(don't judge the poster on the number of posts- I've been reading these things for a month) You guys are sort of missing a very big important point. Or, at least you understand it yet no one is bringing it up, and this applies to the medical professions as well.

This is a MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) game. Or at least tha's what I see many people posting. ....this is actually an MMO RPG. A lot of people are forgetting that part. If they are not Roleplay savvy and get irritable at the roleplay thing then honestly they should not be playing. I mean if I don't like wrestling then why pay for the ticket to go sit front row? If Ilike football yet don't like full contact sports where I might get squashed then why the heck am I trying out forthe football team? The RPG is implied by the oh so forgotten MMORPG on the box. The game was not made for Diablo people (as much as I like Diablo) or CS people or what-have-you. It was made for the rabid fans of Star wars who want to exist in the world and don't mind that there is no 'Boss' to beat and where the only goal is to exist even after reaching the master level in all that they can. If they don't like that then there are many star wars games that cater to their needs.

Now, the RPG thing and the whole economic structure set up by the developers is rather interesting. See, Role play is to create a world that doesn't exist and exist in it as we all know. It's a lot like acting if you think about it and for many of us we have great imaginations and are not limited on a computer like we would be in public. So it's fun and less pressure. (Games are meant to relieve pressure, not cause it, yet these boards seem to provoke dissention. Go figure.) So. It's creating a world. Now, what's the closest thing we can think of to a world? ::Smacks her forehead:: Oh yeah, we are sitting in one.

In the Real World a person has the RIGHT to be healed. Yup. ....but the healer has the RIGHT to payment. No one gets away with not paying their doctor for their doctor's services. And I can't think of one Opera with the biggest stars in it that allows you to go see it for free. (The exception are grade and highschool performances and even those are not a sure fire free show) Heck, we pay 8 bucks to go see a movie.

So in the real world (Which a Roleplaying environment is supposed to simulate) yes you have a Right to healing but you are obligated to pay the healer because they have the Right to payment for their services.

It is a common misconception that entertainers are not in that much need of cash. Doctors are worse off, I understand the whole deal of having to make stims and I am so freaking grateful to those doctors who come to heal me while I am dancing. I also understand that it costs a lot for armor and weapons and all this stuff. ....But I also hear a lot of older players complaining about having too much money and nothing to do with it. Hmmm... lemme see....

Entertainers (And doctors, remember, I understand that whole deal. And I undersatnd the AFK problem) who are worth anything are at their computer 90% of the time (barring necessary food, children, restroom breaks, answering the phone or other crises). They spend forever there just healing the ungrateful (and the grateful because not everyone is at fault. Nope.) And sure maybe clothes are not a 'money sink' but they are necessary. Can you imagine a nearly master dancer still dancing in the same thing they got at the begining of play? They'd be ridiculed by... oh... everyone. Combat and non-combat alike. We also have an inability to do big missions.... and while sometimes you can find a person to teach you a skill (And I have a brawler- it's a pain to find some player to teach you, I understand that too) sometimes you can not. It's 5000 to get to Novice Dancer and it took me forever just to get that much by doing missions. So- we all know that everyone needs money. We all know that some people can't afford to tip a bazillion credits when they just start. But is it too much to ask for a hundred? (I thank people no matter how much. It all adds up eventually.) Homes, harvesters and all that are hard to maintain when you have no cash and are not tipped for 24 hours.

The biggest difference is that combat people get EXP and credits at the same time when playing their class. Doctors and Entertainers do not. They can either get EXP....... or they can get cash.

We all have problems, every profession. But the thing is that entertainers are getting a bad wrap- yes by the constant AFKers and Tip spammers. I wouldn't tip them, master or not. Yes. We are paying for a service but..... if we went to see a play and Juliet is sitting there on the balcony ignoring the people and eating a gyro with a Latte in her lap.... ... do we give her raving reviews? ...bloody hell no. We tip a waitress 15 percent if they are good at their job- if they are attentive to us, respond to us when we are talking to them, get our food in time... And we get up and leave if they seat us and dissapear for 30 minutes. No?

Interaction is a must- but sometimes an entertainer has a hard time because they try to interact and are ignored- so it's hard to talk to a wall without looking silly... or being embarassed. (And sometimes the people you interact with are busy. No bigge) But at least the greating is nice. Part of the service is interaction by way of smiles etc. It's not by way of lap dances and that should not be expected. Flirting should not be expected. But they are not bad if that's part of the persona a person is playing.

Haven't we beaten this dead horse into a bag of leather and ooze? It's getting gross. New players would not have a problem if they read the manual... it's all in there. ::Tips her hat.::
