our PA like a LOT of others feel that SOE has don it to us again.
we spent months growing and planing for Player Cities
only to have the rug pulled out from under us.
you people at SOE act like the goverment in the way you keep secerets from your Paying customers.
------------------------------------------
I have only 2 questions
1)when will the cap be lifted (NO MORE SECERETS)
2)when the cap is lifted is the rumor true that all new cities will be limited to out post size ?
-------------------------------------------
Thankyou

I don't understand why so many players are upset about this unexpected cap. It will be increased, and you will have a chance to have your own city. Those who made cities before you will havemore bugs/glitches to face than you will when the cap is increased. Also, remember that the developers can always add more surface area to planetary maps so that player cities will be spaced out and not clumped together.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

I find your lack of education and knowledge of the facts to negate your statement.

Faith has nothing to do with anything. You don't pay your landlord 6 months in advanced based on some kind of faith that he is going paint your kitchen a shiny new yellow. You contract your landlord based on terms, and if he does not live up to those terms, you have a choice. Either you live with the ugly green kitchen, or you leave and find a new house to live in.

Adding more surface area to the existing planets is not an option at this point in the development of the game. Do you REALLY think that all the disgruntled players who have planned for the player city patch is going to want to wait around for a year hoping for some pie in the sky addition of more surface area?

Doubt it.

The only thing that is disturbing about the entire Player City patch, is that we were promised a feature and SOE failed to deliver.

Adding surface area to the planetary map is always an option for the developers. I do not believe they would choose that option within the next 6 months, because there are many issues with content already in the game and there is no overcrowding of cities yet. In answer to your question, no I do not think disgruntled players will want to wait for the dev's to give them more surface area. Most disgruntled players like to rant and rave and throw temper tantrums on dev boards while shouting "Do this/Fix this or else I quit!".

I agree that the unexpected cap is disappointing, but it's nothing to scream about in my humble opinion. Granted, the opinion of someone you disagree withmay notcount for much.

I really think that most of the SWG users are uninformed about alot of things ie, when the player city patch came out that only 10 would be allowed per planet. I ask friends in SWG about it and they tell me thatthey heard from a friend that ...........

I dont really like using this method. I do often look at the forums too but i hardly ever find what i'm looking for.

btw - heh yeah i do actually think that SOE acts like the government by doing things without telling us and making us pay for it anyway.

The issue in discussion is that of the Player City cap... I agree there are other issues that need attention. However, the Player Cities was a feature that was promised to ALL.

There is NO comment on the retail box that Player Cities would be restricted based on:

a cap...

anyone who could log on within 10 minutes of the patch...

reserved for an elite few who represent the miniority of the population.

I don't have a beef with you, Winterchylde. My beef is with SOE and their deadlines to meet a stock holders meeting.

THAT is why this patch was rolled out before it was ready and capable of delivering the promised Player Citeis to all.

Does not have a damm thing to do with their database or urban spread or planetary imbalance. That's whitewash.

It has everything to do with the feature NOT being ready to roll, but saving management'sarses in delivering what they promised and recouping a bonus for their project delivered on time.

They delivered.

Now they are trying to do damage control.

And most of us are not buying it.

on a lighter note, does anyone know the day they are supposed to institute the cap raise? Is this next patch this Thursday morning or next Thursday?

Would be very nice to know the statistics on the planets that have 'lost' player cities. Our guild has been trying to place a city hall on a selected spot for quite a while now in hopes that a city as failed and a slot has opened.

We surely do NOT want to miss the next expansion to add more player cities. It would be nice to know some specific timelines so that we do not miss our next opportunity. Was quite disappointing to lose theability to start our own city after quite a bit of work. Also would hate to lose the area we scouted so long to find.

Is there an area on site that gives some daily statistics on number of player cities on planets?

Here's my question...

...even if you lift the cap, some of us will never get the city experience we want with our guild. Cause the earlier cities will hit the high level cap.

Just a few personal thoughts

City Cap- Due to the fact that there is only so much space on a planet to start with they should be in place. I agree that I do not want to run through the countryside and just go through one city and another not seeing any trees or lairs due to overbuilding. But I think the city cap should start at a city rank of 3. Most PA's and class guilds would benifit being able to create an outpost and then building to a village. The city area is still small the benifits would be realized in support structures for players as well as the smallest city benifits. All around it would be a viable solution for creating a true localized support structure for a player association without detracting from planet area, city slots and would not gain any of the advanced abilities that TRUE city should have if rank 3 or above.

What is a city-The city my character developed in was coronet. It had imperial, rebel and neutral people living within its walls. WE ALL came there to work and play and pvp and whatever. Militia was there to only enforce against those whose factional rating went against them. And in all this chaos we all had a good time. Should a player city be the same way? I would like to see post from someone in each city letting us know what their player city is bassed on. Is it a war stronhold? is it a factional city? is it a open city? I am just interested.

O.k. I have read every single post here and all i see is a bunch of whining. Look Life is not fair for everyone and TRUST ME those who have put down cities ahve had very intese problems. My guild was one of the lucky ones and was able to place a city. We have had problems with squatters, rude people and almost every imaginable problem. The only real sullution to this problem is to MOVE TO A CITY IF YOU WANT TO LIVE IN ONE. Usually all you have to do is talk to people in the city and they will assist you in gaining access to put a house down. I know that many of you don't want to leave your "area", but as it stands right now you don't move you don't get a city. I agree with the cap, but i disagree with the way the information was released. Why not try and work with other PAs and Cities and work to make a great community? Wouldn't this be more fun than spending all you time whining here? I think it would.

So that's how we need to do it. It's pretty plainly stated right here that is how you get fixes made.
