The GCW Corr linked to this thread in the Corr/Glowie forum. The OP didn't include Ent/Social as one of the playstyles at first, but then went back and added us. Anyway, he parties with Dathora, so he must be ok.

Go check it out if you have a sec.

Oh, and a quotein the thread from the GCW Corr:

It's a challenge to quantify a social playstyle, and most gaming dynamics are constructed of quantifiable bits of information. Damage done. Quality statistics. Etc... How do you quantify entertaining people?

Makes it hard to build out a robust code based solution. The solution for the social playstyle seems to be the person socializing. How can you code for that though? I'm pretty sure the DEVs are looking at it, because socializing is one of the pillars of any MMO, but there is no easy solution.

Very nice thread. Rather surprised it hasn't gone down in fire and brimstone yet...

Yeah, seems to be an okay chap, and a very nice and accurate quote too. I just don'tbuy the part I highlighted, but then the past 1.5 years have turned me into a cynic. While a week ago I've very much been looking forward to SOETyrant's announcement about thoe "positive" changes to the entertainer professions, by now I'm actually starting to dread it. If it comes at all (which I'm not sure about anymore), it will very probably be a major letdown.

But well, at least there's discussion about playstyles, ours included (and how typical is it that we were only getting added as an afterthought??), even if that discussion will very probably result in the Devs saying "aww, let's scrap it, it's too difficult, and we have more important things to do"

Remember when they promised "new music will be added soon" and all?
Musicians got their hopes up and all, and what do they get? The Jukebox.

I'm just waiting till they implement a NPC that sells holographic dancers that can do 20 dances more than we can, all look really great and are not broken, and we get nothing, while they call it "positive changes to entertainment".
