Entertainers were always a support class. We accepted that.
Entertainers became the AFK magnet. We hated it but persevered.
Entertainers lost half of their special ability to heal with the CU. We hated it but stuck it out
Entertainers have lost all ability to be a support class at all.
The profession that made this game the most unique - especially in the sense that we had a purpose
We no longer have a purpose.
The Final Words
By
Creeva Murkado
Mourn the loss of what made your game unique
Those who are too ashamed to speak
All that's is combat and gore
No longer will the mandiviol soar
Lost is the beauty, the stunning, the grace
All that is left is NPC's in their place
AFK's hurt us, we bid our time
Left with amusement and singing in rhyme
The CU it hurt it with the brand new CL
Not as much though as the holo's we got the first Noel
The time is now to lay them to bed
Dev's killed my soul, it's now deadMessage Edited by brentgueth on 07-19-2005 09:26 PM

Can you really blame him though for feeling that way? I can't...
Oh well, at this point all you can do is start asking for content additions that bring something of th original entertainer role BACK.
Here's a great idea I thought of for a content addition....
Add in a game mechanic that causes players engaged in combat to accure some kind of atrophy that diminishes their ability to continue fighting. The only way the combat player could contiue on after a while would be to visit a cantina and /watch or /listen to an entertainer. The relief from this effect would be possible from any novice entertainer but a higher skilled character could do it much faster.
I have little to nothing to offer the game's community as a Musician.
A Novice Entertainer can do what I do just fine.
So THIS is what we've come to?
I don't care how long it lasts, 1 day is too long - elite Entertainer professions, outside of Image Designer, are no longer needed in this game. We literally don't provide ANYTHING to the playerbase that Novice Entertainer can't provide.
Good work, Dev team. Yeah, good "plan."
But dang, my shiny particle effects and instrument "props" make it all worthwhile. ![]()
As far as I'm concerned the OP is spot on with their assessment of this farce of a game.

I do believe that Mister Murkado has earned the right to say whatever he wants right now.
After all, he was the first master musician on my first server.
He and I used to be entertainers in a time when things were simple. When we never thought of the things we did as being "timesinks," or "forced interactions," or "skill point investments."
I do believe that he and I share something in the sense that we have never known a game without BF uniting patron and performer together as a whole; the bond that united the server with us, and we to it. It may have not always been easy, but it was better, in my opinion, that we have an uneasy bond, rather than no bond at all.
I would have hoped we could resolve our differences as patrons and performers, and strengthen the bonds, rather than sever them completely. What we have now is a solution of sorts, but it is not the best solution I would have hoped for.
If that's the case then I believe I have earned that right as well.
Murdako, cheer up!
Stop and think about what it was that really made you love the profession in the first place!
Was it the endlessly trolling numbers, or was it the camerarerie and the love of performance?
I left the entertainer profession months ago, my vision of an entertainer guild faded as lack of entertainers that met my standards never appeared. The guild as a whole lacked motivation and they as much as my self didn't spend as much time as we should have in cantinas.
What do I have now?
When I get a chance to play I live up to my definition of an entertainer. I never ask for tips, I engage in my audience, and I socialize and play up the fame of the faded pop star I once was. I can't play an instrument now, and I can't dance. But when it comes down to it the only thing I can't do is inspiration buffs. Which I was against in the beginning.
I was one of the only ones I knew when ent buffs were announced that was against it. I foresaw the AFK abuse of this skill, the pricing for buffs (which in my mind is as good as asking for tips), and the position of turning us away from healers to buff bots.
I was one of the first against the coming AFK epidemic, and was greatly upset at what it truly became, esp. since at the time the prof boards had any AFK macro you could want listed on them.
I was against /denyservice - since you can not have someone not listen to you in a public place, unrealistic and unnec.
I was the one that brought lyrics to music competitions on my server.
I founded the first city dedicated to the arts.
I co-founded the Intrepid's first entertainer guild.
I did all of this because I believed in the profession. I miss how things were the first couple months of the game when teh cantina's were alive and the population spread out.
From those first couple months what the professions were is now dead complete and set stone. Any usefulness we had is gone, and I don't care about ent buffs, it justencourages more grinding in a space of time, the thing that has destroyed the game as a whole anyway.
Yes I'm pessimistic, because 2 years has made me that way.

Well you know what this stems from... That small faction that has held this forum hostage now for the last year and a half that wants the cantinas for entertainers and the people that enjoy hanging out with them ONLY. They deride and flame anyone that speaks up for the original intention of the entertainer profession and call us psycho for daring to point out that by killing the special role we have in the game they are killing the long term health of it.
You're right Sirii, he does have the right to post what he wants and all. I'm just trying to stay optomistic because I'm going to finally be able to play again soon after a six month involuntary hiatus. That's also why I didn't say anything else. Not to mention the fact that I've not been a dancer as long as everyone else, nor have I ever mastered. I didn't want to say anything else and sound either stupid, misinformed, nieve, or heartless.
I hope things get better, but he is right about one thing: the way things are going it looks like the auxilary professions, likeentertainers, are going down the tubes.
