Thread: a comment about master dancer if I may

I admit, I havent been dancing since the beginning of the game,
I am combat and master dancer, I enjoy both

but now, if I look at the flourishes, lets say, for the master dances...
any 0040 dancer can now do the exotics as well as I an using ex2

so, if I am correct, as a master, I get to dual wield some props, have
a few flashy effects, place theatres and cantinas and lyrical2

hmm, well, the theatre and cantina are useless cause my lots are taken up
with houses for clothes *blushes*, I have never used the effects really...

So I am left with lyrical2. A dance I love actually
Would it be possible to get that moved into the knowledge 4 block as well?
I mean I rarely see anyone else dancing it, even when there were a few master
dancers around.

I apologize for being pessimistic, but I dont know of any other profession that
a person with one skill line can do almost everything a master can, the
important things, like...dance.

I just seriously question why I have the points in there now. Especially with the
cantinas on Scylla overfull now with afk'ers. I thought it was bad before, but
now, its like no one cares because they believe no one is coming in to watch them
anyway.Thats what I am finding from the dancers I talk to when they actually show up,
the ones who never come on the forums. Their HEART has been stolen. AFK is more
rampant now because they dont think they ever need to be there anymore. Thats what removing
bf has done. I know its gone, I know its not coming back, but it took a part of
the everyday dancer with it. The people that were there as often as they could be now
send me email saying things like "it doesnt matter if I am here or not so I'll be afk today"

I guess... I think my problem is, I am losing faith too. It is like working you way up
the company ladder to the top, and then having the rules change so that the entry level
stock boy makes the same money you do, has the same abilities, but has been there a few weeks.
It makes one question if the effort is really worth it.

People master for various reasons, I did it to be recognized as someone who stuck through
the long hours it takes, put in all the work, had fun doing it, and finished it. I am proud of
my master dancer tag. It used to mean I could do things a novice couldnt. And a faster buff just
doesnt make me feel that way.

I think we get little enough reward for being Master Dancer; I'd rather not see Lyrical2 moved out of the master box.

Sorry if that incoveniences you, but I think being a master should mean something, and that includes doing the best dance.

I was more disapointed that they trivialized the Master Exotic dances rather than want to move Lyrical down. I'd hate to trivialize yet another dance that is wonderful. (Then again, I always thought hte exotics were a bit silly for master dance level, anyways. I mean honestly, you can tumble and do these intricate moves with Bunduki as a novice dancer but you have to be master to sway your arms artistically? )

This is an extremelytough choice right now. I agree that unless you're really into the extra special effects or lyrical 2 (which is without a doubt one of my favorite dances) then you're spending a lot of skill points with very little return. But would moving lyrical 2 out of the master box really address that issue? I don't think so. For me the solution has to be making Master Dancer as useful and functional as any other elite profession. There's so much I could do with those extra skill points that would make a huge difference on my ability to experience more of what SWG has to offer and very little that I can currently do with those skill points. I'm told that's going to change. I only hope it changes sooner rather than later and that it really does appeal to me as a player.

I'm a little confused, all you give up is the advanced idle animation with Lyrical. You still have access to all of the flos.

Exotic was not done right for some reason in the beginning, it was the oddball though. Lyrical was the norm and now Exotic just follows that pattern too. If it's just the flos you want, then just train the knowledge line. If you want the advanced base dances, get the master box.

I don't think the pattern should change any unless it's to do what Esh would like, which is re-order the Exotic flos so that they can be mixed. I think that should only be done if they tell us they can not or will not give us access to all known flo animations from any base dance though - which would meet the goal much more completely.

Whatever changes happen though, I really think they need to try to be standard for all dance styles so that we can avoid this type of confusion later on when we do receive improvements. Deviating from the norm tends to give a false impression that there has been improvement when there actually hasn't been, and I'd prefer that our chunk of dev time be spent on truly enhancing our dance animation ability.

I just wish they had filled ou the exotic flos with new ones for every dance instead of just replicating the same flos for all four dances. It feels as if they trivialized the dances.

Not enough to make mixed groups undesirable, but enough to make it feel special I think.

I think what might be better is to get 2 or 3 completly origional dances that are awarded at Master..

My thinking - if you are doing a group dance with non-Masters and you do a different dance style, it looks like you are doing a different routine and aren't part of the same performance. If you are doing the same dance style but do some unique Master moves, you look like a featured Dancer in a troupe performance.

Being a featured Dancer seems a lot cooler to me. Plus, we'd still get to keep all the wow factor of a group performance even when just doing an unrehearsed sync dance with strangers.

That was exactly my point. Which is why I don't want them to drop Lyrical2 down, as well. They've already made the Exotics completely unspecial and ununique across the board.

I know, sorry was just a little frustrated and sarcastic when I suggested that.

Master means a lot to me, and it should be special, I just no longer really see that it is.

I dont know what the solution is, all I do see though, is that these changes have made people
choose to be more afk because they dont think it matters either.

I'd liked to see two exotic dances. One as it is now,a compression of all the older flos into one dance. It should have been that way from the start IMO. Make that xx4x. Make another new exotic called two for the Master box. Remove three and four.

Not to disagree about the questionable nature of being a master of any entertainer profession right now (because I agree wholeheartedly), however last night, for the first time ever, Roho and I were able to dance Exotic 2together - with all the flos. Okay, sure - Roho is tall and muscular and perhaps hasn't the perfect dancer frame, but it was fun and we enjoyed it!
