Dancing?? That really varies. On average, 4k per night.

It varies... from nothing for a full evening online in a crowded cantina to 5K for 5 minutes I was AFK. It's not so bad that it's not much, the worst thing is it's so unsteady.

How much I make dancing all depends on the venue. If I stop by a busy cantina, I won't expect to make much if there is a large group of entertainers already there. On the other hand, remote spots like Lok or Rori rarely have any dancers and it's not unusual to make 10-20k in a couple hours.

The other venue is the private party. Several PAs on my server have my name and know they can hire me as part of their entertainment troupe. These are fun, and really about the only thing I even break out the flesh wrap for, these days. There are events, giveaways, and contests among the attendees and usually the band that shows up is composed of all Master musicians. I love listening to an all-master band.

For these events, I have been paid anywhere from 1000 to 10k just to show up. I don't expect tips, but usually 2 or 3 of the party goers will be very generous during the evening.

What I make depends on several things. I usually make more money when the cantinas don't have too many entertainers in it. I can dance for hours and make only 500. I can dance for 30 minutes and make 10k. It just all depends on the crowd.

I'm starting to like the being hired for parties thing, as long as I have the time to do it. Ithose darn harvester runs).

When you guys do parties, do you find your style of entertaining change? For example, instead of being a healer, I feel like I am more as a background. I won't speak unless spoken to first because I don't want to disrupt the party. I try and get the other dancers to wear the same style outfit and we dance in /bandflos.

I guess it also depends on what is going on in the party. The party I danced at last night was huge and there was a lot of spacial chat going on. They had people joining their PA, auctions etc. Smaller parties I will chat more. I guess you just have to feel it out.

I think a new career should be party services. A service that will hire dancers, musicians and caterers and you can rent tables and chairs from. lol

I make $12.00/hour before taxes and my 401k. so after taking that out, i get maybe $7.00/hour or something like that.

<insert rimshot here>

I've made anywhere between 0 credits over 3 days and 10,000 credits in 3 hours, it totally depends on who's there and many other factors.

Well the private cantina I dance at pays 200cr an hour, then I usually make a few k tips on top of that. But people go there to RP not to heal. In busy cantinas, I get nothing. In empty cantinas, I get decent tips. I find the best is when I find a small band I can dance with that sounds and looks good.

Also I've found actually entertaining people helps.. Not just dancing. And not just talking to people either.. For example, I recently got the distract ability. Originally I was unenthusiastic about it.. But then I decided to play around with it. Now I usually couple it with an emote along the lines of pointing at the ground and a small explosion erupting... Something like what Mr. Mistofelees does in Cats.

On the subject of private events, I did my first private event yesterday. It was huge. A PA was having a party for imperials. They invited several other PAs and any imperial on the server who wished to attend. The PA hall was absolutely packed. About half of us danced together regularly. However we had never done anything like this together, and were not really prepared. I was given the task of leading the dancers. This meant I would coordinate what dances to do with what the band would play, get all the dancers in formation, and either take care of band flourishes, or assign who would do it. It was between me and one of the musicians to determine what effects would be used for the various songs. Keeping this all taken care of was quite a task, and I had no chance to really even think of interacting with the partygoers. However, I think that is best, as for the type of party it was, the band and dancers are more background entertainment. Other party types (Bachelor[ette] parties, for example) that may not be so much the case. To help keep things organized we pretty much did not allow any outside entertainers. (We made one exception, inviting a master musician I know whojoined our own master musician in Virtuoso while the rest of us took a break) A lot of people were upset about this (And I can partly understand why.. In 2 hours I made 1/3rd of Dance Tech 3. However we weren't there for the xp) but it kept us looking professional and organized. The PA hosting the party was very supportive of us and helping us keep our area clear of partygoers. It was overall a great experience, one I'd gladly do again.

It all depends. Usually I know the other dancers and we've worked together before. We have a few routines we do that are pretty effective, involving smoke, /changedance, costume changes and bandflo's.

But more and more I see dancers I don't know, many of whom don't have sense enough NOT to spam a private party for tips (gods - you weren't already paid to be here?!), and those who think Exotic has more than 2 flourishes (don't want them doing the bandflos or we'll be doing frenetic popular2 flourishes in the middle of our slow, sensual exotic sequence)

I gently make suggestions in these cases, but I am never quiet. If the band's lively enough, I always encourage them in spatial and chat with the partygoers. I figure it's even more important for me to entertain if I got paid ahead of time. I try to be a part of the party.
