Thread: New dancer ability...

I think it would be great to have a true choreographer ability in the game.. Today I was in a band performing for a player event. I was the lead dancer, in charge of directing all the dancers. (My god you can get a lot of XP for a PA packet with people all watching/listening) However, while I could direct flourishes, I couldn't start dancers, change everyone's dance, or stop dancers. Musicians can do it - though for them it's mandatory to actually sounding good.. But dancers all work independantly as far as what dance they are doing.

So I would like /changeband to work for music and dance, and /startbanddance and /stopbanddance.

Just wanted to second this. It's awful trying to coordinate dance chages/starts/stops for a troupe.

Being able to trigger the other dancers' visual effects at once would also be really nice.

Oh good one, I missed that.

However for a lot of visual effects I find you don't need everyone to do it. Maybe distract, dazzle, and smoke cloud.. But color lights I tend to like having one person in the middle do it for everyone. Spotlight could be used like that or by everyone too.

Maybe a /bandefect command, that you can do /bandeffect off to not get it.

One thing I want to play around with, especially since I am usually the only guy among girls, is coordinating different flourishes. I found a little trick.. If you /bandflourish off, then /bandflourish, everyone BUT you does it. Then you can /flourish something different. I just need to figure out what moves would be best to mix like this.

I am so glad you mentioned that! I was thinking about it the other day, because when I dance I use the

/changedance command frequently, and I was leading me and a few other girls in a dance...sadly I could not direct them to do this command myself, so it makes it difficult.

And with the visual effects that was mentioned I agree totally on that to. It would be so nice, and it would make us dancers look amazing when we are dancing in groups - or for a gathering.

Anyway, just wanted to say that I agree, now that I've rambled for minutes about nothing new said, hehe

That would be nice. DIdn't they have it in beta? You'd think they could put it back in without doing anything to the exp.

This is a great idea. Let's ask Ravenmist to put it on the list!

As for effects, it also works if you do effects in sequence to extend the effect. If 3 or 4 dancers are close together it looks like the same effect is rippling through them.

Hah, those are some great ideas.. Which brings to question, many people believe the band leader who directs the flourishes and such and is the only one getting xp, is a bug. Now I think that it's meant to be that way but just to be sure, what say you?

Last night I danced at a party. We all wore our exotic leotards in different colors, did the highest level of all of us and /bandflo'd our hearts away. The crowd loved it. Then in our group chat we would coordinate our light effects. It was a lot of fun and we looked great.

I guess that's pretty close to choreography. lol

Thanks for the tip Sinda, I'll try that some time.

The way I understand it, it is as intended. The story I heard is that in Beta it used to be this way, but they changed it to prevent one person from doing the flourishes to give everyone xp while the rest of them just did something else. However, the change now has the opposite problem that it discourages bandflourishes in xp groups. With dancing you can cheat and throw in a flourish during a band flourish to get your xp.. But that doesn't work for music, since your flourish will be queued up.

Perhaps a compromise, something like /acceptbandflourish, which doesn't do anything except give you the xp for a bandflourish you just got, or for the next bandflourish, or next couple, or something.
