Between:

the crashing with no resolution except being told to make sure I had the most recent drivers and even worse any acknowledgement that Hundreds of people were having the same problem

the nerfs that have driven most of my friends and the other Roleplayers away

the incredibly cavalier way SOE treats the players (Customers I think they're called in other businesses)

the ridiculous trashing of the Dancer Profession with flourishes that would embarrass an 8 yr old playing with an animation program

the obvious COMPLETE lack of planning by announcing less than 2 months after startup that the database was full so everyone's houses were being nerfed in item counts

And so many other things that I don't even care enough to list, I've given up.

Just about everyone I knew in the game has left. My OWN husband gave up SWG and went back to UO (Ultima Online) pointing out that after his SWG experience he REALLY appreciated how WELL UO operated and was supported.

I spent 4 hours last night trying to GIVE away a furnished large house just outside of Keren plus a full dancer wardrobe and found that NO ONE wanted it, not even other dancers. Which I guess shows you how far the game has sunk.

Tired of the doods and the 14 yrs olds. Tired of the abuse in the Dancer field. Tired of the trolls in here who find some way to twist and distort words that weren't even written for them in order to trash and abuse you as an individual becuase you pushed some button in their pitiful psyches and I GUESS because they have no other outlet for their sicko little minds.

Won't be checking in here anymore so I wish the best to all of the dancers that are going to stick it out. Guess you just have more patience than I do.

To any friends I am leaving behind. Sorry but i DO have a life out here and SWG is just not a part of it anymore.

If any dancer DOES want a furnished, large Naboo house just NW of the Keren Cantina, send me a PM in here. I wont be back to the Dancer forum.

Bye all. I wish you well and I enjoyed the conversations with SOME of you and the play time. As far as the trolls go... glad YOU'RE gonna have to put up with them now and not me.

Doesn't count unless you're the first to post it to their "I'm trying to make a point by leaving this game" post. It's kind of like calling shotgun.

Hmm I was just thinking about how the upcoming changes sounded really cool for entertainers... I guess you feel that two months was more than enough time to get the kinks worked out of the game... Personally I think you should wait for the six month mark before screaming about them sucking. UO as an example is still hurting even after six years.

Just about everyone I knew in the game has left. My OWN husband gave up SWG and went back to UO (Ultima Online) pointing out that after his SWG experience he REALLY appreciated how WELL UO operated and was supported.

I don' t know how long your husband played UO, but I was in for the first 2 years of its existence, and trust me - UO made every game since then look like a polished piece of Tiffany crystal. It took them years to work out the kinks.

It took AO one year, and it was far, far buggier than SWG.

As tempted as I've been now and then to chuck this game to focus on beta testing for another company, I can't help but think it's already farther along than many of the comparisons. What will it look like in 6 months or a year?

Flawed, your sane, creative voice will be missed here. I'm sorry for your frustration but I completely empathize (you sound like me when I left EQ). Please, I hope you swing around in a few months to see what progress has been made. See if the potential has been realized and think about returning?

All the best -

Dear Flawed Diamond-

UO was a great game, however, if you played UO 2 months after it's release, you'd find that SWG is much farther along that UO was at that timeframe. I'd give it a bit more time.

UO right after release: Newbies can't leave town without being PKed. Not uncommon to see naked people standing at the bank "PLEASE HLP!! I just got PK'ed and lost all my stuff!!"

Don't have noto confirm dealie on? Well just you go ahead and accidentally double click friend, get flagged, lose noto.. let this happen a few more times, you are Dark Lord/Lady feeding that npc healer bread every 5 minutes todrop thegrey flagthat now has every Great Lord on the server hunting your ass.

Monsters being gated into rooms where 70s skill characters are hunting. House looters. Dupers. Guild stone implementation- freeze lag every 20 minutes for 15 minutes at a time. pet dragons rendered ineffectual after crossing server boundary (claw attack), SERVER BOUNDARIES themselves used to exploit.. MANY MANY things...

(all that aside, UO was a fantastic game, hehe.)

Come now.. SOE said they are going to take those ugly hand animated animations away and replace them with groovy motion captured ones, and give us some spiffy outfits. It just takes time... when a game is this new (regardless of how long it was in beta), you have to expect changes.. sometimes ones we don't like.

I normally don't post, but I enjoy your posting, and I hope you reconsider. SWG has a lot of potential.

Sincerely,

We never new each other.

But in beta everytime i went to kerran cantina. There was flawed diamond to great you with a smile and some chit-chat. It was a great place to come to relax, after a day hunting.

In live, on ecilpse i was happy to see her again dancing away in kerran cantina, greatly people in the same friendly manner, it had a homely feeling. I enjoyed beta more for some reason, and memories of those days, give me hope swg will be better.

Anyway sad to see you go, and have moved back to kerran to find the cantina almost empty. Kerran needs you flawed.... isn't the same without you.

Anyway takecare and hope you enjoy where ever you go next

You know, I have to agree with everyone.. So far I've played the following MMOG within months of release..

  • Club Caribe (If anyone's actually heard of it, I'll be amazed)

  • Ultima Online

  • Everquest

  • Starwars Galaxies

I've also played EQA during the beta. All of those I quit within a couple months. SWG so far has been the only one to keep me interested. (I've since been back to EQ and played for over a year) I can imagine the code is quite large and unweildy to work with, and for every change we see on the surface, there are so many "under the hood" we don't notice. Things will get better.

Wow, reading about UO brings back memories. Speaking of server boundries.. Why can't anybody get this right? UO when I played had tons of warping problems across server boundries (Don't know if they fixed it), SWG has brief freeze-ups across them... Only game that they weren't a problem I can think of is EQA.. The first time I came across a server boundry in EQA, I walked back and forth across it about 10 times, amazed that the only way I even knew it was a boundry was that the coordinates jumped from positive to negative. Again though I don't know if that's changed with the load of a live server.
