Thread: HOLY SMOKES WE GOT PROPS!
Wow I was kind of upset when I read that bf was removed from the game (though thrilled that afker's will be going kaput for the most part), but I just realized something... This rocks in a way because dancers aren't relegated to be trapped in a cantina for hours in order to get attention. In places where people have to wait like med centers, starports, etc. we can suddenly get attention. I wouldn't have thought this would work but I just got 13k worth of tips dancing in the theed med center : ) We still need some benefit to give players beyond just a measly inspiration buff but I think this could work out afterall.
And btw Bunduki and the new props ROCK!!!
An absence of BF, which did nothing anyway, does NOT mean entertainers do not or will not serve a purpose in SWG.

Oh yeah.
This is why I became a dancer. So I could dance in a medical center.

We were always free to entertain wherever we pleased, in fact I used to love it because it felt liberating to be away from the "ol' ball and chain" cantina, where my presence was expected - and instead, just outside performing for the pure fun of it.
There were several times where I was out playing music, and people said "My BF isn't getting healed" and I replied "That's because that only gets healed in a cantina." Their reply was usually, "Then why are you bothering to play out here?" And I'd say, "Ummm...because it's fun and adds to the atmosphere!" Many people tipped just because I was out to have fun and not "for profit."
Sure, now that BF is gone, we can go anywhere and perform. But we always could.
Instead all we did was lose what drew people to cantinas, regardless of whether they wanted to be there or not. We knew where we could find our patrons. Now, they've little reason to ever visit us. I think it's a shame.
Hell, I could care less about griping combatants, in that there is forced interaction EVERYWHERE in this game.
I have wounds, and I need to find a Doctor or a Jedi healer. No two ways about it, it HAS to be done. And what the hell is wrong with that? Absolutely nothing, as far as I'm concerned. It's part of playing the game.
Personally, I think this "fractured implementation" of our changes is a REALLY, REALLY stupid idea. Now, everyone who kinda thought we were headed towards mediocrity is more than proven right by the Dev team. We are now "useless" to a LOT of people. This is NOT where I wanted to see the Entertainer professions end up.
I DID NOT WANT TO EVER BE CALLED USELESS, OR HAVE PEOPLE EXPRESS CONDOLENCES TO ME FOR BEING AN ENTERTAINER.
This is truly a sorry state of affairs.
I could give a womprat's behind about a thoroughly buggy, half-assed broken system for Entertainers upon implementation if they'd done it all at once. Hell, sorry Dev team, what the hell else is new? Buggy Publishes? Pffffft.....just the same old, same old for SWG.
Heck, tell me a post-CU Publish that DIDN'T feature a show-stopping CTD fest or a game lockup issue. Go ahead and try.
Instead, I feel like the Devs are playing me for a fool at this point - and I'm going along with it, because honestly there's nothing I can do.
But, the Devs get their way...no matter what I think. They've managed to make people HAPPY to lose their main draw for cantinas, in favor of LOOOOOOOOOONG missing elite profession content, a new song and dance, and some props for Dancers. They really pulled a good one, here. AND, they're making us pay for multiple months of subscriptions just to SEE real and thorough and meaningful change for our professions.
I feel like a Grade A sucker today.
We haven't even seen an "In Development" thread for profession-specific buffs. Think about that. We're MONTHS away from this, people. That's $45 to wait for fixes. Who the hell do these Devs think they are, really?
I'm so friggin' fed up today. I hoped that at LEAST on Publish day, the Devs would come here and say "We're working hard on your stuff."
It would make all the difference.
Instead, we get condolences, and called useless, and we get giddy and happy over new sparklers and ribbons, and a new dance, and a new song.
Thanks Dev team, now make my elite profession worth something again in the eyes of this game's community, and PRONTO.
That's awesome.

Yeah...
I know, I really should cancel both my accounts. It would send the message I would like to send.
But I can't bear to part with all the people in my great guild. SOE owes them a huge debt... and guilds like them as well. This is especially true for entertainers who are social by nature (as players) -- it's our social ties in the game that keep us subscribing. Yup, we're suckers for doing it, but... I can't say good-bye to my guildies just yet.
Rest assured, that is the ONLY reason I am willing to keep paying. I am paying a company I now despise (SOE) money when I would rather not give them one red cent, for the privelege of staying in a game with my game buddies. That's it though... and if enough guildies quit, that'll be it for me too. And probably, even my guild won't keep me going more than another 3 month cycle or so.

Think about this, for just a bit...kinda freaky, if you ask me.
What would happen to the rest of this game's community, and the game itself, if the Dancer and Musician professions were REMOVED from this game today, with Publish 20.
Would the game suffer? Would the community really get impacted? Would the economy be impacted?
Because Master Entertainer, and even Novice Entertainer, now provide all this game needs to continue functioning. Musician and Dancer offer little that couldn't be compensated for by a Novice Entertainer. Yeah, Inspiration buffs would take longer to give. But people could still get them.

I love the props too and this is definately my favorite dance.
I was so hoping this would be the next dance they'd get around to adding live. Having lots of fun with all this..
And far as the BF goes, I could really care less... but I just dance for the fun of it and socially.. could give me the best buffs or no buffs and it wouldn't matter to me since I didn't use em when I had em. ![]()
I'm an entertainer... I'm here to entertain. BF or Buffs had nothing to do with that for me so I don't see it as a loss.
However I can certainly see the side of people who do and think it was very wrong of them to take away everything, (Besides entertaining) that a dancer had to offer.
