Hi Guys,

I'm hoping someone who knows a lot more than I do about coding macro's etc can help me.

I'm helping out at an RP "club", and trying to write dance routines to perform. While I can write the dance macro just fine, what I'd like to be able to do if possible is target people who tip me (I'd like to target the person who's given the most cumulative tips but I think that's wishing for the moon) so that I can direct socials and emotes at them, which will mostly be coded as part of the routine.

Does anyone know how to do this? both how to include your current target in an emote and how (if it's possible) to auto target?

if that's impossible, does anyone know if it's possible to isolate information like tips to a chat window, so I can do it rapidly be hand while performing?

Many Thanks

Isolde

No autotarget and so doesn't work.

But you can include the Targets name in a /say or /emote. %TT gets replaced with the full name and %NT with the first name of the target.
So targeting you and /emote waves to %NT, will result in a "Coreena Telios waves to Isolde", or a "/say Hi %TT" will be "Hi Isolde Averay" etc.

About how to see it better. Press Ctrl-O, go to "Chat Colors". Type into the field "tips you" (without the " ), select a nice color (i chose red) and then press "Sentence Colorization".
Now whenever a sentence like "John Doe tips you 50 credits" appears it will be printed in red.

You then target John Doe and use your thank macro from above.

I made myself a small alias that helps me with that, since its sometimes ahrd to find the guy right away

I named my macro "thxmacro" (yeah, i got really creative there ). Its nothing more in it than:
/smile;
/say Thanks honey;

I advice you to use /say, it does work without it, but if you're in another channel but spartial, your macro will write there.

Ok that still doesn't help me target someone, now does it?

Type the following:
/alias thx /macro thxmacro; /target

You only have to do it once, it will be safed automatically. Now when you do a
/thx John
it targets John, and executes the macro.
Also works if you manually have targeted someone, just use
/thx
and it will use the macro on your current target

Have fun, hope i could help

Many thanks. That answeres the most pressing of my problems

Now to see if I can't charm some halfway decent tips out the patrons...... On the one hand RPer's tip well, on the other, RP'ers are always broke....

In terms of chat colors I colorize "tips you" "heals you" "enhance" "bank" "trade" "experience" and my name. This way I never miss a tip, bank tip, a heal, a buff, a request to trade, when the xp is rolling in, or if someone is calling my name.

I always made my "dancer experience" and "entertainer experience" lines a shaded grey, so I could ignore them. Too much spam!

I removed system messages from my spatial tab so that I would only see the experience and flourish messages flash across my screen rather than cluttering up my spatial. When I'm in "chat chat" mode, I separate each chat type into its own box, and I'll have 5 boxes up on my screen at a time.

Oh, yes, it's definitely not in my Spatial Chat. But even as an on-screen system message, I like to keep that somewhat dim. Otherwise it distracts me. (You know, shiny, bright things....)

Chat coloring saved my life. I had to take system messages out of my spatial because the buff spam drove me mad... but as a result I kept missing /tips. So I colored it BRIGHT PINK and now I NEVER miss it. I also made a separate chat tab for system messages, which helps.

Yeah, I'd lose my mind if I didn't use chat coloring and a separate tab for system messages. The list of colorized words and phrases NJ gave is the same one I use. Tips you, heals you, etc., and my names or nicknames helps soooo much being in bright red. Stands out.

First MMORPG I played was DAOC.
There you have one window, thats seperated into two halfes. Lower half is chat, upper half is combat/system messages.
When i came to SWG one of the first things I did was simulate that behaviour by making the chatwindow a bit smaller and adding a combat/System message window above it.

Never understood how people can even talk when all the system mesasge spam goes into the spartial tab...
