I was just thinking about ways to include the ability for all players to dance while still taking nothing away from the Dance profession...and I think I've come up with a reasonable way to do it without copying current dances over to non-Entertainers. Of course, that means the Devs would have to put development time into new dances, but hey, what else would they be there for.
I propose that each species be given one or two "species-specific" dances, a dance that everyone in the species can do, whether or not they are an Entertainer. Wookiees might get a tribal dance, Ithorians a plant-god dance, etc.
Of course, this would inevitably lead to Master Dancers saying, "Hey, I'm a Master Dancer, why can't I do ALL the dances in the game." I know it'd happen--Musicians do it already with Mandovial and Ceremonial. So, this is where the second part of my proposal comes in--some TRUE post-Master content.
There could be a variety of NPC missions from members of the various species which would eventually lead to the Master Dancer learning that species' dance. So, a Master Dancer who had done all the dance quests would be able to dance every dance in the game (as he or she should be able to) and it would add to the entire experience, because the dancer would have to "train" with various NPC's in order to learn their dances.
So that's about all the meat to my proposal for post dance content. Here's a little followup:
The missions, in order to be a little better than our current Theater missions, could still use the same basic idea, but the new dance could be learned in increments--one flourish at a time. So, for thebase dance and /flos 1-8, you would have to visit a new NPC who could help train you in the intricacies of that particular step--making it a 9-part mission for each species' dance.
Yeah, I know that'd take awhile, but let's face it, there's not a lot of post-Master content in our professions, we need some things to keep us occupied when we're not trying to compete with buffbots for business and not being hired out for gigs.
So there're my ideas. Feel free, as usual, to use lose or abuse them as you see fit!
Edited because I'm an idiot who can't spell....

I love it! I'd be really looking forward to what the Mon Cal dance would be like (I'm imagining something like the swim-dance from the 60s) Zabs could have something like a war-dance...the possibilities are limitless. And I love that fact that we'd be able to learn them

Sounds like a good idea, I really must get around to doing a dancer quest anyway

I like this idea a lot. Have a slow and a fast dance for each species, so that everyone can dance at parties. And, the dancer quests so master dancers can eventually learn all the dances is great.
Dunno if it'll ever happen, but I think it's an awesome idea.

Only one potential issue I see... if my racial dance is broken, similar to Formal, Lyrical, Theatrical... I'd be annoyed to say the least... especially if I was a non-dancer. Wait...more people annoyed about broken dances... That has a potential upside to it. *ponders*
Other idea, was incorporate racial background info into the quests similar to what they did with Wookiee Life Day quests, but this addition, could make it take alot longer. Would anyone prefer a more in depth quest, or something more along the lines of current Theatre quests?

The way I had in mind was sort of a mixture of the Life Day quests with the Theater quests--members of the species would drill you in the new dance, teaching you not only its moves, but its cultural significance as well. The depth of each culture's significance in the dance would vary greatly, since there are very religious/traditionalist species (wooks) and very non-religious species (humans).
Special dances could be a good way to introduce paired dancing too, if it's possible for game mechanics--human dance could be smilar to Tango and Swing for example.... ![]()

I *love* that idea! It sounds fun, interesting, challenging, immersive, interactively social, and... entertaining!
