Thread: I returned after 6 months and what did I see?

Back in late october, I decided to give things a miss. I was a master-dancer/1121 Pistoleer and things were getting tight financially. The money system in-game had been made a LOT more severe. We'd just been given the insult of REALLY low paying dancer jobs. And on top of it, the new dance animations they'd said they were doing in the mo-cap studios still hadn't materialized. Masters were still falling... Blah blah woof woof.

Now... One can hope in publish 9 tomorrow that at least some of this will be taken care of. Cos 6 months later, dancers STILL have place-holder steps from lower end dance styles instead of master moves in the higher up styles like lyrical and exotic. Dancer specific props, (besides this entertainment droid in testing) are pretty much still a dream. Masters have to hold some weapon to exploit not having to fall down to keep choreography with others. And everyone seems to be arguing about buffs and AFK-ers and such from the updates that happened in my absence. (Not that the folks at Sony or LucasArts would stall on the improvements to our class that should have been there on day one by introducing stuff that would keep us distracted from the real problem with prolonged internet bickering. Why that would be unheard of wouldn't it?)

I need some help folks. What GOOD things have happened for dancers in the last 6 months?

You don't need help, you are fine. You don't see positive changes, because none happened.

Not much I'm afraid About the only stuff we have gotten is bug fixes to stuff that was also broken during that time. The entertainer droids and resolution to the 30 second buff exploit(which I'm happy we got, but not perfectly happy with how it was done) are the first significant changes to Entertainers we've gotten since at least December.

That said, right now, I wouldn't look at the last 6 months where we have gotten nothing. Instead, I would look at the next few months, starting with publish 8, where we will being to get an influx of content. The primary reason we havn't gotten much has been because our issues are mostlyeither "Jedi unlocking related" or "Art related". The Jedi system has taken time to fix and the art department has simply been overwhelmed since the begining of this year.

Believe me, they do know our issues, the question just is when they can fix them and add our content. Well, that content is starting to come now. By publish 10 hologrinding will be a memory, we have a new social dungeon coming about the time the hologrinding stops, with new dances as rewards. We have the entertainer droid, and we may have even more. Plus, who knows what potential content we might get in the Space Expansion.

If you would like to look at positive signs, then look at Image Designer. They, shortly, will be getting a complete revamp. It shows the devs are finally starting to pay attention to us entertainers, and that is a good thing

October?

I think at about that time, your Mind buff was equal to half your Mind Enhancement skill and lasted no more than 30 minutes (with 15 minutes of watching!).

If that's the case, then you'll be pleased to see that our Mind buffs have improved...assuming you even knew about them. This feature was discovered in 2003, which prompted a few changes when we realized that our feature wanked. *grin*

Check the stickies for Mind buff info.

Otherwise...yeah, not much has changed. We have /denyservice, but that's been a wank too.

I'm throwing a farewell party on Wednesday on Radiant. *grin* That's new.

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.
