agro deep red mobs that randomly spawned around the mission base spawn while you're standing in the middle of them and you're 30 or 40 meters from your bike. Its great fun when its Krayt dragonets or juveniles as they can 1 shot kill people.
I have 2 accounts and I played them both on 1 PC. One account is using a swooper bike and following the other account (using landspeeder). We were travelling from Doaba Guerfel to Coronet.
At one point, the swooperstop followingthe landspeeder. On the swooper account, it's showing the landspeeder being stuck between 2 rock pillars. When I switch to the landspeeder account,it was at least 20m away from where it was 'supposedly stuck'.
If I dismount from the landspeeder, it would fly away to therock pillars. I was able to fly thru the rock pillars with no problem using the landspeeder but the swooper keep seeing the landspeeder being stuck there.
I was able to bypass this problem by flying the landspeeder around the2 rock pillars instead of thru them.
I'm thinking that this is probably the crux of the problem. People crossing zones/server and their vehicle is stucksomewhere virtually (because of obstacles etc) but not visually. So when they cross another zone/server, a validation is done and since they're not really riding anything; they're automatically dismounted. Hence the autostore problem.
Btw, this problem is fixed on 12/20 for a few hours. Even the harvester animation is working. When I log again later that day, the bugs came back.
Ok blair heres a few things i noticed.....
1.) Day of the publish, once vehicle was in datapad you could generate that vehicle and poof there it was next to you, then you could go back in datapad and generate another one, i noticed when trying to store the second one i couldn't. Also I couldn't ride the second , so pretty much it just stayed there all day.
2.) Since Day of Publish, every once in awhile i would be riding and stop anywhere (whether it be in a city or out in the woods) and once i dismounted my speederbike it zoomed off into the sunset by itself. Re Calling it was ok after that.
3.) In a Player City Near my Declared Residence. I would ride up to my house, park on the porch and get off the bike, then go into house meddle around for awhile then come back outside and get on my bike, at that point everyone could see my bike but no one could see me on it. Re logging solved this issue.
4.) During the vehicle duping problem. At one point when i took out my speederbike it said it was disabled when in fact it had no damage cause t was new.
Battle damage...vehicles already suffer from excessive decay, overcosted repair, the inability to do combat while mounted, and the (obviously and appropriately) inability to assist in combat. Vehicles should not be attackable.
Case in point: While doing a mission that I should have been able to do WITHOUT a pet (you know, before the game was broken with the update), my faction pet got killed and I was incapped. The remaining mission NPC ran over 60 meters to go attack my speeder bike...fortunately, I woke up before he could destroy it (it was down to 225 HAM and cost almost 8k to repair...significantly more than the entire mission yielded).
There is no reason whatsoever that vehicles should be attackable (unlessthe player is actually mounted on it...then it becomes a strategic attack.)
Now that is just plain mean. There's no reason whatsoever to attack someone's bike or speeder. Just like in real life, it should be against the rules. You don't mess with another man's car, you just don't do it...
We should keep an eye out for those punks and when they attack the speeder or bike, they become overt for a few minutes....we need to jump them for it. They might be rough customers but 3 or 4 of us working together should be able to take them. It will get the word out to knock that crap off, at least, if they don't know who's watching and how strong they are.
