Thread: How to be RP Friendly: Kwee Plug
Kwee is pretty good about plugging her own stuff, but since I just recently admitted in here that I am more "RP Friendly" than a real "Role Player"... I thought this might be fairly topical.
When I wrote the "Levelers' Guide" Post, I tried to push all of my weak RP talent into it while still maintaining as much good solid game info that I thought needed to be there. I think Dancer is most fun played like this. Heck, I think the whole game is more fun played like this.
Mostly though, I just really like for people to be comfortable around me and I've never liked the idea of "ruining" some one else's fun. ![]()
I think it's very easy to be in awe of a really great looking Dancer or troupe... and that may be why the profession seems to lend itself so well to the "Elite/Madame/Diva" role.
I personally don't play the Diva, because quite honestly, I'm just not creative enough to be anything other than my normal spazzy female self.
People that have been on teamspeak with me are always really shocked that my character's personality and my own are pretty much exactly the same. *blush* It's very lucky for me that I do have enough real life dance and "prissy southern belle" in me that I seem to be able to blend in well with the real Role Players. ![]()
So, even if you are RP challenged or it's just not really your thing, read Kwee's tips and give it a try.
Likewise, if you do lean towards RP but don't mind a little OOC... I think that's great for a Dancer too. A lot of "patrons" don't feel comfortable being forced to RP to interact with a Dancer. There are even a few who get down right panicky or mean about it.
If I run into that player, I keep it in tells or group chat if it's a whole group and I'm doing a passive buff. I was lucky to start on a server where this is normal for OOC, but even on the others where it isn't I still act like this and haven't had a problem so far. *shew*
Play nice! Play fun! Play the best Dancer you can!

Plus he's hot! Check out his pic in the boy calendar

Boys be jealous! Girls swoon!
Well, as you know, Panthu, I'm a role player and I tend to surround myself with other role players. The funny thing is, I've never played any online game before SWG, let along one that encourages RP as this one does- I guess I'm just a natural born ham. . . LOL. Roho is a great teacher and inspiration, too. He's been RPing for years.
As a RPer and an entertainer, I do have to be sensitive to the non-role players who come in for healing and buffs. They are easily spotted by the fact that they usually don't respond wellto questions and small talk, if at all. It would be nice if they would give as much as they get once in a while, though. It can get pretty boring for a RPer when everyone who shows up in the cantina is an "arpy". ![]()
Our little group has a way to differenciate between character and creator speak. We type "C -" in front of anything we say that is from the creator and therefore OOC. We use it in spatial, group, ent chat and even tells. That being said, some of us have been around each other long enough to know when we are speaking as creator instead of character even when the C - is forgotten. We are a very forgiving lot.
