I looked in the FAQ's and didn't see anything about this, but occasionly I quit getting entertainer healing xp and I need to fix it by logging out/logging in. This has happened to multiple people in my group. Does anyone know what causes this or how to avoid it from starting?

I would assume the ent. healing xp stopped because people weren't watching/listening that had BF or mind wounds.
I had a lot of Novice Entertainers freaking out earlier today because they thought the xp was constant like the dance and music xp.

This is one of those pesky bugs that's been around for months, it's just harder to detect, because you're not sure if it's that no one is watching or it's the bug. It's a lot more readily noticable with combat and weaponsXP, since you know when a MOB gets taken out.
The bug is that the GUI doesn't update the XP gains - it's just not displaying. The systemstill knows you'regetting the XP, but the GUI gets stuck and doesn't display the gainsfor you until you relog to clear it. I seem to have seen several patch notes over the last couple of months saying that it's been fixed, but it doesn't seem to be 100% fixed yet.
Now I wonder if the healing XP 'spiking' bug is still around...

The xp spike bug is still around. From my experience, if someone injured comes and watches you specifically, any latent xp from the spike bug will show up.
I'm not sure if it's related to the display bug or not. The spike is unique to dancers. Even musicians don't get it.

I've been seeing this a lot lately, too. My healing xp will stop showing up when I am in a large group. I can get it to start showing back up by getting someone to watch me. For example, last night I had not seen any for about 20 minutes. Then I asked a friend to watch me. As soon as my friend started watching me specifically, all of the back experience showed up (over 7,000 healing xp).
My concern is that will I still get that experience if I stop dancing?
As I messed with it for a few hours last night trying to narrow it down, I think it is caused by someone doing a /stopwatch with less than 2 minutes of watching time (when they get the warning about needing to watch for two minutes to get a buff).

It's older than the 2 minute thing...
But you may be onto something with the /stopwatch........
That would explain why dancers see it and not musicians....
Hmmmm.....
See, /stopwatch and /stoplisten have this annoying habbit.. When someone does it to you, you stop as well. This is very noticible for musicians; the music stops playing. As it is so noticible, a check was put in that makes musicians start listening to themselves again.
The same check doesn't exist for dancers. I've proven this by getting mind wounds, dancing, then having someone /stopwatch on me. I stopped healing myself.
As to if you lose it when you stop dancing, your guess is as good as mine.
I'll have to experiment with this more tonight, but I think you may really be onto something.

I guess I haven't noticed since I capped my ent. healing xp.

This has been a bug since the beginning. I remember seeing it happen as early as last July when I started playing.

The pieces come together.....
I was able to intentionally cause a healing xp spike. It seems to get healing you must have at least one person watching you. Normally you fill that at least one person role. Trouble comes when someone who was watching you does /stopwatch. You stop watching yourself. If nobody is watching you, the healing xp builds up. If you stop dancing before someone starts watching, you lose it.

Oh, now I understand when I'd randomly get 100+ of ent. healing xp.
Yay for research!

Can you be that person who starts watching yourself to reactivate the xp?

Nope, tried that.
Didn't check if stopping and starting again worked. To my recollection it didn't but that was a year ago so I could be misremembering, or it could have changed.
