I have been using a macro to buff my friends, and today they only reiceved 1hr 50m on what should be 2 hours.
I noticed that I was having a lag issue with my connection as well?

Although I have not had this experience with a dance buff application I have plenty of experience with "death by healing stim lag". You hit the hot key for your stim and you wait.... and wait.. and then suddenly you are dead and you get that lovely informative message "you cannot heal while dead". I would have to assume that if you are experiencing serious system lag then it will take longer for the system to register that you are flourishing. Thus when you think you've done 120 flourishes, the system has only registered 100.

Yes, lag can SOMETIMES in very specific circumstances delay or shorten your buff.
I just learned that myself recently.
Are you using a macro that has a 10 seconds pause and then does 5 flourishes at once?
Try shortening the pause to 8 seconds (but still let it run for 3:10 minutes). About 20% of the flourishes will not be done (meaning you will have a pause of 16 seconds then), but since you're doing them 20% faster than with 10 seconds, after 3:10 minutes you have done the same number of flourishes and the buff is 2 hours. It should prevent the issue where lag hits and affects your buff.
I think it was Tiaga who wrote a nice explanation to me 2 weeks ago, why 8 seconds is better than 10 seconds.

Right on the money, I am using 10s with 5flo.
I will rewrite my macro to accomodate this.
Also, I think that multitasking when appling the buff can cause this. One time the connection seemed to not have lag, and I was surfing the net when buffing. I hit a site that was down / slow to load, and I think this has the same effect.
Thanks for the confirmation and the input.

Yup. Duration is determined by the number of flourishes (where as percentage increase over base stat is dependent upon the performer's mind enhance skill level). The server has to recognize 120 flourishes for a buff to reach full duration. Lag can certainly cause flourishes to be "lost" or delayed past the time when the buffee has quit watching.

I haven't had this happen before either, but considering how Bria was so laggy the other evening that it took nearly a minute between the time I added maintenance to my houses andwhen I gotthe confirmation message and update on the status I'd say . . . yes . . . Oh, and I've not only experienced the stim-lag death personally, I've had it happen when I've tried to heal someone else (poor darling, Roho), as well.
