Thread: Please allow us to toggle the xp spam on/off
When I am performing my chat window is filled with the xp spam. It normally looks like this:
You perform a flourish
You recieve 34 entertainment healing experiance.
You recieve 45 entertainment healing experiance.
You recieve 18 entertainment healing experiance.
You recieve 54 dancing experiance.
Joe says "How are you doing tonite?"
You perform a flourish
You recieve 43 entertainment healing experiance.
You recieve 12 entertainment healing experiance.
You recieve 24 entertainment healing experiance.
You recieve 53 dancing experiance.
You perform a flourish
You recieve 56 entertainment healing experiance.
You recieve 23 entertainment healing experiance.
You recieve 19 entertainment healing experiance.
You recieve 52 dancing experiance.
You say "Fine Joe, how went the hunting trip?"
All this makes it so hard to carry on a conversation! Please let me choose to have the xp spam displayed in the chat window. Let the chat window be for CHAT! I have xp bars to show my progress. I really don't want or need to see every xp gain.
This should not be had to do. It does even have to be a check box or anything. A simple "/" command would be fine.
/xpdisplay (this toggles the xp display on or off)
How do the rest of you feel about this?
Here Here! I'll second that!
While you CAN turn off system messages in your spatial chat, this is not a good solution, because that also turns of tip receipt messages, and trade request messages.
/xpmessage on/off is the best way

Easy enough to do.
1. Drag one of the tabs on the chat window up to the right hand top corner.(I use the combat one)
2. Right click on the tab and click Modify. Tick OFF everything but System Messages.
3. On your Spatial tab right click and turn OFF System Messages.
Then in Ctrl-O under Chat turn OFF System messages on the screen.
Then ALL the system messages will appear in the small upper right window.
You can also got to the Chat Color screen under Ctrl-O and enter the word TIP and make it a bright color. Then when it appears in the small window it catches your attention so you can acknoledge it. Alternately you can grab the bottom of that window and DRAG it down for a second so you can quickly see a lot of past messages in case you missed a tip message. Then you can send a Tell to the person acknowledging it.
After trying a few things, what worked best for me was simplyto change the sentences with "healing experience" or"dancing experience" to dark grey, sentences with "tips you" or "bank credits" to bright pink, and just my name to purple. Everything still rolls through spatial just as fast, but the mindglosses over the grey sentencesand just picks up oneverything else. Makes scrolling back tore-read things easy, too.
Mind you,I'm usually in a quiet cantina where conversation is fairly light and easy to keep up with. When I wasin Theed the other day, my spatial was rolling faster than I could even comprehend, so something more drastic would be needed to cope with a place like that, definitely.
A way to toggle it would be good. Turn off the dance xp when dancing, then turn it back on again when working my secondary profession, where I do need to keep track of the xp numbers.
