Thread: As a former master dancer, I have a question...

Hey all

From the time I joined the game (3 weeks after release) until early November I was a dancer (master for a majority of that tenure--which, btw, I got WITHOUT macroing). I loved the social aspect of dancing, but felt like the content was lacking after a while. (There is only so much fun I could get out of dealing with the crappy tips, afk'ers spamming stupid messages, and monotony.) So I dropped it for smuggler... and everything else under the shining sun because I feel the need to dabble.

So now it has been a couple of months, and I am starting to miss dancing. I recently have mastered the teras kasi and tailor professions, and enjoy them... but do not see myself addicted to them 100%. Is it worth me dropping one of those professions for dancing again? Is the content there? Have things improved? Or am I looking back through rose colored glasses and should be happy about moving on?

Any and all input is welcomed.

If you are willing to ignore the 99% of people who grind the profession to almost death and until recently used every exploit that they could to drive more nails into the coffin then yes - become a dancer again.

At the moment it is NOT an easy profession for those wanting to entertain and socialize. Most people just want the dancers to buff them as quickly as possible and don't care about anything else.

There are a few places you can find different attitudes and some people who have respect for REAL entertainers - though these are sadly too rare.

The content is not there yet. The days of every cantina having entertainers is sadly bygone... The holocraze will soon be pulling up roots though so at least you'll be able to be the only entertainer standing in Theed or Coronet Cantina again.

I don't know...

I dropped master around the end of September..I just wasn't using it anymore. I had already mastered tailor at the time and was enjoying that and the demand from my customers was great. I went on to master artisan, architect, merchant, smuggler and teras kasi..my holo said fencer but it just didn't interest me.

A few weeks ago my hunting partner told me that one of his PA brothers had cancelled his wife's account..I had danced with her a lot..back in 'the day'. I got to talking about old times and all the fun we used to have & he said "Esh..you really ought to go back to it." So I've mastered dance again.

Is there hope for the profession now? I'm having fun with it but I have the advantages of a busy player city cantina convenient to me, enough credits stashed from my architect days to keep mein hot pants for a very long time and a supportive group of friends who'll humor me by letting me entertain them for hours on end(I don't belong to a PA).

I'll stick with it as long as I'm having fun.
