Thread: In-Concept Open Discussion (Week Ending 3-15-04)
-----------
Hold-up Signs - These would be chat bubbles that just stay up as long as the character wishes. This would let merchants advertise visually at their favorite locations without spamming spatial. Sure it would make clutter, but we've already got that with advertisers anyway.
-----------
Backpack Shop - blatently stolen from FFXI, players with the right skill could sit down and open shop right there. They could set a price on anything they are carrying. Other players could see the merchant's shop indicator and click it to see what they've set prices on.
-----------
if-then-else, while, for, and user variables capability for macros (dunno, this may open doors for complete bots)

I like the pod racing idea. It is perfact for a good MMORPG feal. after all a MMORPG is about a divers playing system. And a special racing garage where the racers can repair there own racers or engineers can with tools. Hay we found a new thing to spend creds on.
You dont want guns Bouncing? Then why are you playing a Star Wars game? No offense, but thats what Star Wars is about. The only melee you saw in the movies are the jedi, not some clown toting a crowbar. That tech may work if one may be asleep or smacked up on muon, but not when your opponent is holding a ballistic type weapon. Melee in this game is most likely the result of profession filler. Not that i think melee is a bad thing. I was master sword my first profession, which i kept for 3 months cuz i liked it, then i got sucked into the snipe..i mean jedi hunt. Imho i think the devs have their priorities backwards when it comes to battlefield dominance. As i have stated in other posts, I equate guns to sci-fi and swords to fantasy. This "best of both worlds" business is just causing a rift in players over which style they prefer, and flames always result when one player expresses their opinion to nerf anothers chosen profession. About the riflemen moving and shooting, a rl sniper will be a couple hundred yards from its target andsaid target would be hard pressed to initiate close quarter combat, even if he knew where to run to, but with a range of 64 meters i could hit you with a whiffle ball so ranged combat players have little choice in that matter. Especially when a melee has better defenses, faster attack speed, and now bonuses against ranged opponents. I agree with you on the wook armor, drop wook ham on par with the other races and suit up. Ive been rolling around the fight club idea for a couple months myself. I came here from Shadowbane/Scorn-server where we had guild 1v1 and group duels in a non duel system game. So fighting wasnt controlled by anyone and it worked out. Under SWG system i havent figured out a sure fire way to handle this. Closing thoughts... I can't see how anyone could attempt to balance a game that is purposfully made unbalanced for the sake of individualism and uniqueness of characters. It just ends up being a viscous cycle of nerf/love, nerf/love until the next flavor of game comes out. My only complaints about this game are thus...
* I'm riding my swoop and all the sudden im walking.....5k meters from ANYTHING!
* When i do happen to arrive at my destination , vehicle in tow, when i dismount i somehow end up 100meters from mybike, usually in agro range of an angry mob.
* Doc or not if i die in a cave my buffs are toast, with nothing short of leaving the cave, dropping a camp, and 20 minutes later getting back to fighting.
* Pike=Crimson Guard? LOL! Obviously not in this game. Unless those are Dantari under those red cloaks. Which would explain the complete silence.....and the gamey smell.
Ysalamiri. Wow.
These beautiful creatures can shut a Jedi off from the Force. Think of the implications during a PvP match or a Jedi specific dungeon.
Again: Wow.

"Ysalamiri. Wow."
Yes I agree...now that would be such a twist!
